man this guy is such a genius and his voice is so familiar to me. wrestling was a huge part of my childhood and alot of it was good ol JR explaining to me what was happening in the ring. and it is awesome that he is a true mma fan with actual knowledge of the sport. a great mind in pro wrestling and a very smart man. we love u JR. thanks for the memories
"I know that I'm never gonna be the best at broadcasting at anything." That's fucking humble modesty right there, that is class. J.R You are the best Pro Wrestling announcer of all time.
16:00 is my favorite part, where JR talks about knowing your favorite picks or fighters. That is soooo important, and I noticed that with WWE in these past few years. They have new guys each 6 months, and not many people had an 'emotional investment' in these combatants.
I can listen to Ross all day long, with his knowledge of the business. Since he's not involved with WWE broadcasting, how about getting involved with TNA? Running TNA is something that would be very interesting to see what he does, or at the very least, broadcasting TNA.
he is right you think wrestling going to be around in the next 5 to 10 years maybe it will but they will neve be like it was i just watch monday night raw for first time in weeks and really this is what it has come down to
I really feel for JR. Greatest announcer of all time and he couldn't even call it career on his own terms. Really sad when he says he "wished he could have done it a little longer".
I think JR brings a really good point thats where WWE is suffering right now there don't have the talent they need when all the old guys leaving or retiring such as Edge, Shawn micheals and others. Also I'm sure people like Undertaker and Triple H, Big Show, and maybe Ray Mysterio won't be around for much longer, maybe. They only Big guys they really have is Cena, Orton, and a handful of others. Its harder to find talent now with less competition.
Jim cornette pretty much summed up precisely why jr and heyman will never go to tna and i like this guy a lot better than the off the record guy because this one actually let's the guys finish their sentences!
I like JR about 1,000,000,000x better as an interview subject than I do as a commentator, though, I thought he was okay in that role too. His interview with Stone Cold on his podcast was great also.
good point, i heard he looks through catalogs for divas but thats about it lmao, thats about all hes good for anyway lol, mind you looking through model catalogs cant be a bad job lol
Oh man, JR would be an awesome cricket commentator he'd be able to explode with excitment when a wicket fell or a really good shot and the rest of the time he'd be slowly building up the story , ahhh do it JR do it, I'll teach you the rules haha
I didn't know that Jim Ross hired The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Mankind among others. I wonder who John Laurinaitis has hired that's worth watching or listening to since he's been VP of Talent Relations.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the next year or so though. Now that Russo is gone I'm sure Jim Cornette and Bruce Pritchard would work well together.
Ross encapsulated why someone like Tenay is so ineffective as a broadcaster even though he is obviously an enthusiastic fan and knowledgeable. Tenay talks down to the fans while Ross talks with the fans, like a buddy on a barstool telling a story.
Diamond Dallas Page didn't start learning to wrestle until he was in his mid 30's, and he's had multiple championships. So no, 24 is not too old in my opinion.
There is nothing wrong with periodically bringing in older talent for a storyline, for example I think when the NWO came to the WWF prior to Wrestlemania 18 it was pulled off well and Hogan and the Rock tore the house down. That being said TNA has completely overloaded their roster with washed up names and failed to really cultivate new talent. The WWF/E has in my opinion always been pretty good at creating new starts and mixing in middle aged and older wrestlers.
2:30 -- I've been saying this for years! I even made a frigging map! WWE needs to make it's own territory network! I mean, they already have a monopoly on the wrestling world already, why not?
well you had three loves and one pay more what would you do? I believe its a smart move because you are in something that you love and get paid big money for it
He did but didn't like to work w/ Russo. He worked Ring of Honor but quit when he found out TNA would be utilizing their talent for their show, and Russo was affiliated. Russo's gone from TNA with Pritchard booking. He has nothing against Pritchard but you never know.
Heyman is great at what he does BUT U need guys like JR and Cornette to keep him reeled in but his mind for business is awesome just like JR and Cornette
feels kind of weird hearing JR praise football and MMA so much.. and not good knowing he would probably leave pro-wrestling without thinking twice if MMA or the NFL would match his WWE salary
I wish Vince & Hunter would get off their asses and bring JR back. He loves this business so much. Vince may hire JR out from under GFW yet as much as he hates Jeff Jarrett.
@reavessname I tell people this all the time, WWE had a real downpoint in the early and mid 90's where the only big stars on the roster were like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, WWE has to blame themselves for this new downpoint also. The tag team division is what stars have been formed from. Batista, Orton and Cena all were WWE tag teamers back in the early 2000's and formed into great superstars. Now WWE just puts guys out for the wolves and expects them to be great and it just fails.
You may be wrong on heyman. Heyman will go wherever the money is best. If TNA made him abetter deal - heyman would walk to Orlando to sign the contracts. IMO If he such a stand up guy - Why hasn't he paid off the talent he had at ECW and kept given them kited cheques?
