clouds taste metallic is the most under appreciated album from 1990's....the guitar sound and songs are so original and epic....set the brilliant course for future lips lps.
@@ericsilberstein667 Released in ‘95, after “Farewell Transmission From the Satellite Heart” (‘93), which is truly their first great album, and “Zaireeka” (‘97), which is an ambitious 4-CD release that is supposed to be played on four different sound systems simultaneously.
@@thedmtfp What do you mean but? Wayne and Michael have said that once Steven joined everything changed for the better. Wayne explained it as once they showed up at Stevens house and he joined they started playing together and Wayne said that it was nice to have someone that could actually play instruments well 😂. It’s not a but, kinda thing it’s just a fact that Steven is the best musician of the trio and everyone in the band agrees so we all good 😊.
Some of the footage is shared with Fearless Freaks, but this appears to be the mini-documentary specifically about Clouds Taste Metallic that was streamable on the Flaming Lips website in the late '90s
I had a similar experience sneaking backstage at Vegoose in 2005. He talked to me for 30 minutes, got my address and mailed me a personally made mix cd! He's the most unassuming, egoless frontman in history. And man does he love to talk about anything and everything.
does anyone know how Ronald jones is playing this part at 8:48? I'm a huge flaming lips fan and a huge flaming lips gear researcher and im curious about Ronald jones and his techniques such as this one lol
Michael's face, with his hair and without his glasses, reminds me a bit of Krist Novoselic. Or, more like: Krist Novoselic reminds me of Michael with his hare and without his glasses amirite?
Ronald Jones, their lead guitarist at the time, always had a BUNCH of weird crazy effects for his unique sound. So, the guy, a friend of the band, says that if Ron gets one more pedal/rackmount effect, (sarcastically) he'll die.
Ouooouu yes,a friend of Wayne or some integrant of the Band say that: THE CLOUDS TASTE METALLIC....AIRPLANE WITH THE CARLINDA OPEN and see...yes see THE TASTE CLOUDS METALLIC....😂😂😂😂 KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK ACID DRUGS CLOUDS...HAHAHAHA 😂😂😂😂😂
Ronald was such a good guitar player that he quit 24 years ago and they still haven’t replaced him

@@dannyv8483 so this documentary in 95?
@@ericsilberstein667 not sure about the doc
this is indie documentary film-making at its best. so sweet, every shot, every sound
Man, Even back then Steven was handling almost all of the arranging. Damn he's good. Love watching them sort out backing vocals
They put on an amazing show!
This helps me get a "true" look into the life of Ronald Jones
"What's the best thing Wayne's got going for him? STEVEN!" - Gibby Haynes
+JackFromBeatStrings i love the band, but gibby is probably right.
Torrey Dunn Same.

huge steven fan, but the best thing that ever happened to him was wayne coyne. and not just musically.
Cool to hear ronald jones speak, even if he's just tryna find his Amp to make some weird noises with.
My boys at their absolute best!
Alas this is not the fabled upcoming documentary, but rather an excerpt from the 2005 documentary 'Fearless Freaks', which is very good.

Amazing Musicians!
That's weird. At 2:30, Steven randomly says "car crash," and then the film cuts to Michael.
The spiderbite song?
@@strangefallsthenight😂 Bizarre
That whole thing just really seemed too bizarre

They did, it's a cover of Nobody Told Me by John Lennon
