If you lease this vehicle now there is a $7,500 tax credit and as much as $20k of discounts total. It may have an $80k sticker but it leases like a $60k car now.
Hi I just wanted to mention that a lot of you information you said in this review was not accurate. I own a jeep grand cherokee summit reserve it is real Alcantara headliner real Palermo leather and real open pour wood. You might want to do a little more research before giving out false information to so many people just a suggestion have a nice day.
I have 1 also.. & support this statement
On average, I get 30 miles EV range on my Grand Cherokee 4xe. Much better than the official 25 miles.
Everyone acting like Jeeps could never command high pricing: Did you live through the 90s? Cherokees, Grand Cherokees, and old Wagoneers were all over the fanciest neighborhoods, just like Mercedes Wagons, Volvos, and Range Rovers.
Lol@ talking about reliability then bringing up German vehicles. Note: I've owned and done significant repairs on enough German vehicles to know what they are and what they are not.
Jeep has a consistent history of lower reliability across different engines, platforms. There are gems, but this is 2023, and people let their previous ownership experiences color their current vehicle purchases.
@@notsodelusional I don't disagree, but the insinuation of "why wouldn't you just get a Benz or X5?" is pretty laughable when the topic is long term ownership experience.
You rite Jeeps were in fancy neighborhood but the jeeps themselves were not fancy...
@@jermainec2462 When the Wagoneer Limited first came out they were most definitely 'fancy'. Jeep Wagoneer Limited was what started the luxury SUV craze. Not many made a fullsize SUV, let alone an SUV with power seats with full leather air/con, cruise control, forged aluminum wheel, full disc brakes, am/fm/cb radio, power locks, leather wrapped steering wheel, and a fulltime 4-wheel drive that had automatic hubs. Not to mention a big 6.6liter V8. This was the standard options list in 1978. They were fancy.
All the talk about price, but no mention of the hybrid/electric $7,500 Fed tax credit, and state tax credits. A 4xe Summit well-eqipped ends up under $70k.
Going from an 06 Sequoia to a 22 Summit Reserve 4xe was an insane improvement in ride and handling quality.
To be fair, anything would from 2022 would have netted a huge improvement but do respect you keeping a car for so long.
@@MotoManTV I'll take a 23 Hyundai palisade calligraphy AWD way better bang for your buck compare to the Grand Cherokee
@Maxwell Adams I wouldn't trust a Hyundai even next to a Jeep. If you have to literally avoid certain model years because of catastrophic engine failure and the dealers have a hard time getting replacement engines. It's difficult to look at the Palisade as an option when they do that. Jeep might have its own issues, but catastrophic engine failure isn't one of them. Not to mention if you want to go down a proper trail or a muddy forest road even a Summit Reserve still has a low range t-case, rear limited slip, and air suspension.
@@Maxwell1989 - The Palisade top trim interior looks cheap compared to the Summit Reserve 4xe.
Don’t forget, Hyundai and Kia lose more value than any other manufacturer!
I don’t understand these algorithms. You have premium quality car content and nobody views it 🤔
We out here
I just leased a 2023 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 4xe. Yes the MSRP was $81,000. Yes I was shocked by the price. I originally started the process by looking at a less expensive model in the Grand Cherokee line but with a lease credit of $7,500 on the 4xe plus several other rebates and incentives, the lease payment was extremely reasonable. Much less than the competing luxury models that you mentioned in the video. It’s a handsome and luxurious SUV and very comfortable. Keeping my fingers crossed on reliability. Thanks for a great video.
What is the lease payment if you don’t mind sharing? With not much down?
I just bought my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Anniversary edition. It's brand new. With dealer incentives, rebates, and EV tax rebates (especially for my state), the vehicle didn't come out to $60K+ I think if I recall, I'm around $49k-$51k. Which is a more reasonable price. The vehicle has been great thus far. I do a lot of freeway driving and my car will sit for a few days (airline pilot). I've had the car a little under two weeks. Just put gas in the tank to fill it up. I've traveled over 400 miles in the week (the tank wasn't empty, got it down to 125 miles).