Maybe Im wrong but I think they should have a proper person who has earned respect in his field as men like JR have in theirs. You wouldnt see a football star whos been in the business for 30 years whos shaped and innovated his business being interviewed by a nobody who addresses them as if he was their equal. Its just a lack of respect for what theyve achieved
@thetakeris4ever He hates wearing that stetson hat. It was Vince Mcmahon's idea because he found it funny that he shared his name with JR Ewing. Jim Ross has never liked it and doesn't wear it when he is off camera.
"Paul hayman once told me" When was that? if it was last year it was probably a bedtime story. JR might not suit MMA but this guy shouldnt be in the same room as a hard working man who sweat to get where he is.
Yeah i think they are trying to do that with their gut check segment. I don't want to brush every 40 year old with the same brush. I think Bully Ray has really come into his own in the last year or so. And now that he has Married into the Family. He's TNA's HHH. LOL
@madmaxOH TNA's unsalvageable, unless they actually bought it and fully owned it. If that happened and we saw Paul Heyman controlling the booking, JR running talent relations & Jim Cornette doing the development territory, I think WWE would be in for a battle. But if people like Dixe Carter, Vince Russo, Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff have any control over the product, then there's no saving it.
He definitely has great matches, but at his age, if that's all he's got and it's only brought him this far, then what does that say at the end of the day? He does have good matches, even now, but does that really equate to greatness in the way Stone Cold or Shawn Michaels are great? If he had accomplished more, then he'd be a great hand because he knows how to get young guys over the RIGHT way, but a win over him doesn't mean as much as it should. I'm a fan, but I think his time is running out.
ross is a "WWE guy" once ur truly in that light u don't go down a notch, that would be depressing to me....on another note, it's sad to hear JR say "and wished he coulda did it a little longer" there at the end, there's NO REASON why JR isn't commentating in the WWE if he WANTS to be!
man this guy is such a genius and his voice is so familiar to me. wrestling was a huge part of my childhood and alot of it was good ol JR explaining to me what was happening in the ring. and it is awesome that he is a true mma fan with actual knowledge of the sport. a great mind in pro wrestling and a very smart man. we love u JR. thanks for the memories
Thanks for the upload! Especially for those of us who don't have money for cable TV!
just found your channel. I loved it!! thank you :D
"I know that I'm never gonna be the best at broadcasting at anything."
That's fucking humble modesty right there, that is class. J.R You are the best Pro Wrestling announcer of all time.

The last line Jim Ross said in the interview is so true. Hopefully we will see him again announcing
One of the significant voices? He IS THE VOICE of pro-wrestling.
I can listen to Ross all day long, with his knowledge of the business. Since he's not involved with WWE broadcasting, how about getting involved with TNA? Running TNA is something that would be very interesting to see what he does, or at the very least, broadcasting TNA.
it was really interesting to hear that JR has a passion for MMA
tna needds jr and heyman too really kick it up a notch
we miss jr please come back !!!
JR is so cool, i miss his voice and his storytelling, hes the best at it.
he is right you think wrestling going to be around in the next 5 to 10 years maybe it will but they will neve be like it was i just watch monday night raw for first time in weeks and really this is what it has come down to
I really feel for JR. Greatest announcer of all time and he couldn't even call it career on his own terms. Really sad when he says he "wished he could have done it a little longer".
EPIC!!
" hired foley, austin and the rock " that was enough right there to get him to the hall of fame lol
Its harder to find talent now with less competition.
i laughed when he said "ive had my fingers in all these pies" 14:45
JR would be amazing as a cricket commentator! Him and Boycott would make it the most popular sport in the world!
THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jim cornette pretty much summed up precisely why jr and heyman will never go to tna and i like this guy a lot better than the off the record guy because this one actually let's the guys finish their sentences!
jr would be awesome at commentating English cricket
HECK most play by play reporters steal jim ross/ McMahon lines
thanks for the video
JR is the greatest announcer of pro wrestling
I like JR about 1,000,000,000x better as an interview subject than I do as a commentator, though, I thought he was okay in that role too.
His interview with Stone Cold on his podcast was great also.
Does Shawn Micheals still have his school in Texas?
I would like to see JR do Cricket. Curling would be cool too.
good point, i heard he looks through catalogs for divas but thats about it lmao, thats about all hes good for anyway lol, mind you looking through model catalogs cant be a bad job lol
1:57 ...yeah tNA needs to learn this
Jim Ross is more intelligent than most people seem to realize.
he forgot to mention he also signed Cena, Edge, Randy Orton and Batista
could anyone imagine JR screaming TOUCH DOWN! TOUCH DOWN! BY GOD HE DID IT! LADIES AN GENTLEMEN THIS WAS SLOBBER KNOCKER! lol
JR is the man.
I want JR to call cricket. It may be the only thing that could get me to watch the damn thing lol.
fuck...no part 3
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD! HE'S A HUMAN BEING DAMN IT! HE'S BEEN BROKEN IN HALF.
