Thank you Dwayne for getting the information to put this monster in jail. Rehabilitation does not help most murderers in prison. They never change. Life in prison should mean life with no parole, the victim doesn’t have that opportunity to live her life.
This is in Canada. Our justice system considers 25 years is equivalent to a life term in the states. Why he only got 20 years is stupid, but I’m sure the judge/crown took into affect that he stayed out of trouble all those years, so they’d reward him. It’s a joke. It’ll make you even sicker when you look up the privileges hard time prisoners have here in Canada. It’ll disgust you. They get weekends in cottages on the property every weekend some with family and day passes. You wouldn’t believe me until you see for yourself!

I hope you're proud of your part in extending their misery, and in endangering the public. For a piece a excrement.
Took a few years but at least it was solved and great job on the sentence and and keeping him in jail. Rip now and prayers for her family and friends. Thank you for sharing this story.
Assuming he was brought up on Vancouver Island, parts of which are wilderness, the knife looks typical of one used for preparation of food in the outdoors or whittling wood. Perhaps his parents wished to encourage him to explore the great outdoors there. In rural communities knives are seen as essential tools for everyday life.
A family gave a no-good teenager son a knife as a present, then they recognized it was used to murder someone but "kept the secret because he is family" and then the murderer repeatedly complains about the "graphic language" of the investigators... Meanwhile, a young, hardworking woman was left savagely killed in the middle of the street! They could think of no other suitable present except a hunting knife? No wonder he turned out the way he did, and now he's out to reoffend again.
The fact that investigators are constantly trying to find clues shows their determination to find justice for the victim. The investment of time and resources in this case underscores the importance of solving criminal cases, especially when the victim is part of the community.
@28:15 The detective asked the wrong question. He should have asked "Well given that you deny involvement in this crime that means that the real perpetrator is still out there and possibly ready to take the life of another innocent person. Perhaps another kind, young woman with a family and friends who love her would be as devasted as the family and friends mourning her loss. That would be horrible don't you agree? So, will you help us quickly clear you as a suspect so we can concentrate on trying to apprehend the real killer? Furthermore, why did the detective not telephone Ryan Love's family and inform them Ryan was refusing to cooperate and allow them to possibly put pressure on him "to do the right thing"?

WOW! I've been to most of these places when in Banff years ago. Shocking. Good of Dwayne Jung to give the tip about the knife but what a creep to accept the $12,000. reward money for a murder. Personally, I don't understand how anybody accepts a "reward" for doing what is expected of them. Donate that money back to those who gave it with a stipulation that some be spent on a memorial to the victim and/or donate to the family for their expenses in this saga. It's blood money.

This episode makes me frustrated. They had a solid lead from a colleague of the suspect linking him to the knife via a sheath. They clearly knew what this guy looks by interviewing the colleague. Why did the police give up on this suspect? The police that worked on the case should be also examined. Something VERY fishy here.
I don't agree. The way the Law functions is often obscure and frustrating for us. We do not understand it at all - there are 100s of rules and regulations they have to follow in crime investigation - and so we should not use the term "fishy" about the investigative process. You are being grossly unfair.
@@quaver1239 While I agree with you about the various regulations and laws that could create roadblocks when it comes to crime and investigation. However, that happens once you're convinced the suspect is the killer and now on a mission to prosecute him "legally" in a court of law. These regulations and law you speak of can become frustrating because it can let a killer walk free. Now let's talk about this case and why you can't use this argument here. Either something fishy is going on or there were extremely incompetent detectives involved in this case. Let's talk about the facts. The suspect's description was known, murder weapon found, the location of the latest passenger pickup from the cab linking the victim to the hotel moments before her tragic death. What the cops knew: the sheath of the murder weapon belonged to the suspect, the suspect lived at the place where the victim was seen moments before her death, the suspect perfectly matched the description. Now what roadblocks and regulation prevented the police from doing their job and "investigating" and "interviewing" this suspect? Nothing. This is why this is VERY fishy. They only started "investigating" him after a man stepped up and demanded the police investigate this person.
