    This channel has become one of my favorites. It’s totally different to see and hear these tragedies from the people who experienced them. Small town tragedies are often overlooked by mainstream media but this channel brings attention to them which I think is a good thing. Condolences to the families.

      @ That’s so sweet of you. I actually met Jolene at our local grocery store. We both worked there, but in different departments. She was such a neat mom, after Eric died she always had me do special Ninja Turtles birthday cakes for him. Her and the other 3 kids would go to the cemetery and have parties for him. His birthday being the most special of course. When I get to the cemetery I cry every time I see his monument…it has an amazing picture (in color too) etched into the stone, it’s of a Ninja Turtle. Sorry this is so long, but I thought it might be nice to share a memory of her. Absolutely beautiful lady inside and out. They all didn’t deserve to be abused, let alone murdered…all because of Rick. He was (is) a horrible human being. Thanks for listening sweetheart 💖

      I am so sorry for the terrible loss you all experienced.
      Typical family annihilator. Unfortunately, this crime was very predictable from his behavior. Had law enforcement known what they know now this crime was absolutely preventable. These offenders all share common behaviors that are far easier to identify now. Today his stalking and obsession would’ve identified him as high risk to do serious harm to his ex-wife and children. How heartbreaking that this wasn’t prevented. I hope you have support.

      @@ailleananaithnid2566and the Red Flag laws that many states have passed would have allowed police to impound his firearms until he was evaluated and the situation was resolved. It's usually called an "Extreme Risk Protective Order" issued by a judge, like an Order of Protection.

    • @stephanieann622
      @stephanieann622 27 дней назад +4

      @ I’m honestly not 100% sure how much law enforcement knew about Rick and his obsession with Jolene. But, I do remember her being afraid because no matter where she went he was always right there stalking her. I saw her last 2 days before the tragedy. She showed me an engagement ring she had gotten from the man she was with (sorry I can’t remember his name). I told her she should hide it from Rick because I knew he wouldn’t react well. I have a sinking feeling that it was the final straw in his demented mind. It’s just heartbreaking because she finally could see a beautiful future and he robbed her and all the kids of it. Sorry to ramble, I just miss her so much. This was/still is so traumatizing for everyone that knew Jolene and the kids. May they be resting in heavenly peace.

  • @jturtle5318
    @jturtle5318 29 дней назад +22

    Jolene was trying to escape from him, and that's the deadliest phase in an abusive relationship.
    It's appalling that she couldn't have him charged with stalking, or get an Order of Protection.

    8:30 I also don't believe that Rick doesn't remember what he did, because of the fake surprise in his voice when he repeats, incredulously-like, "They're all dead?" I am a doctor, and I DO believe he is faking it, because I'm a human being in addition to any kind of medical knowledge. Just LISTEN to his voice.

  • @ailleananaithnid2566
    @ailleananaithnid2566 Месяц назад +12

    At the time this crime occurred, law enforcement didn’t know as much about the family annihilator. While the accidental death of son Eric was a precipitating event, this killer clearly has sadistic psychopathic tendencies. He was not going to put up with being rejected by the ex-partner. So he stalked and terrified her. The contemporary understanding of coercive control didn’t exist then. These homicides are predictable and preventable, provided the courts treat stalking victims seriously. This was very clearly a high risk situation. Not only did he kill his former partner and their kids, but two other two little girls who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Truly wicked. His claim of lack of memory is absolute nonsense.
    The suicide note clearly demonstrates what a narcissistic (self centered) piece of crap this killer is. It’s the most bitter of ironies that he survived while all of his innocent victims perished.