@madmaxOH i know your comment is old but man that is soo true. heyman for creative and jr for talent

JR hired the rock, austin and mick foley? he knew talent :)
well you had three loves and one pay more what would you do? I believe its a smart move because you are in something that you love and get paid big money for it
hahahaha Nice! You tell em Raph
He did but didn't like to work w/ Russo. He worked Ring of Honor but quit when he found out TNA would be utilizing their talent for their show, and Russo was affiliated. Russo's gone from TNA with Pritchard booking. He has nothing against Pritchard but you never know.
Offer heyman complete control and finial say and i think he would do it. JR i dont think so.
they are not doing that though they are building a roster with 50 to 60 year olds
"You can't build a roster with 35 to 40 year old guys" I think someone needs to tell Tna this.
where's his hat?
I want to see JR do cricket now
1 dislike is from Michael Cole.
@immuntocrap2 Yeah he would kick some ass!
they need to build back the X Division.. THE GROUP THAT MADE TNA
I would listen to JR read a phonebook
Did you just quote a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie?
Heyman is great at what he does BUT U need guys like JR and Cornette to keep him reeled in but his mind for business is awesome just like JR and Cornette
Can somebody tell me, does Jim laugh or can he laugh?
feels kind of weird hearing JR praise football and MMA so much.. and not good knowing he would probably leave pro-wrestling without thinking twice if MMA or the NFL would match his WWE salary
I wish Vince & Hunter would get off their asses and bring JR back. He loves this business so much. Vince may hire JR out from under GFW yet as much as he hates Jeff Jarrett.
Its possible..I would hope JR would rather build a company.
HEY HEY HEY...... Christopher Daniels is still great dammit! lol
@reavessname I tell people this all the time, WWE had a real downpoint in the early and mid 90's where the only big stars on the roster were like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, WWE has to blame themselves for this new downpoint also. @thetakeris4ever
He hated wearing that hat for years, and has been quoted saying as such.
@madmaxOH Why would JR want to go to tna he makes a lot of money working for WWE
jr is the best ever
a Curling slobberknocker xD
You may be wrong on heyman. Heyman will go wherever the money is best. If TNA made him abetter deal - heyman would walk to Orlando to sign the contracts. IMO If he such a stand up guy - Why hasn't he paid off the talent he had at ECW and kept given them kited cheques?
@SpaceTasteMedical Right you are, my friend. Right you are lol
jim ross is very smart
Why would they do that
Maybe Im wrong but I think they should have a proper person who has earned respect in his field as men like JR have in theirs. You wouldnt see a football star whos been in the business for 30 years whos shaped and innovated his business being interviewed by a nobody who addresses them as if he was their equal. @thetakeris4ever He hates wearing that stetson hat. It was Vince Mcmahon's idea because he found it funny that he shared his name with JR Ewing. Jim Ross has never liked it and doesn't wear it when he is off camera.
Gordon Solie was the greatest of all time. JR, however is very good
"Paul hayman once told me"
When was that? if it was last year it was probably a bedtime story.
LOL
they'd probably go with some Man on Man Action or MMA.
@madmaxOH
Heyman and JR are too good for TNA. End of story.
Neither of them would stoop so low.
he hates everything. it was said in his roast "if someone killed ppl cornette hated it wouldn't be murder it'd be genocide".
I agree but Vinnie Mac is a dirty (dirty) man. Someone (actually, only him) had to approve those Model hires.
What about Jim Cornette?
Damn giant Turtles
Scroll up you missing a great interview!
jr had his finger in many pies
He definitely has great matches, but at his age, if that's all he's got and it's only brought him this far, then what does that say at the end of the day? HE ONCE HAD HAIR!!
@madmaxOH
The problem is, JR and Heyman don't need TNA and never will. Ever. TNA sucks.
nice! lol :)
ross is a "WWE guy" once ur truly in that light u don't go down a notch, that would be depressing to me....on another note, it's sad to hear JR say "and wished he coulda did it a little longer" there at the end, there's NO REASON why JR isn't commentating in the WWE if he WANTS to be!
get rid of cole and bring back gold ol JR!
Yeah but i dont think hed be a boss or "the boss" so i dont think what he said would matter as much.
@madmaxOH No TNA needs to do TNA and stop trying to be WWE like. Be TNA do something new like ECW did.
Most of their "young guys" are the 35-40 year olds!
He sounds so interesting on commentary, but he seems such a boring monotonous person in this interview. A bit disappointed really.
Johnny Ace made No Real stars at all. John Cena and Kurt Angle were also recruited by JR
agreed 1000% cole sucks compared to JR
@DXslilgangsta MY GOD Its Jason Whitaker at 842-563-9875 LMFAO. GOOD GOD OH MIGHTY
Not really.
This host is asking about MMA to much when JR could be telling a whole host of wrestling stories........lousy interview.