Most of the country who needs to go off road, or wants to spend time off road or battling snow does not live within even an hour of a BMW, Mercedes, Audi or Porsche dealer. And if you breakdown off road, you won’t find a dealer nearby either. That’s one good reason why people in USA and Canada buy Jeep, GM, Ford, Dodge vehicles. Yes, it would be great if reliability on Jeep wasn’t an issue.
Love that you pointed out the difference on dest charges from Mercedes to Jeep. We got a 1600 charge for our 2022 Ford Escape plug in.
Crazy good car content my man. Subscribed.
Absolutely love mine! Better then the V6 version I had previously, and I loved that one as well. It moves! Very quiet. Great in the snow. Not too big or too small.
Great episode!
Great video! Would you say the superb ride quality is due to the air suspension in this specific trim level, or would you say the same for the trime that do not have air ride? Thanks!
By pronouncing Stellantis wrong on purpose, is this like your own subtle way of voicing your obloquy of Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge merging with Fiat? If so, it's kinda funny.
You are so right about spending that kind of money for that kind of reliability. Very much like buying a Range Rover.
Except the Jeep will be easier and less expensive to repair, for that off-road capability.
great review I have had 6 Grand Cherokees and I think they are nice but they are pricing has gone out of wack , going back to BMW X5
i'm getting the 4xe trailhawk next month, its a cadillac and rubicon mix, in midnight blue
That slow response is really weird. Did they perhaps make the total system mimic a stronger ICE, by just adding torque to the ICE output rather than putting it down from the hybrid side as the loud pedal demands?
Would normally never consider this or anything else in its price class, but considering the Chrysler dealer near me has a much of new-old stock inventory of these that have just been sitting in the showroom or as an occasional demo, I can get the base trim with most of the upgrade packages for about US$43,500 ($59,900 CAD).
5:37 Funny how you don't like the grey, I'm picking mine up tomorrow and I've asked them to change me from the black to grey (my current 300 is grey and I love it).
I own the 22 Summit Reserve. Fully loaded 5.7 hemi. Fantastic car
Thanks for this review. My wife drives a '12 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit. We've loved this vehicle. It's fuel economy sucks, but everything else has worked perfectly for eleven years. The 4xe was on our radar as a potential replacement, but at those prices we will certainly be checking out other options.
Side note...You may recall (previous post) that I had a '12 Charger SRT8 that was also a wonderful vehicle, but moved on to a '22 M550i, and loved your review on that. Several thousand miles later, I'm still in love with it, though it didn't come with some of the options that should be standard...360 camera and adaptive cruise control. And I do miss my heated/chilled cup holders...the Bimmer holders are poorly placed.
Probably said it before and will say it again, that M550i was a great driver's choice!
We have a 13 Durango almost fully loaded. I feel you love the car but the mpg sucks big time. Would i get another one no, only because of the mpg
If you don't use it for towing the V6 is a good choice. I have it and it works well. The 2024 Summit was $67k fully loaded with a $7k discount. This reviewer thinks the wood trim is fake. He's a moron.
I agree, its tough to dish out 80K on a Jeep with X5s and GLEs as options. Oh and that destination charge is ridiculous. Its got a nice interior though.
Summit Reserve starts at 68k. The 4×E drivetrain is what pushes the price up, so you don't necessarily need to spend another 10k for the PHEV version. Not to mention there are tax credits for buying the PHEV version.
Listen i luv jeep and i have this same summit trim in electric blue but i must say this vehicle has it problems and now im gonna really reconsider getting another one
If this is the Trailhawk version you can not compare it to BMW or Mercedes. This is an offroad machine with increasing ground clearance the only comparison is the range rover which I believe is even more expensive so be carefull you need to compare apple to apple and not to tomato? But I agree the price is quite high. I drive the smaller Compass with similar features and would not exchange it for any other car such as BMW or Mercedes or Audi!
"You don't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it." - Moto Brando ... on a car review. Epic
So glad SOMEONE picked that up:)
His reviews are very informative and he does not hold back on some of the bad
Except when he's flat out wrong.
