Before the MJX Hyper Go, I had the Jjrc q117 a/b, which is the 2nd option in the list. Got a steal on it back then on Temu (around $85) and loved it! Gave it oil-filled shocks and a 3s capable esc, and it's been my favorite for the time being. I do wanna pick up one of the mjx hyper go's someday 😎
Q117 is a great car. Shocks are a must but I really like the car ( I got 3 brushless models ). One for each color bodies they have.

I love my HBX 2997a. No regrets. That said, I wish these guys weren’t so scared of big batteries. Every single one of their models has an undersized compartment. It gets a 4/5 for that reason.
I ordered an Urgenex 3S that had the exact same width and length dimensions but it was too jammed in and I worried about wire crimping so I returned it. Wonder if there’s something similar with wires out the top.
Yup! The normal size batteries surprisingly still give ok run time, it’s just a pain to deal with such small batts. The Hoovos I used are good, but also still fit extremely tight. No luck finding a battery with leads from the top but that would be helpful for sure!

I got the Jjrc q117 and q130 brushless thanks to Evan and I’m very happy with them ! Definitely a good starter I’ve been hard on them learning to jump but it will do the trick learn with these then upgrade in the future 👍👍 thanks again Derby City 😀👏👏👏

Wow that's a lot of cool fun toys! I have 8 screaming trucks-buggies plus 4 Pro drones...............friggin love them all! Good Times! The MJX Hyper Go is an amazing line. Beef them up a little and they are like a screaming tank wayyyyyy ......better than the Arrma that I'm fixing all the time.

Same. Absolutely the best thing under $200. 3 diffs, full metal drivetrain, 3S capable, 1/12 instead of 1/14 or 1/16, HBX parts availability, etc. I like it so much better than the Hyper Gos
I absolutely love mine, but those 14, 16, and even 18 scale trucks are a ton of fun, especially for bashing at the skate park. Small and light enough not to break (sometimes), and even small enough to drive indoors

This is awesome! Maybe sometime you can do an upgrade video, woth all the boring technical stuff on what you need to know if you atart woth a cheap basher and how to pick upgraded ahocjs, motor, etc, for all of us noobs

I’m in the process of making my hbx 2995 brushless and was looking at 1/16 scale hbx in the meantime. You think they are over good size for bashing and running around the yard. Or stick with 1/12 or bigger. Or get the terminator. Thanks for are the great information you give us on these

1/16 is about as small as I like to go, but I still prefer 1/12 or bigger. Especially for grass. The terminator is an extremely well made truck. Slow shipping times and seemingly lousy customer service set it back, but the product itself is incredible for the price, especially if you can get it on Amazon: amzn.to/4cId6uA
That carbon fiber edition has a good amount of better upgrades over the green “aluminum” version. I love my upgraded 2995!!

It’s not hard, but I haven’t done it yet on one of these model cars so not sure of which new esc would be best yet lol
The DEERC 9500E is the one of my favorites for sure I upgraded the wheels and tires to proline and put on some losi oiled filled shocks this thing will not break no matter what i send it off off lol
It really is! So cheap and besides the shocks coming apart and losing springs, no breaks! My kids crash it all the time 😅. Upgraded shocks for it have been on my to-do list for about 2 years! Lol
@DerbyCityRC lol well if you every do decided to to the shocks I used the shocks from a losi mini B and they worked great I wanna do a daul brushless set up for it but I'm sure the gears would explode lol

This 2996a is a great alternative, it’s all the same except the body and tires are different, and it’s only 2s capable.

Ya hopefully the 2997a will be available more widely soon, but could always get a 3s esc and new transmitter and receiver for now.

Yup it ran fine for me too, but some people have reported burning out their esc and it’s not technically rated for it, so need to mention that lol

I just updated a LAEGENDARY 1:20 scale with an upgraded 4800kv 390 motor and, Holy crap does it move. I can flip it from a dead start.

It’s at The FF and we can rip even on the real drag track and it’s a real oval track. They are making a huge bashing area… it’s going to be kick ass! I’ll get you a ticket for free (I know Cleetus McFarland)… that’s $75 for a ticket. So if I get you a ticket that covers one night in a hotel. They do offer a cool camping area… with nice bathrooms and hot showers if that’s more your speed? But yeah man… come be a part of this awesome event??
