    Having had both and absolute adore both. The GT just gives that exciting edge. I normally agree with you whole heartily on most reviews, but to say the GT is a little wayward at speed and not feeling comfortable when pushing is certainly not the case in my opinion. The car can be set up in numerous setting in my MY mode and you can go in to different modes at a push of a button to get it to fit how you feel at that particular time. I can absolutely guarantee you that the car will stick to the road like glue at super high speeds when heavily pushed and as stable as a rock. In my opinion it is just as comfortable as it’s lower GT LineS sibling. That is why I was happy to upgrade and the actual difference in price to get a near 600hp car is not a lot. To get much better road manners at high speed then you are looking at a Taycan GTS or maybe an E-tron Gt Rs. But both of those at similar performances are double the price spec for spec. Tesla MY performance is still too harsh in my opinion and the BMW I50 spec’d is quite a bit more expensive and very small in the back albeit lovely build quality. The big competition to this is as you mentioned the ioniq5N with even more BHP and a plethora of options to adjust about everything. So that will be interesting. Otherwise great review and there is actually quite a few upgrades now coming on the EV6 including wireless apple carplay /AA. 👍👍. By the way Mustang GT runs out of grunt too quickly and certainly can’t keep up. Not my thoughts but based on various You Tube reviews.

      Absolutely agree !! After 3 months of owning my GT I can agree with most of this excellent review, but for me it is real FUN every time I drive it. It's comfortable if you want it to be but can also be firm depending on your mood. By the way, I have one with sunroof - this restriction seems to be UK specific ?

      Same here. Albeit from the UK. I live in Sweden. I think it is a UK issue regarding sunroof. Maybe Kia cutting back costs on Right hand drive cars? Good news that Kia are finally releasing Wireless carplay update. 👍

      I love the fact that we all have a different perspective on this car. Now first of all, I really like the GT. Let me make that very clear. My wife loved it too, and it was how easy it was to drive that she loved. I do too, but when you raise the threshold, for me, it just started to lose something. It’s more of a heavy blunt weapon, less of a scalpel sharp knife. Some will love that, I just wanted a bit more finesse. It’s very similar to many of the performance EVs I’ve driven lately. They retain all the bits that I love about the standard car, but just go faster without making me feel I’ve got something a bit more special.
      I agree completely that the Tesla Model Y Performance is nowhere near as nice to drive, and the Mustang Mach E GT is more crude in its ride quality and in fairness, a lot of its cabin details and quality.
      Anyway, great to hear your thoughts, and thank you for sharing them as an owner. That’s what we love about this community.

    I have done over 5,000 miles in my GT - Staying in GT mode is high concentration stuff, and not suited for long spells on public roads, because it intentionally puts the car on edge so it can respond to steering inputs and change direction easily and quickly. Continuous GT mode works for situations where you are able to drive flat out, balancing the car right on the edge through the corners, and to do that the car needs to be on the edge as well, so you can maintain the balance. Obviously this is not really suited to UK roads where you would be way above the speed limits, and rapidly catching other cars, cyclists and pedestrians. That might account for the feeling you described on corners. You can only really STAY in GT mode on a track. The GT button is perhaps best used to get full power for tiny fractions of the time, but not a mode to drive on in traffic . Most of the time I am in ECO for the straight line / near speed limit / keeping up with traffic style of driving, where there is plenty of power to balance the car through corners. When I want ALL the power we can see why there are TWO drive mode buttons, rather than just having 4 on the same button. When you want maximum power coming out of corners you flick the GT button, get your mad acceleration, and then flick the other drive mode and drop back into whatever other mode you were using. I find ECO plenty fast enough most of the time, AND I get better range as well. Good review, and my thanks 🙏

    I agree with you - for the average driver, 0-100 in 4.4 secs (my Canadian EV6 GT Line Package 2) is just fine - even that is a party trick, and then you're back to 'normal' driving. The GT is built for a niche market, and that's fine for them too. My regular EV6 looks great, is fast enough, rides and handles great, and I love it!

    Great channel and reviews. One question regarding noise level, wheel impact feel, weight feel, compared to polestar 2. Which one is better? I can’t agree with big heavy cars. Ev’s are of course in this category, but even ice cars that used to be light, are getting heavier and heavier, ex this generation bmw 2 series vs previous, it added almost 200 kilos... The polestar for me would adres the need of a hatch, without the size of an suv. But how does it compare? Now the last question remains : How much taller?

    The Stinger GT was the car that changed KIA from being a cost effective car manufacturer to having a V6 twin turbo rear wheel drive Grand Tourer. That are now going up in value. Something the EV6’s will never do. I can say this as a previous owner of the Stinger GT and a current owner of the EV6 GT.

    Love the EV6 which is why I bought one. I do find myself wondering what I’ll buy next and the answer might just be the Gt version.
    It’s disappointing that the seat adjustment is manual.
    Excellent review, very comprehensive.
    Is the GT getting a facelift for 2025?

    Great review - thank you. If I was in the market for an EV6 this is the one I would go for, a great car (my wife has an EV6 GT Line RWD) made faster. I used to worry about getting the maximum range when selecting a car, but not any longer, home charging and an ever improving network of chargers make things easy.

