As a Mario fan myself, it's absolutely ridiculous that some entitled fans think that Nintendo forgot about Mario because he hasn't had a mainline game announced. There are other franchises Nintendo has to focus on, you know, not to mention the plumber just got a theme park and a movie. If anything, I feel like Nintendo is focusing TOO much on Mario (and pokemon, but that's another story) since as you mentioned, Metroid only had 3 games this past decade (one of which isn't even good according to longtime fans) while f zero had none!
There’s a different team for metroid, a different team for Mario, they all have their own teams and work at their pace. It’s not Nintendo saying not to make metroid, it’s them not supply metroid with a team.
Earthbound, Kid Icarus, Wario Land, Chibi Robo, Ice Climbers, F-Zero, ROB haven't gotten a new game...

@@DDoodles_Calling them "teams" is so cringe when they're entirely seperate business entities you're naming. Mario Tennis and Mario Golf are made by Camelot Software Planning, for example, not Nintendo EPD. The Mario Party series was originally developed by Hudson Soft, and while now it's handled by NDCube, that's still not Nintendo EPD. Paper Mario is Intelligent Systems, not Nintendo EPD. But Mario Kart 8 was Nintendo EAD and the Deluxe port was EPD. Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario Bros Wonder are both EPD. While you're right about the production groups being divided, eg Production Group 8 working on 3D Super Mario games and Production Group 10 working on 2D Super Mario games, it's still mega cringe that you started throwing in games from other companies like Camelot and Intelligent Systems into your list.

As much I want an odyssey 2, it is silly to complain. Bowsers fury was a fun game and it was only a year and a half ago. And 2023 is still amazing with pikmin 4 and tears of the kingdom.

And what exactly is considered a main line game? Mario is a game where all his games are usually main line other than sports. Even if you want to just count Odyssey, what the hell kinda gap are you expecting? Just look at all the other games franchises. How many of them are lucky to get a game in 5 years? Animal Crossing fans had to wait 8 years.
I consider the 3D Mario’s mainline all of the other games are in there own sub series like new super Mario bros. The difference between Mario games and stuff like animal crossing is that Mario is much more popular and makes much more money that animal crossing ever will .

Yeah I totally get that’s his point. Although I do think 5 years is barely a gap (1 year if you count bowsers fury, which I do) compared to what some other series have. Putting in all the spin-offs was just for the bit.

Yes there have been plenty of Mario games lately but
1, we haven't gotten a brand new mainline entry since Odyssey
2, they've mostly been ports/remakes (NSMBU, MK8, 3DW, 3D All-stars, every game on NSO, Party Superstars if you wanna count that)
3, the sports titles have been releasing very incomplete
4, the Paper Marios have been extremely controversial and different since 2012
Yes Mario fans have been getting games but nothing really new that didn't have something wrong with it (besides a small handful of exceptions like LM3). we've been getting quantity not quality.
Good point. Mainline Mario and Mario kart are the only ones that I would say have been consistent in good quality the past decade. But I think i would prefer something fresh like a new donkey Kong rather than odyssey 2.
