I love that you reaallly didn't have to include the whole segment of you trying to knit and totally changing your mind- but you still did. It accurately shows the creative process and celebrates making mistakes
I use the frixion pens to draw what i want to embroider onto the fabric. They erase with heat so you just put it onto a radiator or just blast it with a hair dryer for a few seconds and it disappears. I like it way better than the washable markers for embroidery since I've had fabric warp before when i washed off the marker. So yea, get yoursekf a frixion or off brand heat erasable marker :)
Omg I am quilting rn and realised halfway through that my iron doesn't work anymore and while I managed to press open the seams without an iron, I had no idea how tk get rid of the marks my frixion pen left on the light fabric without an iron. Your comment just saved me from buying an iron post-haste just to make white fabric look okay again
I literally finished my custom beanie, like, a week before this came out. 😆 I sewed velcro to the brim so I can swap out my embroidered patches whenever I feel like making new ones.
Since you're good at picking up new techniques, you should check out continental knitting! It's waaay quicker (and easier imo) Thank you for sharing your work, it's much appreciated and really inspiring to follow along through the design iterations. It helps me let go of my anxiety of failing, and empowers me to just try, and if it doesn't work out, just try again
Yes, just wrap your "working thread" around your left pointer finger like at the start (you can wrap it around some other fingers of your left hand, too, to control the tension of the thread), then you don't have to pick it up and use your right hand to wrap it around the needle. :-)
hiya shmoxd!! I've been making patches too for a while, and your outer border technique is definitely a life saver - but it can be tricky to drive your needle into a specific spot from the back! so I usually make a tiny stitch right next to where I started, to push my needle from the front to the back and make things easier! I don't know if this makes enough sense or helps you at all, but it's definitely helped me so I thought I'd share :-)
I started embroidery for a beanie project I'm glad you give me this tutorial keep it up (I never thought I would enjoy it so much manual knowledge rocks)
3:50 What is this wizardry!? He separates the floss so easily and it doesn't get all bunched, knotted and ruined...there's no swearing?!? No frustration!?! HOW!??! No matter which way I try, everytime I split the floss it turns into a huge ball of knots and is completely useless and I give up 🥴
maybe it depends on the thread quality and/or material? ive had both good n bad experiences w separating the floss, and i noticed that good quality ones or those that are like wax-coated (?) separate more easily :0
They also make perma-bond transfer tape - no need to stitch the patch on - just iron it on really well & boom, you can wash it fine. I had the temporary stuff where you have to stitch it on and the perma-bond is so much better/nicer to use!
I tried knitting many MAAANY years ago and I got the hang of it but...I stopped. If you could kindly do a re-teach myself video about knitting that would be absolutely amazing. The way you describe your process it gels better than any other diy/ creativity channel I'm subscribed to. You're amazing and an a multi-talented artistic genius. Keep doing what you do.
Lol watching you try to retract yourself how to knit has made me remember why I learned how to crochet cause huh? 🤣🤣 teach me your ways. Ok back to watching.
I absolutely love your videos. I'd love to have just 1 day making any art with you. I'd learn so much. You're a true artist. Thank you for your videos. Ive been obsessed for years now. Also, we dont mind you taking breaks when you need to. We all just appreciate what you post. Thank you.❤
I'm thinking that beanie you made could sell for like $60 or more. I mean look at the ones with just a smile face flower with different color pedals selling fir 60 to 200
I really wish that Shmoxd could collab with Simone Giertz! They both have amazing personalities and I feel like they would make some very creative projects together! Their channel is: ruclips.net/user/simonegiertz

ohmygod i have a few of those frixion-like pens i havent used for years... this is really helpful THANK U
That's what I use also. Frixion is superior.
Man, I learned how to embroider four years ago in one of your videos and to see you embroider brings me so much joy :)
I literally finished my custom beanie, like, a week before this came out. 😆 I sewed velcro to the brim so I can swap out my embroidered patches whenever I feel like making new ones.
Great idea: switching patches on Velcro.
Velcro or tiny push buttons. If that's what you call them.

You have anxiety about failing? I get it when I start something ): good luck with it!

just let it hang from the bottom as you separate it from the top
I need a compilation video of all Shmoxd's timelapses! So satisfying 😍 and the results... WOW
meeting the sponsor deadlines i see xD
As per usual
Ohhh, is that why an entire month of videos gets plopped on our feeds every end of month, now??
Brooooo that putting the needle in the middle of the thread is genius

What is the best glue to add to the back of your patches so they dont fray or come apart when machine washed??
You are such a badass. I wish you were in my REAL life. So inspiring.
I'm working on a patch jacket. I will Definitely try making at least one patch from scratch!

Try knitting hats in the round on circular needles. It’s easier.
another halloween treat
intro goes hard at 1.5
Did you make the cute tag yourself?
where'd you get the little folding tags from?
Could you list the names the specific products you used?
Next time try to crochet, it's easier than knitting imo & really easy to crochet in the round :)
Cool hats
Ngl.. I’m so happy (: thanks dude

is the stabilizer necessary?
Stabilizer is a lifesaver if you want to embroider on stretchy fabric. If you don't use it, your design gets all warped
@@jeanneb6320 oh, okay! thanks for the reply!
I can only crochet, knitting I am horrible at and takes hours