So… I had one and returned it because the added benefit of the hybrid is a major detriment for anyone taking road trips. The engine doesn’t charge the battery so it require plugging in every night for a long time which is completely inconvenient. So what you are really getting is a 4 cylinder suv which is woefully underpowered for such a heavy car.
And to boot the MPG sucks.
I LOVE it. But crazy expensive. Top much depreciation too. Still....if money was no object I WOULD buy one. Sporty styling, love the interior. Win!
We went with the Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve Hemi, that's open pore wood on the dash. Crazy how these non L versions get priced the same or even higher than the 3 row versions...and I mean non 4xe equipped GC's🤦🏽♂️
Yep the 2 row is also open pore wood. Anyone with half a brain can tell its not fake.
Your review was very useful and spot on. The price makes it very difficult to justify.
V6 version of a fully loaded Summit is under $70k. Just fyi.
You can now get this exact car with less than 10k miles on it for around 54k!
Give me a Lexus with a similar price tag and superior reliability and I’d be a happy man.
I dont know if you can get a BMW X7 for 80k though..
It's called Stellantis NOT Stellatnis!
Just a small tiny correction: it is "SteLLANTIS" and not "SteLLATNIS".
$80k? For plastic piano black center stack that’ll scratch and show every dust particle on day 1.
I’ll keep my car from 2013 and no payment
Also,
18MPG FOR A 2.0T???? Real world my dad has a 2022 Explorer 24MPG
The MSRP on a fully loaded grand Cherokee summit reserve 4xe is $81,875. If you select the color white then you pay a bit less. It seems that none of the RUclips reviews that I watch for this vehicle ever get to that number. The $81,875 doesn’t include the rear seat video monitors, the high altitude package or the finishing package.
There's a $7,500 federal tax credit too.
Jeep has really stepped up their game on interiors, but I can't imagine a universe where I would shell out $80k for a rapidly depreciating Jeep with a dubious quality reputation. There are far too many options in this segment for this to be priced anywhere close to where it is. I foresee many incentive dollars being poured onto these vehicles from Stellantis in the near future just to get them to move off the lots. Also, I don't think a buyer at this price point is going to want a buzzy 4-cyl as the gas motor.
The V6 Summit is upper $60's and worth it.
$79K? LOL 😂
Actually $82K. His pricing was off
There’s Chrysler people and there’s BMW people
You, sir, are indeed correct.
You are so right!
You need to pronounce Stellantis correctly.
79000 USD for this vs. almost top spec BMW X5 45e (2023 model). Is it really beating BMW X5 45e?
$82K for this. His pricing was off
MSRP may be in the same range, but that's just the buy in. When it comes time to repair, the Jeep (as well as other domestic brands) will be less expensive to repair and maintain (non-warranty). Also, these Jeeps are now heavily discounted if you shop around. Other brands (including the larger domestic SUVs like the GM trio and Expys) seem to be stuck at MSRP+.
And I just can't see buying the Benz, BMW and Audi vehicles in the same range and getting them dirty. Seems uncivilized. Owning this I think is part of the buyers agreement.
Totally agree. Jeep is offering a 10% discount on a fully loaded Summit. I bought the v6 version for $67k that includes night vision, panoramic sunroof, passenger side hi res display, MacIntosh 950 watt 19 speaker sound system, etc. I looked at the GLE350. Nice but well into the $80's with similar specs as the Summit. I've owned 2 of them in the past and its just not as comfortable as the Summit. And you're right about the maintenance.
Exactly, people need to stop comparing this to the Germans. Outside of the G-Wagen they all build SUVs that can't do what these are capable of doing off road and when equipped to this level pricing goes through the roof! The only SUV that can blend luxury and off road capability like this is a Range Rover and those are $$$$. Jeep reliability can be iffy but to your point it's parts are cheap but on my 22 Overland I bought maxcare just in case but at 26k so far so good!
I guess Jeep wants to be the American Range Rover.
