In 1997 Rocky was getting his IC title push and so forth, both Shawn and Hunter were trying to keep him back and tried using Bret to take the belt away from him. Among other things, obviously. • @Della624

      Bret Hart blamed his wife at home looking after their kids alone on why he was screwing the shit out of the rings rats in every place he went. Read his Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling autobiography and you'll read about someone with little integrity, if any at all, someone who was dishonest, insincere and about a non-genuine as can be. Did oyu know he drugged owen hart's drink and laughed his arse off when Owen reacted badly to it? Everything that didn't go the way Bret Hart wanted it was everyone else's fault. Bret Hart screwed Bret "The Hitman" Hart out of an amicable leaving and that's ALL that was the Montreal Screwjob. Now he moans and bitches about it when it was entirely his fault it had to be played out the way it was. By the way nobody was screwed out of anything other than a CHARACTER who resided in the fantasy writings of the WWF

    I like Bret as a wrestler, but I also am aware enough that hes not perfect either as most on here seem to think he is.
    The one thing I will always admire about him is that when he had an issue with someone in the WWE, NO MATTER WHO, he wasnt scared and went up to that person and said what he felt, as a man.
    A tough man.

    • @megavolt67
      @megavolt67 Год назад +2

      I don't think his biggest fans want to portray him as perfect, but just as definitely having more integrity than Vince or Shawn since a lot of Shawn apologists in particular try to attack Bret's character in order to put him at the same level of culpability for the Montreal screwjob (because these days when somebody does something wrong, instead of owning up to it, the preferred deflection is to suggest that the other side is just as bad).
      I've always thought Bret's side of the story was more believable but it's also obvious that he had little choice but to go back and work out a deal because of the power imbalance and not wanting his entire WWF career to be erased. And so because of Shawn's own popularity and Vince's position at the top he had little choice but to go along with the vague pretense that nothing truly devious was done to him (because he deserved it somehow), that everyone involved shared responsibility (and therefore no one was responsible), and so the hatchet is buried and everything is peachy.

    Greatest wrestler of all time. Flawless psychology, peerless match-building and the best seller there ever was (fuck Shawn -- flopping around like a fish isn't selling, taking a realistic hit and carrying it off until the end of the match is selling). Bret made every match worth watching -- it didn't matter if he was at the top of the card (just look at Bret vs Piper at WM 8).
    Bret always had the best matches -- and he never had the same match twice. He'd put both himself and the other guy over every time. Nobody came out of a match with Bret looking weak unless he was booked into a corner. Just look at SS 97: Undertaker lost, but he hit some big spots, broke the Sharpshooter AND kicked out of a massive chair shot; even then, after he lost to another chair shot, he still got up and followed HBK to the back.
    He was a top five technical wrestler, the number one psychologist/match-builder of all-time, looked a million bucks for his size, killed it on the mic in 97 and was one of the most principled, honest guys behind the scenes.
    Taken overall, he's the best there ever was. Hogan looked better, The Rock talked better, but nobody wrestled better than Bret, and nobody was as good across the board as he was. The business declined during his era and, yes, he wasn't a MASSIVE draw, but he drew well, and in a different era he might have been equal to a Cena while delivering superb matches.
    The WWE fucked him hard, but he still had it in him to forgive them and come back, and I'm glad they've preserved his legacy.
    Still love his shoots on HBK and HHH. Even after reconciliation, the man isn't afraid to speak his mind .... "4/10"

I’d take Chris Jericho Eddie Guerrero Kurt Angle or HBK over him all just as good if not better in ring and miles better on the mic. Let’s not get caught up in the moment because he’s the one talking.

    Brings back memories from the late 80's and 90's for me. Was a kid to loved pro wrestling as much as the next. I rarely ever watch it these days but that comes with age and priorities taking over, etc. But yeah.. Bret Hart was one of my favorite wrestlers of all time and even as a kid you could see the technical aspect he brought that very very few every did or have since then. There are wrestlers out there that are technical but that list isn't very long.

    Everyone calm down a bit. We're not Bret Hart or Vince McMahon, just spectators and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, seeing Bret's side - he was totally loyal, give him that credit. A huge asset to the WWF and was a devoted soldier. He earned his keep and pride. Now Vince saw from his perspective that he couldn't keep Bret for more reasons than Bret could see. The decision to "screw" Bret came with ultimatums. That 1: He couldn't walk into WCW as WWF champ (which Bret expresses he would never do.) 2: That if they pull off the Montreal screw job it would be a great piece for the storyline and the introduction of Mr. McMahon the character (further blustering the WWF) 3: That Vince would keep his integrity that if he says it has to happen then it has to happen. Now how Bret conducts himself after is a very emotional standpoint. He is hurt, he has every right to be. Vince made his decision, it's his company after all and ahs every right to do so. Now who is "right" or "at fault" for things happening the way they did - pure speculation from our standpoint as fans.

    What complete piffle; Hart headlined what was, until a few years ago, the highest verifiable attended wrestling show ever, SummerSlam '92. Hart offered numerous different scenarios in the lead-up to the Survivor Series, that were all turned down by McMahon. Also, if you think Hart wasn’t a draw, Michaels was EVEN WORSE; the bottom fell-out of business when he was champion over the summer of 1996.

    When Vince pulled the screw job, and before that insisted Bret take the WCW offer, Vince knew wwf was headed towards a sleezy direction. Sleezy didn't fit Bret. All in all as fans we got the purest wrestling champion outta Bret that we will ever get from any champion. For that I'm grateful. For what Bret was to fans and to wrestling I'm grateful. To this day my own kids who never even saw him wrestle, my own kids enjoy Brets matches & Hitman the champion most. Above the field.

  • @Slytherinsrule316

    i think it was probably a culmination of all the stress from the screwjob and Owen's death as well as the concussions and the fall from his bike that caused it... which means that even if Bret hadn't fallen off his bike he would still have had the stroke because he was carrying so much baggage

    • @Tourist-Q
      @Tourist-Q 2 года назад

      Mikey B I know my english...Bret is a wrestler and his main job was to entertain fans and enhance the standard of Wrestling;which he did splendidly..Though Vince was the boss of WWF,it does not mean the wrestlers are his employees/workers who work from 9AM to 9PM only for himself...Because Wrestling is an entertainment business,and many wrestlers are icons having millions of fans...So it is the duty of the boss to make sure that one of the famous wrestlers have a dignified exit out of his company...Since that selfish moron failed to do so,it does not mean he "spat out" Bret Hart...Rather he screwed Bret..
