Produce Manager Dan explains how to pick out a ripe watermelon. For more How-To videos, visit our RUclips page, and find us on Facebook at: WaterfrontHV
In summary, cream belly (NOT yellow, otw it's over-riped), dried stem (ripened), heavy, echo (look for bright, avoid dull sound), high light and dark green contrast (color depends on species) and dimple on the bottom (avoid flat. Heard that dimpled ones are feminine that ARE naturally sweet, lol, but it works). No absolute guarantee but better than wild guess.
whoever comes up with an invention to pick a good watermelon, will be rich. I have yet to find any really solid information about picking a good watermelon.
Still missing the most important detail when choosing them! You almost got it by the end of the video but not quite! I have an uncle that has a farm and produces several produce and one of them are watermelons. He told me that The main thing on choosing a watermellon in a store is to look at the at the "ass" of the watermelon. It has to be concaved and If there is a little stump that means that the watermelon was harvested before it was time for it to be harvested! Than you should do the weight and the sound check!

I'm watching this video at the grocery store 😂
Perfect 👌
Thank you1
FILL THOSE BANANAS!
Good one...
no shit, if you're going to make a video then get the department looking good first. same goes for that ugly cantaloupe display.
Forgot to mention look for a dried stem, if its green, don't take!
Also where it was cut from the vine has to be brown, if it's free the watermelon 🍉 was cut prematurely and green.

Did he put the bad one back into the pile?
Look for the brown, dry stem.
bout to get me a watermelon right now, thx for this
You can eliminate bad watermelons by those methods but not necessarily good ones.
Um I'm pretty sure the yellow spot is the sun spot, not from the ground...
No