You mean Stellantis 😉
Good Morning MotoMan...the prices of the 4xe are sincerely overpriced but the same trims with the 3.6 v6 or the 5.7 v8 are far more reasonable and deeply discounted. Also there is a great amount of inventory almost 5 months worth both 22 and 23 year models..If most consumers can stay away from 4xe powertrains...there are some great deals...from $50,000 to 60,000 for Summit/Summit Reserve trim...In this price range the Jeep Grand Cherokee is far more palatable considering the flaws one may or may not face during the course of ownership...Just my humble opinion from browsing inventory within 500 miles of SoCal...Bisbeta!
Ben Hardy just posted a video about why jeeps aren't selling
Don't forgot to deduct $7500 to $12000 in tax credits
Good feedback, thanks!
@@MotoManTV Thanks MotoMan!...just returning the favor...
There’s a Jeff Belzer dealership in Minnesota that has a new 2022 base model 4xE grand Cherokee discounted $9500. It’s also eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. It had an MSRP of $64K. Therefore with the discount and the tax credit your final price would be $47K.
I own THE debut vehicle wk2 summit from the car show when they made the body change in '14. I only have 84k miles and just had motor mounts replaced (didnt know one BUSTED open.. the other was "bulging"...drove just fine (NO engine shake)....That said, these "4xe" with that kind of ev mileage is garbage. Thought i was interested in the new line up..Looking for something better!
This car will help you develop a friendship with the dealer because you will spend most of your time there.
ROTFLMAO!
Hybrid with 4 cylinders, yep, to me "premium" sounds right.
i like to call them citroen
$79,000……..😂😂😂😂😂😂! If the sales person would tell me that price….my response would be “I came to buy only 1 NIT 3!”
When the Stellantis shareholders raise their CEO's (Tavares) compensation package 22% year-over-year to $24.8 million in '22, you kinda expect prices to go up just a smidge.
This is NOT a Mazda CX-90! 😄
The sea of piano black on center console is there to make you remember you bought Stelantis product.
They've turned them into luxury SUVs. If you think a bmw is better than that, I urge you to test drive one. Trust ne lol. Even a summit of the older generation is such a nice SUV.
Almost 80k for a Jeep? Absolutely NOT !That's a nicely equipped BMW X5 with the legendary B58. Stellantis needs to finally bring that new twin turbo hurricane 6 cylinder to Jeep and maybe then....
I will say that I am looking forward to that inline 6 . . . and overall, like this renaissance of that engine design . . .
🤣 good to see you kicked off the tucked in shirt style
Greetings from Germany. I just purchased a 4xe Summit Reserve and it costs more than 100k EURO in Germany. It is the third Jeep GC in a row and I was never disappointed. Reliability has never been an issue although parts can be a problem in GY. I could easily get an X% etc for that money but I don‘t want that. Jeep is positioned higher in the German market than in the US and prices start at around 80k Euro but more importantly you get much more character from a GC than an X5. X5s and alike are nothing special in Germany and German cars have lost o lot of character over the past years. American cars have significantly improved on quality though at the same time.
pretty sure it's stellantis not stellatnis ...
Stellatnis lol.
If I have to spend 70k I would rather buy a Lexus hybrid or Phev
How can he not pronounce Stellantis
Did you mention $7500 tax credit?
I own a new Grand Cherokee, and I’ve realized that it’s not a luxury vehicle. (As much as everyone wants to tell you it is).
Luxury vehicles have luxury dealership experiences and luxury warranties.
Very good real world feedback . . . thank you!
I get the dealership experience thing. But even when Grand Cherokee was released, the base Laredo wasn't exactly luxury. I own a survivor 97' Laredo with 48k miles that has everything functional. They have a nice standard options list. But unless you bought an Overland or Summit, you didn't buy a luxury SUV.
running on nuclear actually. That was charged in your area either off a coal or Nuke plant
Great review versus heavy 4 cylinders(!!!) cow with solid interior trying to camouflage rest of the 80 grand money monster cookie....... thank you very much for offer, but NO WAY!
(I'm deeply sorry to all cows,it was just "almost" unnecessary metaphor)
I regret that I see this review now after I purchased my jeep grand cherokee 4xe trailhawk...witch I think is my worst purchase decision ever, u are perfectly right, this car is not worth 70-80k .u better buy a german suv and accept the loss in depreciation witch is same as owning a jeep....if I want to sell il now in less than 1 year I will loose 20k plus the comfort, quality and driving are years distance from an gle,x5 or land rover defender..fuel economy is the worst..I average 17 witch is about the same as my previous vehicle ram2500 diesel
@ 3:49 “I wouldn’t call this a crossover, this is a full on SUV”
The WL Grand Cherokee uses FCA Giorgio platform which is shared with the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio. Oh it’s a crossover allright.
