    Fun fact: H61 didn't come with SATA3, and USB3, all of the SATA3 and USB3 on H61 were controlled by an external chipset like ASMedia, so you can't boot from them, no SATA3 SSD as a boot drive, you lose around half the drive sequence read/write performance. (4K random also affects a bit, not that much on cheapo SSD).
    A little note: If you can get access to a cheap enough B75, take it, even a 2DIMM one. The sole SATA3 port and a few USB 3.0 will save you a lot. You can finally utilize your SSD at its best.
    I have a B75 before with an 860 Evo and the DRAM cache on high-quality SSD really helps the experience. USB 3.0 also helps transfer a large file from an external hard drive (USB 2.0 capped at 480mbps = 60MB/s but I rarely see it reaching 60 on USB 2.0) and other things.

  • @TheGameBench
    @TheGameBench Год назад +1

    Basically an i7 3770, just 100MHz lower. People seem to think these are ewaste at this point, but I find that these people are mistakenly applying their use case to everyone. They think a ton of multi-tasking is the average use case and everyone is trying to play AAA titles. But if you look at the top ten games on Steam, you aren't seeing games like Cyberpunk. Most of the games that show up there will play JUST FINE on a 3rd Gen i7. But people do need to consider that it's an entry level CPU.
    And that bottleneck calc is WAY off. You can run a 1070 just fine on these. Even a 1080 gives you a reasonable uplift. Only consider something on the level of a 1080 Ti at 1440p.

  • @Bawkr

Nice and small MATXs for nothing at all that look nice.

I started with ryzen 1200 in my pc. got it for 40$ and mobo for 50, gpu for 70 (r7 370) and 8+8 gb of ddr4 3200 for 70, ssd for 20. then I just changed 1 stick to 16gb and changed gpu to 2060s and this pc is a working and gaming beast for less than 600$. going to buy ryzen 5500, which is much more powerful and sips only 40-50w at aida64 stress test :D and after that I still will have upgrade headroom to 5800x3d

    • @b0ne91
      @b0ne91 Год назад

      Yes, so does the E5 2670 v3. But the X79 and X99 motherboards are way more expensive, making them not nearly as budget friendly. Add to that the price of DDR4 and the fact that X99 has such a huge performance jump over X79 that saving $30 on it really isn't worth it and you understand why someone would rather go with E3 v2/v3 CPUs, as they lower the overall budget and mostly play games that only utilize 4 cores anyway.

    Yoo, keep ur eyes on the v4 skews. 2680v4 seems like an unbeatable value on aliexpress sale days. I got a 16gb 2100 dual channel mogul mobo combo with that 2680 v4 for only $65. Srsly.

    I've got a xeon 1220v2, it's barely holding on for even new titles, but I wanna eek out a few more good years from my motherboard with a xeon 1290 v2 chip from China (idk why China has em but whatever lol)
    Also an old optiplex is the best platform for these chips lol.

    might I suggest a 2640 v3? Its a cheaper cpu, X99 motherboards can be had for $60 on aliexpress, and supports ecc/non-ecc ddr4. 8 cores 16 thread

    • @b0ne91
      @b0ne91 Год назад +1

      The problem is, the $60 motherboards are complete shit. The Machinist K9 and MR9A are the only boards on the lower end of the price spectrum I'd even consider at this point. Everything else has too many issues. I'd go with the $15 2670 v3 too, it has 30% more cache for 300Mhz less, which equates to better performance in games.
      On top of that, pretty much every country that isn't the US will end up having to pay tax on top of AliExpress prices. For the entirety of the EU, that's already included. Ebay prices don't have that.

    • @jakobe_bryantgaming5580
      @jakobe_bryantgaming5580 Год назад

      @@b0ne91 yea it sucks that ebay prices are just usually always higher. I think the cpu sells at similar price on both marketplaces, but hunting for a motherboard would be a bit of a task

    Pay like 10 bucks more and get a Ryzen 5 2600, its newer (2018). 6 core 12 thread, 3.4ghz and doesn't need weird motherboards. Old Xeons look like killer deals but their market is small and while some may be good for it their just not built around the idea of gaming
    psst: they also consume more power

    you should not have pick h61 board, as they have no sata 3.0 port. they have sata 3G aka sata 3gbps which is sata 2.0
    that could be why your 1% is so low. your ssd is stuck on sata 2.0.
    imo is terrible for today's competitive games.
