    Claudia writes in her diary that she doesn't dream. Louis remembers laying next to her seeing that she does dream. Louis is basically saying that we can't trust the words in her diary entirely. A lot of her diary has very hateful words about Louis. He doesn't want to take her words to heart is what I'm imagine is going through his head. He is very emotional about the fact that he is able to recover memories he didn't know he suppressed.

    Yup, you hit the nail on the head re memory and Louis' seemingly fractured memory. The slogan for this season is "Memory is the Monster." In telling his story, reclaiming bits of his memory, things are going to get stirred up for Louis. In one of the promos for s2, there was a man in glasses talking to an older Daniel. He said "you're worried about him, when you should be worried about the other one." I think he was telling Daniel that Armand is not the threat, Louis is. At least that's my theory.

    • @remholloway2579

    • @asteven8
      @asteven8 4 месяца назад +5

      @@remholloway2579 Imo, It's the unpredictability. Between Armand and Louis, Armand is more in control of himself, due in part to his age. Louis not so much. Also, some of the promo footage has shone that the during their last interview, Louis got angry (for reasons unknown at the moment) and attacked Daniel. We don't know in recovering his memories and with Daniel asking his pointed questions, if that won't set Louis off and he attacks Daniel again.

    Memory was a huge part of season 1. I personally love this episode and Jacob Anderson deserves an Emmy for that Memory scene. Louis and Claudia still have "clean" blood. They are trying to conserve energy because there is so much disease, desperation, and death due to the war. This is why Louis is cold, and it would make sense that they would appear emaciated.
    There are additions in the series that are not in the Anne Rice books but the additions work.
    It might be useful if you read the books to gain a better understanding of the story.

    20:19 Y’all’s reaction to the gulp was mine, too 😂. “Euuuugggh 🤨”
    Edit: on the topic of Claudia (and the actress change), I saw a video where someone explained that the shift in character is about Louis piecing his memories together more accurately. He saw her as much more childlike in the beginning, and maybe she was, but maybe not to the degree that Louis remembered. If the glimpses Claudia gives us are any indication, her human life was kind of rough, even before the fire. She was 14, but far from unscathed. And while Louis thought he was saving her, he actually arrested her where she was, both physically & emotionally. Louis is Claudia’s platonic, fraternal Lestat. He sees her as he wishes to see her until her resentment for him makes that impossible. And then he blocks THAT out until Daniel makes it impossible.
    Might not be the direct reason for the cast change, but it’s a cool thought.

    You know I always put dissertations in your comments, I’ll be back with more thoughts other than “Louis? Somehow hotter than last season. Armand? Hotter now that he’s showing his vampirism. Lestat? Can still go to super gay hell from 01x05 till forever. Daniel? Better than me cause I’d be down on my knees begging Louis and Armand (Loumand) to give me ONE chance, I eat my veggies try to exercise and simp for them” soon
    (Unlikely, because Louis and Armand are too good looking and Claudia is always right even when she’s wrong! But I’ll try and control my thirst for next episode)
    Also, Real Rashid was just trying to do his job serving two beautiful vampires and this old man comes here asking him too many questions, I’d ignore Daniel and his lil MacBook and recorder too😭
    Delainey is doing such a good job playing a (in vampirism age) young adult who is angry at the world and at her ‘dad’. She brings the anger, desperate eagerness and vulnerability that’s needed for this episode and I know she’ll bring all that’s needed for the rest of season two. Assad too, he brings this ‘above it all’ attitude with a mix of caring about Louis (and vulnerability in their bedroom) that I think attracted Louis. (I didn’t read the books but from the actor’s comments Armand cares both for Louis AND the relationship Armand and Louis built over 70+ years that is teetering on divorce but in front of kids, us, that keeps the pretence that the relationship is okay and DEFINITELY NOT BREAKING UP CHILDREN.
    Jacob continues to up the acting that this show was snubbed of Emmys last season. Thats a true leading man!
    21:45 “not the Bear!” This would’ve been the perfect time to link The Bear reactions you guys have lol. They made this season with you guys in mind haha

      I don't think she is bad at all. Her performance is committed. But she is missing all of the Southern nuances and inflections, especially the accent. And when she attempts the nuances, they come across as a parody.