"Lets se here" (fumbling with infotainment buttons0...drives off cliff
Don’t see a point of making it a plug in
The point is that we rarely have to put gas in ours because we're mainly using it close to home.
375hp and 470ft/lb of instant torque is the point.
A number of reasons. Yes, one of them is for folks like me who can drive it daily on 20 or so miles and have a place to charge it every day all the while giving the ability to drive it long distances on today's infrastructure. Then, there is the other reason - a great way to get around various tax schemes around the world. Displacement taxes, congestion charging, etc. . . .
Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is a "price" contender but not quality
This isn't luxury its a jeep its basement luxury but nothing like my 1988 Lincoln town car.
😂😂😂👍🏾
Glad you pointed out the big elephant in the room. One should never spend that much on a jeep
25 mile range is laughable. Chrysler should have are it at least 50 miles.
First mistake you made right in your description "In evaluating this Jeep against the likes of MB and BMW..." You totally lost the point anyone buys a Jeep to begin with and luxury definitely isn't it despite being vastly nicer than before. Think budget Range Rover... idk what other vehicle combines luxury and off road ability at this price point especially when you take the crappy electric version out of the equation.
The irony is in a very short time, plug-ins will be obsolete.. and forget keeping it past its warranty. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE PLEASE!
For every person who says this, I hear from another person saying phevs are the best vehicles to have for the next 5-10 years until bevs get better batteries and range and the charging network gets better.
Its biggest catch is its absolutely horrible reliability.
So for basically 80k I can buy a Jeep with a questionable powertrain that will surely fail, or I can buy Everything Else the Germans, Japanese, and Korean Automakers can offer....
Sorry Jeep, please bring that price down to something less ambitious if your serious about moving units.
So for 68k you can buy a Summit Reserve V6 or an Overland for 59k. The 80k price point is for the PHEV version. If you can find one, the Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit had the 5.7 Hemi optional.
Stellantis not Stellotness...all of your guessing is insulting. You are supposed to be a professional
Fiat
Trust me, MM knows exactly how its pronounced. He doesn’t usually feature FCA/Stellantis and I think he was just having some fun with the name.
Way too expensive. Nope.
No one, and I mean no one in their right mind, would buy a "Jeep Cherokee" over a Audi, BMW, or a Mercedes equivalent at similar prices.
They might do so over an Acura, Genesis, Lexus, or Volvo though. The value is just not there... These automakers seem out of touch with the realities of American consumers; maybe they're priced as such to execute larger profit margins on each sale.
I think the marketplace is making your point. The GCs are heavily discounted these days while the more upscale foreign brands are not. IMO there are buyers that would expect to use GCs for some offroad driving while the foreign luxury brands would never touch dirt. Except the new 2024 Land Cruiser based Lexus GX, which ought to.
@@ktpinnacle exactly, buyers who get the GC at the top level have the means to get a German luxury SUV but they couldn't do half of what this thing can do off road. An X5 can't ford 2 feet of water lol let alone have a low range mode or rock crawling mode lol.
Had a 2017 GC Overland with the V6…was 51k. Wow how things have changed. Bidenflation??? 😅
The price tag is worth it. It puts some Asian luxury SUVs to shame. The interior and tech are what you expect from a 100k car
The fact that jeep is making their cars this upscale showcases how far they’ve come and the cliche that jeeps are junk ooh adds to your ignorance
Motoman's exact words: "Reliability - not their strong point."
@@notsodelusional well motoman is missing the point. Reliability shouldn’t matter since every car is reliable for a few years. Plus this is a very expensive car. If you can afford to spend that kind of money reliability shouldn’t be a concern
@@naveenthemachine Most people are going to finance or lease, but they still don't want to have to deal with a vehicle with poor build / reliability issues.
