holy shit. those lights were more than anything i ever could have expected. even in their youth as a band, they managed to amaze. i only wish they would play tracks off Clouds still, it's their best work to date.
Thank you so much for posting this. I saw this show in Chapel Hill and that moment when the lights come on is still at the top of my favorite concert moments. I don't remember hardly anything else about the show, but I'll never forget this number. The best thing is that you could see all the lights laid out when they were still off, but you had no idea how dazzling the effect would be when they all came on at once.
i have this show- THIS ISSSS THEEE EPIDEMY OF THE ABSOLUTE BRILLIANCE AND SOUNDS OF THE FLAMING LIPS PLUS THE SHOW ITSELF- IT JUST IS A MOMENT IN TIME FOR THE AGES... thank YOU for posting-
Was There At Stage Right....The Video Just Can't Capture The Awesomeness Of When All The X-Mas Lights Came On....My Only Regret Is That I Hadn't Started Drinking Or (etc...) At The Time...Damn
Anyone know what the story is with those swirling Christmas light circle things? I think they're just lights in their original foam/plastic package but I can't seem to find anything like that anywhere online and would love to have some of these in my studio.
Everytime I watch this video the lights coming on always gives me chills

Best Lips song from the Ronald Jones era, in my estimation.
this is the most incredible video I've seen of a band this far away.
well, when time travel is an affordable reality, I guess i'll be at the Abyss in Houston on 22 May 1996. I'll see you there?
For certain.
I was at this show. The whole crowd gasped when the lights came on. Still my favorite live music moment, and it only cost like eight bucks to get in.
Ronald Jones, please come back!!!
I watch this video every so often and marvel at its delicate beauty.
Steven Drozd is a wizard on the drums
I miss Ronald.