    I have to say of all the channels AutoEV is my top choice now...thanks so much Brian for your great reviews. I am unsure if the GT is really needed but I guess you have the have the premium option. Personally I am a huge fan of Kia and Hyundai and have completely turned away from Lexus, Toyota ,Honda now.....I can actually see those three brands disappearing...wel except for the Toyota Land Cruiser....the Koreans are here to stay and we are all richer for it!

    I usually like and agree with your reviews but here, no, I don't understand. I test drove the regular GT Line EV6 and found it was a bit boring to drive, with too much body roll, but this GT is totally another car. And I think it's a perfect daily because in Eco mode you can drive peacefully (still with some nice power when needed), silently and confortably. And when in the mood, you can summon the demon inside and she becomes a beast, so you got two cars in one. Absolutely not agree that it's only great in straight line, it has excellent grip and control in turns too. So I choose this one for that but even more for the better interior (Alcantara finish on doors too, yellow stitching and much better looking and supportive seats), for the adaptive suspension which I think is great, and of course for the exterior look with those awesome 21" wheels. This GT comes after an I-Pace which was great to drive but who nows lags behind in terms of technology. And for me the GT is as great as the I-Pace to drive, and that's a big deal !

      Well I think it’s great that we all have different viewpoints on this. And don’t get me wrong, I loved the car, but I just felt that for 95% of what I want, the GT Line S AWD was what I needed. I agree that the car is perfectly easy to drive as a daily, that is one of the best parts about it. As I said, my wife drove the car a lot and she loved it. I just felt that when you really pushed it, it just didn’t quite deliver the tactile feedback I want from a performance car. More of a big thunderous blunt weapon, less of a scalpel sharp knife. Of course, many will love that, I just felt it lacked that final delicacy and finesse.

    For me I think the 4 wheel drive GT LINE S is the best car in the range which is the one I have. I wonted a bit more range than the GT offers and extra features like the sun roof and electric memory seats. Yes the GT is dam fast but as you say once you accelerated a few times then you will drive it normally and mine isn’t slow by any means.

    Its amazing that one of the prime attacks on EV's or model comparisons is lack of range and yet all of a sudden this is ok if it has performance. Doh!

      I think people have to prioritise what they want, and perhaps reevaluate how they use their cars. If you think about it, many ICE cars are capable of a range of 400 miles, but how often do we fill up ready for that occasion? If you're an EV driver, you choose the car that suits you and your driving lifestyle. I regularly go to Scotland from my home in the South of England, which is a 700 mile round trip, so I would always choose a longer range car over a "performance" EV. If you watched my review on the MG4 XPower, I enjoyed the car, but I think the lower powered Extended Range car makes the most sense. But many will sacrifice that range if they don't do that style of journey often for a faster, more dynamic drive. I think we will see a shift in buying priorities and how people actually use their cars.

      yes indeed I can agree with that however the difference in the ICE argument is the time to fill up and numbers of locations to do so which is why it is not so much a concern of on range with ICE@@AutoEV

    How would you compare this to the Polestar 2 (performance) in terms of performance, build quality/materials, etc.?

      The Kia is by far the faster car. Faster acceleration from rest, more mid range punch too. Handling wise, it’s close. I’d probably say the new 24MY Polestar is best with it rear biaised chassis, but the Kia is probably better than the previous car. Build quality is on a par, but I’d say the Polestar feels more premium. In terms of user interface and design however, it’s definitely the Polestar 2 for me. Dash is nicer, infotainment system much clearer and better to use. Not as much storage in the Polestar though. If you like to keep a lot of clutter in your car, the EV6 trounces that!
      Overall, if it were my money, I would PERSONALLY buy the Polestar 2. I love the design, the interior, the performance is more than enough for me, and I like the message the company puts out about their drive towards sustainability and good design. It feels a more premium product than the EV6 too.
      However that Kia is even being mentioned in the same breath is a feat in itself. The EV6 is a great car, and I’d be happy to drive one from now on. All I will say is, don’t be swayed by the acceleration. Look at the whole package, and for me, the Polestar 2 edges it.

    Seems a.bit bizarre to put the GT or Grand Touring badge on a car that has less range, less capacity, worse seats. Oh but it has a bigger motor so the short squirt acceleration at the Traffic Light GP is sorted. 🤦

    So the same as any performance electric model. A fair whack more cash for 0-60 times at the cost of driving feel and a huge range dip.
    I think thats going to be the norm across all electric vehicles just as it is with all fatty vehicles like Range Rovers in the past.

      Nope the driving feel is very good, and it doesn't feel heavier than many other performance petrol cars I have had. You get better seats for fast driving, better dampers, electric LSD, better wheels, and way better tyres, in exchange for a few thousand more.

    Arghh units: mm's, nm, kWh and then you switch to bhp instead of kW - As an Engineer its killing me. Metrication was passed in the uk in 1973. No need to reply it just doesn't make sense especially as we refer to electric cars and electric motors.
