I do agree that it is awesome, but I don't know if it's underrated seeing as plenty of "Top X Boss Themes" lists have featured it, often in pretty high spots (Alex Rochon put it at number 13 on his Top 50, Rabbidluigi put it on 23 for his, Reboundary's Top 40 Final Boss Themes had it on number 17, etc)
Yes, I’m 7 years late to the party, but sue me: I was in the mood for this music lol It’s weird to think in a lot of these games, the normal civilians around your player character might actually look at you with the same fear they look at the big bad. They do t know if you are gonna snap and get to murdering with your super powers that they really cannot stop. They would have to know their safety fully depends on the PCs whims in the moment
When looking at some of the gameplay, cutscenes, and music such as the 2:38 part of the music and after makes me wander how underappreciated this game is compared to resident Evil.
I love this piece of art. Always get shivers around the halfway. Yoko Shimomura is a pure genius and without her, Parasite Eve wouldn't be what it is today. Without any memorable tracks (maybe one or two?), the second game truly lacks her.
I always thought the voices were saying "Si te alcanzo..." which in Spanish can either mean "I can reach you" or "If I reach/catch you...", the latter being a threat: "If I catch you...I'll end you" kinda deal, which is very fitting for what happens after the fight.
I have ripped the raw vocal samples from the song, they're not really saying anything, just a couple very short clips of chanting playing simultaneously. The "ya-ya" and "shi-shi" parts are actually completely different samples.
I'll give Eve this! Her second attempt at the U.B. really shows how terrifying the first one could have been if it didn't have the cells it was destined to destroy rebel against it. Though it still in the end is defeat via Cells rebelling against it, Bullets dosed in Aya's Cells! Ironically only being so BECAUSE OF EVE it's mother! Once again showing the greatest enemy to Eve's ambitions will always be Eve herself as the book showed, hell even in this semi sequel to it! Frankly when you think on it Second Eve wasn't the one we're dealing with that was born within Maya and took over Melissa! But she would be the THIRD Eve if I'm getting the fact Aya and Maya mother was suppose to be the Second Eve, but the damage from the car crash she caused assured no recovery for her! Must suck to have survived that shit show from the Book just to end up killed because the thing you survived the first time tried to reenact things again the exact same way! Only for it to fail so that's a plus! If not for Maya being a host, Eve collectively would have failed again! But even with avoiding the same flaw in her plan in the book to assure this U.B. wouldn't fail, Aya only became a thing BECAUSE of her as Maya's cells AKA HER CELLS grew within Aya and rebelled against HER plan! Meaning Eve doesn't have the support she likes to CLAIM she has from her fellow mitochondria! Hell even her attempts to take Aya failed because Maya or the Cells that made her up crushed her the moment she tried! Since 3rd Birthday isn't much of canon that it doesn't exist in the timeline thanks to SquareEnix itself! I think Eve and the U.B. are done for good after PE 1! Even the Mitochondria Eve fought at the end of PE 2 wasn't even HER as she loves to at least be talkative! But just the Power and nothing more and it had to take that by absorbing Eve Brea, a Young clone of the "true U.B. that is Aya". So I have to guess when Eve dies as Melissa, she died for good! Or the Mitochondria as a collective have successfully imprison her will that she'll never get a "Sixth" chance since the Book was her second I believe, Third was Aya mother, Fourth is collectively Melissa and when that failed Maya again at the Chrysler Building though the canon seems to place Neo Ark having somehow gotten that backup sample so the events of that ending never happened! Or a mix of it did in the canon ending because ho boy was PE 1 "bad ending" kind of stupid and made no sense that it was a "Big Alligator Moment" since PE 2 continues off that ending....I have to figure it was just a nightmare to justify Aya's paranoia with her Mitochondria as the issues she had in PE 1 and ESPECIALLY PE 2 backstory was her fear they might decide to go the route of Eve and take her over! She just has to remember what happened to Melissa and I'm sure she got more info about the "incident in the book" that if they decide to, they CAN take her over if they wish and another Eve could appear via her (Since the "True Ending" isn't canon, she didn't have the whole "them and Maya saving her from Eve" so she doesn't know Eve or the concept of her as far as "the will's of Mitochondria go" is pretty much gone for good after her multiple failures to rebel!) I mean she likely took "them keeping her at her peak age of 25", when this shit show started in PE1 when they awaken as the perfect example and just LOOK at her power set in PE2 compared to 1, especially in the FIRE department which is less fire and more the shit EVE was doing in PE 1! Aya has alot of reasons to be paranoid
Wow that helped me understand the story so much more. Actually I think I should read the book too, because even though I've played the first game and beaten it, I definitely feel the original story will give me a lot more insight. They did it in a way that anybody can pick up PE1, play through it, and can go off of the game alone. However reading your comment here, I think it's important to see the first and second Eve attempts to get a better understanding of the 3rd and so on attempts after.
