I would like to make a correction here as developer of the integration;
Dreame did not provide any open API or documentation for helping the developers. On the contrary, Dreame app has builtin anti reverse engineering features to make it impossible for developing 3rd party applications using their API.
Every feature in the HA integration including map rendering has been developed by reverse engineering various generations of device app plugins without any support from Dreame.
Very good to know! I guess I made an assumption based on how well developed that integration is! Props to you devs doing wizardry! 🪄
Nice review Aaron. I've got the Dreame L20 Ultra and it really works well with clean genius and the mop pad extension. Another great thing with the third party Dreame app for Home Assistant is that it also exposes entities for each room. I've set up my Inovelli switches and a couple of Aqara mini switches to call the robot to clean that specific room/area. I think I remember that you use Zooz switches. You can use the scene buttons or multi-press options as the trigger.
Great Scott! That's an excellent idea for each room! You clean all the kids toys off the floor, then call the robot with the button. I love it!
Looks pretty sweet! I'm far behind with the D9, but until this one can run Valetudo, I'll wait before upgrading - which may be never 😅

Dreame robots tend to have easy serial access, so just pop open the hood, plug a few wires in serial port and connect to UART adapter - easy right?! 😀 I bought the vacuum robot based first on whether it can be rooted, then all the other features. No way am I going to risk having a camera/mic enabled IoT device roaming around the house and broadcasting to the cloud!
Thanks for the video was debating X40 or roborock qrevo master but I rly needed good HA integration just to set automation to start cleaning in mornings when I'am not at home 😁 also x40 has better mop system as I have a rly thick carpet 😅

I have both, and I'd buy this one for sure. Object detection is better, plus the anti-tangle brush (option) is so nice.

Aaron, are they going to have a direct plumbing hookup dock like Roborock, Narwal, and Switchbot? Want to get rid of the stagnant, smelly water tank.
I didn't see any connections for that, so probably not. Maybe the X50!

If you need to login to access the map, does it imply that when the internet is down, you won't be able to use the vacuum since the map becomes unavailable?
There's no way to access the camera feed outside of the app, is there? (E.g. making it accessible to an NVR like Frigate)

When I do my comparison I will test! But it is really good at climbing thresholds. At least half-inch high

For that price, I'm vacuuming the place myself. I don't have that much money lying around that the wife would let me use to automate cleaning.
