    I’m new to the channel so I thought Nathan was just playing Mark King stuff but when he said Marcus Kingus at the end it hit me… With a quick research I found out that Nathan is the younger brother of the legendary bass player Mark King! Mark got me started playing bass and I grew up listening to Level42. If any of you guys see this I just want to thank him! Thank you for bringing color and texture to my life! Your work made me who I am today and I’m grateful for it.

    I quite like seeing the Captain doing bass videos, mostly because he offers a good outsider perspective on the instrument. Good little surrogate for the parts of the audience who aren't as knowledgeable about basses.

      I'm in the US and researching my first bass. I've played guitar for years but I really want to start experimenting with a bass to record some ideas. I don't want to break the bank but want certain features. This video did an excellent job and solidified my decision to get the M2. Everything you said is exactly what made this video relevant to me.

    Just received my V3 in Natural Brown...the batteries needed to be physically pressed down into the compartment to activate the preamp, but that was a relatively easy fix, and the tone of these pickups/preamp is amazing at the price point...I did not have the dirt on the fretboard, but I prefer the strings run through the bass, so I swapped strings to flatwound and what a difference.
    also, the dealer in California, Pitbull Audio, are excellent and extremely responsive and accommodating. Once they learned of the issue, they offered to exchange the bass...I decided to keep the bass, and they said if I'd like to take it to a Tech for repair, THEY would pay for it...beat that! The string tree was also missing one of it's screws right out of the box, but that's got zero effect on how I enjoy this bass guitar. Bravo Sire...and thank you for high quality instruments at anyone-can-afford-one prices...

    The V3 and the M2 are indeed the best basses when it comes to value for money. I hope I'll be able to get my hands on a V3, or maybe I'll snatch one when it comes to my country

    Just picked a V3 up today, I wasn't even intending to get one as I dont care for signature/artist basses or active controls, but its an incredible bass for the money. Once I figured out what all the knobs did, I couldn't believe the variety of tones and the preamp is killer. The pickups are excellent as well. Thin body, decent weight, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges (one of the nicest and most comfortable necks Ive ever played) bone nut, steel bridge...this thing is a steal for $399. Thats only $100 more than the junk Squier Affinity basses sell for. The V3 is better than any MIM Fender Ive owned or played and darn close to American made Fenders that sell for 4 times as much. I have zero complaints, awesome bass.

    Gentlemen,
    Nice job! Details, details, details....very important. And appreciated.
    Occasionally (particularly with a B), you might want to spend a little more time with the 5th string, slowly playing and tweaking the basses eq. B strings can be a problem area, as we know.
    If I wasn't in the USA (and dealing with Sire's US rep), you'd have my orders!
    That aside, I'm a Jazz bass lover and have owned other brands with mahogany bodies, and am sold on the V3. In fact, first one is on it's way. The V3 will share the stage with my $3300 Warrior Bella '62 and I wouldn't be surprised if the V3 got more stage time than the Bella.
    Again, nice work.

    I went into Andertons yesterday and purchased the V3 (first gen) at the insanely discounted price of £199, this as a result of the second gen now being released. I've been playing drums for over forty years and dabbled with guitar and keyboards (all gigging) too. This is my first bass as I don't know enough to know what I really want or need in a bass. But, what I do know is this is just an outstanding instrument, regardless of the price. In fact, I bought the bass, along with a light case and a strap, both discounted and given all the support and service I received in helping me decide I almost felt guilty at paying so little. So my advice, if you know what you want in a bass, great, but if you don't you will not regret buying this, and what's more if you get in quick there are some old gen bargains to be had...

    Great review as usual guys! Love Sire Basses, been wanting and following them for at least a year, maybe close to two now. Great seeing Lee in a Bass video too! Man, those look and sound so good I knew, but this review was great in quick comparison and also tone changes while playing... not many out there doing that kind of review so well! Dude playing was throwing out some great groove (Nathan?). Cheers Team and Sire!

    Hey Lee please be more often in the bass videos, it is amazing to have a great musician from another instrument checking out and talk from a total other perspective :) maybe try out to have the other Lee on a guitar show when Rob is busy for example i bet the guitar players will benefit from the different point of view too :)

  • @keithmasey664
    @keithmasey664 6 лет назад +2

    Very good instruments for that price point, I've seen rubbish secondhand bass guitars being sold for more! I'm a guitar player and might get one just to noodle around on and get real bass rather than just the programmed stuff I'm currently using on my compositions. All my budget at the moment for new guitar type things is going on a Takamine Electro-Acoustic, but I'll be looking at buying a bass later in the year. I especially like the more modern look version and the 24 frets, if the 5 string is under £300 then that might be ideal for me. Nice playing by the way.

  • @etpslick100

    As much as I love the V7, the V3 has that sound and tone for a cheaper price. But cheap doesn’t always mean “cheap.” Sire did a remarkable job on the V3. They WILL fly off the shelves!😊

  • @soulisthegoal96
    @soulisthegoal96 6 лет назад +1

    Worth pointing out that if you prefer the satin over glossy neck the bass is cheap enough that you could buy a high end one and a cheap one with a satin lacquer neck and just swap them and the components over. You can pay almost £250 for a nice neck in some places!

    Wow! What an insight! I'd never even heard of Sire basses before. The Captain mentioned hoping that Sire would make electric guitars. I know you don't sell this brand, but I'd love to see you review an Indio guitar from Monoprice. I just picked up a Strat-style Indio for $189 US that, to me, seems every bit as much guitar as my MIM Fender Strat. Keep up the great work!

    I own a black 5 string V3. I love it. I play in a little cover band and it sounds great with this Carvin tube bass amp hooked up to two 2x10 Hartke cabs or my Ampeg BA 210 I use for practice. I put some Rotosound swing bass strings on. Great tones.

    IMO there's not a big difference between any of the Sire basses sound wise, I have a V7 purchased last July and it's a great bass for the money. I just wish they would make one with the neck a bit wider at the nut and smaller string spacing, oh and I had to get a ramp made, my fingers kept falling down between the string. Mind you it was hard to get used to after playing a 79' MusicMan for 38 years ! Well done Sire.

    I've seen your fairly extensive esp/ltd bass range and I can't find many good quality (let alone your calibre) reviews. Could you do one?

    Put a set of Bartolini pickups in any of those and you're really in business!

    SIRE is THE best "classic style" bass ... PERIOD. They feel and play like any high end bass I own or played.

    Any one know the string spacing on the 5string v3?

    Tell Kyle that the pickups pole pieces must follow fingerboard radius. Because, if is flat pickup, A and D string will always sound quieter if the bass is setup properly!!! On that jazz bass Sire basses, fingerboardradius is vintage and pickups is flat, that is not good combination at all!

    V3 or Squier Vintage 70’s Natural?

      V3 is much better, I have one and I use to play Fender MIM untill this bass arribed, now I prefer the Sire V3 much more, even in the sound and in the finish of the body and neck are much more superior than a Fender.

    Guys I know that bought the first Sires, say the pre amp is trash. One of the first things to go on these basses....And the cheap plastic knobs tend to break easily....Any truth to this ?