@@hinachan70 They have a film of it! Much easier to find then a translation of the book (though it's been many years since I looked back at it, so that might have changed) but your better off NOT checking the film out before getting anything from the book as the movie changed ALOT OF THINGS (including the fact the "first" U.B. never even shows up at all. Eve and her host's husband die in each other's embrace and ON FIRE! PE1 follows the book as Eve #1 as I'll call the book Eve's host's husband died embracing the U.B. as it dies! Maeda assumes it was fatherly love, but everything else makes it clear he was protecting everyone else from the Pyschic backlash from it's death by sacrificing himself! Unlike Hans in PE1, he did have a "my god, what have I done" and tried to right the wrongs he helped faculatate when Eve manipulated him! While Hans was an unrepentant POS from start to end! Which makes his pathetic end fitting as Eve used BOTH men! At least in the first case, the guy did fix his mistake and went out in a heroic sacrifice, while Hans died a pathetic deluded fool FULLY PROUD THAT HE AIDED IN AN ATTEMPT AT HUMANITIES DESTRUCTION) The first U.B. had some weird ass descriptions that were the inspirations of Testuya artwork and designs of the NMC creatures, Eve herself and the U.B and it's evolutions (Guessing he, the writers and the director wanted them to be different as this U.B. creation was completely different then the one in the book! But the effect of it's evolution and multipule forms is still there! Especially evolving to a point where Aya, the literal anti-body was a joke to it! Scare enough that if it evolved any further! Even the battle cruisher exploding on it might not have been enough! But I can assure you, the form it chased Aya in seems REALLY weak compared to U.B. in the book who was killed via a minor critical error on Eve's part) Just remember PE 1 & 2 are sort of "what if" continuations of the Book as the book clearly ended with all samples of anything with Eve's DNA destroyed! Where as the games play off "what if that scenario of her successfully destroyed didn't happen and said "what if Eve was able to leave a trace of herself in the girl she had chosen as the mother for her U.B. child instead of her supposely being freeed of it (and supposely moving to the US, marrying a white man and having two daughters with him....and the nightmare beginning again only not so contained as it was in Japan.....they did make an error on the girl's age though when she WOULD have done all these's things! But I chose to ignore that LOL)
Same but I don’t think its possible 😭 i mean most final fantasy sountracks come close & i think bravely default had a great battle sountrack but thats it , this was just another tier
Well, now I know where Yoko Shimomura got the obsession with the "revolving organ" thing she did for Organization XIII's themes in Kingdom Hearts.
It started even back in Live A Live with Pure Odio theme.
Revolving organ?
@@Jose_Doehe probably means the organ arpeggios in the third movement
If you told me back then that this game and Super Mario RPG has the same composer I wouldn't believe you

That's like, the best part. :D
are you feeling it now mr. krabs?
yeah it's like the song has a jump scare in it lol

It was legendary when Daniel leapt out. The camera angels and cinematography of it was phenomenal
Yoko Shimomura-sama tied this entire scene together with such grandeur and had me in awe. Why can't Square-Enix recapture this greatness?!?!?!
