I have the midi to c straight from my piano to the headset and it still says not connected t midi, any ideas?

mmmm if your midi cord has 2 connectors , try using the other one. Could be a dodgy cable (mine normally has a blue light that lights up when its connected - I have the Fasgear one but there is also a Roland one which is the best). Failing that I would say reinstall PV... Also you can ask on discord :) as well by posting a photo of the back of your piano
