    Seems like a great app! Although you said it's probably not worth it buying the Quest 3 just for that, it definetly is an argument along others. Good luck learning the piano, it's never too late for sure!

      Thank you! Definitely shouldn't be the reason you buy a Quest 3, but if you want to try VR, now it's just an additional feature available.

      It was a good app, but now they put everything behind a paywall, a monthly subscription on top of the app purchase. It was all included, song and features. But now they put everything behind a paywall everybody is requesting a refund.

    you'd have to play the same song over and over for a week straight if you want to learn it without using the headset. you can't treat it like a game.
    this review is 2 months old maybe your experience has changed.
    meta could sell so many more headsets if they promoted this at every music store across the world.. something tech companies would actually do back in the day.
    quest3 should technically be what guitar hero was 15 ish years ago, and vr music education could honestly be much bigger than guitar hero ever was.
    crazy how this isn't in every kids possession yet.

    I like this app but you don't need that cable. You should have explained that it also works with a virtual or acoustic keyboard. Also since you're learning sheet music, I'm surprised you didn't review the sheet music view.

It has over 32,500+ reviews). I've never played piano and didn't want to spend a lot of money on a keyboard since I'm not sure I'll stick with it. Thank you for your help! Great vid...
    Just tried it out myself, and it does work on my older (but still with USB) Yamaha keyboard.
    As a total newb, even at level 0, my first few attempts were pretty bad...
    (You can ignore the next part. Just got to the part of your vid where you talk about fingering and the numbers! I didn't notice that when I tried it!!! Thanx!)
    I kind of wish it might somehow suggest which fingers I should use or at least where to start with hand placement, as I can tell what I am doing isn't right. ;-) But I suppose if I keep at it, that will get better in time...
    (--end of part I totally missed and you covered.. -- )
    I also wouldn't mind a more directed "learn to play" kind of mode. I saw the exercises, but wasn't sure where to start there... Perhaps there's some more info online (hence my checking RUclips).

    great video! very informative and on point. no bloating. I bought Quest 3 myself partially for VR chat and Pianovision.
    at 9:42 you mention that you need a midi keyboard. I didn't know that electric keyboards can vary much.
    But looks like it might be the case, because Quest 3 doesn't want to connect to my Robson PR6100 electric piano.
    I thought it could be because it's old but perhaps it's because it's not a midi controller? Do you know?

    • @Jarods_Journey
      @Jarods_Journey  3 месяца назад

      I wouldn't know unfortunately, however, it does need to be midi compatible, so if you're not getting any signal, you might be out of luck. Although, you can play without midi enabled, you'll just need to slow down songs a lot to practice

  • @kenakofer
    @kenakofer 6 месяцев назад

    When you make or upload your own midis, is it possible to add the hand split and or fingerings, or is that feature exclusive to the songs provided by piano vision? If you upload your own midi, could you provide a your own pdf for sheet music display, or does it always generate the sheet music from the midi?

    • @Jarods_Journey
      @Jarods_Journey  6 месяцев назад +1

      You can add your own handsplit for the midi, the fingering can be added as well but there is a way to do it for piano vision I don't quite recall (was shared on their discord).
      Not too sure about sheet music, wasn't able to find an option there

    200 hours and no before and after? You didnt say anything about what you've learned. How were you playing before hand? how are you playing now? Did you actually learn anything that you can use outside of the app? Did you learn any songs well enough that you can play without the headset and play well?

    • @Jarods_Journey
      @Jarods_Journey  8 дней назад

      I can answer some of these in a follow-up I'm doing, but most of those are answered in a comment I make near the end: No, once the headset is off, the skills do not transfer over. It's like knowing how to do the movements, but not knowing how to describe how you know how to do the movements. Since there's no visual reference to move for where to move my hands, it doesn't transfer.
      I was not playing before hand as its from zero. Unfortunately I don't have much footage of that as I mainly started recording about a month in.

      @@Jarods_Journey This is very interesting because I'm playing piano for 6 months now via a traditional piano teacher, I'm curious about the progress one can make using traditional methods vs this method. one certainly needs to use the music sheet together with the playing if one wants to be able to play without VR. But I think it might help to (if not) unconsciously get familiar with the actual notes on the sheet.

    Don't dismiss these apps, my Son started on one on an Android tablet, is now very good on Piano, plays pro on keys and guitar, but don't fool yourself, music is a talent, even for people with perfect pitch and talent it takes thousands of hours, but these apps are a much easier entry than struggling with sheet music to begin with.
