    A quick doot about the mac pop ups and folks saying it's because I'm not using the bra "case". The pop ups were happening while I was using them with my iPhone! I was actively listening to a podcast with a device synced on the same iCloud account and for some reason they were desperate to sync to two devices. Off my head and not on a stand they don't do anything annoying at all.
    Also folks saying no case is why they didn't sync properly too but I've been happily using them for 8 months before any syncing issues kicked off. Besides, a lot of bluetooth headphones pull that trick on me! Mice and keyboards as well...
    Bluetooth devices fit really well with a lot of peoples lives and hustles but I'm happy going back to ye olde cable 📼.

      Honestly i agree with you especially on the going from bluetooth back to cables, i recently switched out my PC headset out from a wireless steel series headset to a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pros and i can honestly say that im not bothered much at all by the cables, i thought i would hate having to take off my headphones and having the tethered but it really isn't that big of a deal and especially if using wired headphones on mobile devices i don't see the huge appeal of not having them wired, especially like you said the reliability of a cable is just unmatched, and maybe that is just the fact the bluetooth tech hasnt reached its full potential but everytime ive used bluetooth or wireless headphones there's always some BS at some point that leaves you frustrated and makes the cabled headphones look oh so tempting

      "Not using the case makes syncing issues" is a super dumb excuse. What does the case have to do with the headphones syncing? The case has no electronic parts whatsoever. I don't understand how a case can help with anything, other than carrying and protecting stuff.

    "Too smart for their own good." That's the history I've had with most Apple products, tbh. Apple makes a lot of decisions for you and as long as you fit the intended use, Apple products are a wonderful experience, but I always enjoyed doing my own thing my own way so I always found modern smart devices getting in my way more than anything. Other tech companies, including Microsoft, are moving towards that direction, except that their intended experience is inferior because they don't really understand what people want lol

      This is why I use Linux.
      It took some setup, I've had to open a text editor and write some scripts, but like...I make laser-etched signage at my job. Usually, someone will give me artwork that's intended to be displayed on the internet to turn into a laser-cut sign. This means it's a color PNG with a transparent background. When I used Windows, I had to open up a raster editor like Photoshop and go through menus removing the alpha channel and desaturating the image to greyscale so that the laser software understands it.
      Now on my Linux machine, I've got it set up to where I don't even open an app. I can select a PNG file in the file manager and click "Desaturate" and it runs imagemagick and just does the changes. And it works on selections of multiple files, so I can just drag a rubber band, right click, click one thing and dozens of files are just done.

      Talking about Apple phones specifically, I've played around with a bunch of different ones, from Android and Tracphone to iPhones. I, in all caps, LOVE Android. I can do almost anything I want to with an Android phone, depending on the manufacturer. However, I found myself getting really frustrated with app glitches, so I decided to switch back to an iPhone and see if the experience improved. In some ways it did and in others it left a lot to be desired. I, in all caps, HATE how non-customizable iPhones are. Other than choosing a phone color, engraving and changing wallpapers, there is nothing I can do to differentiate my iPhone from someone else's. However, apps are mostly far more stable on iOS than Android. As far as my phone goes, I've found that I want something quick and reliable, and iPhones deliver on that with flying colors.
      ...but I'll never switch to an iMac over the PC I built lol

    • @theparkourhobo
      @theparkourhobo 2 года назад +22

      Yep, you hit the nail on the head. Apple's style seems to be "we've set this up for you, and there's less settings so that it's less confusing." I personally really dislike that ethos, but I understand why some people click with it. But _so many_ companies are trying to copy that - despite a sizable portion of their customers getting annoyed - and they're not even doing it properly. They just randomly remove settings and features to make things more "streamlined".
      Like, Windows recently removed the ability to have your screen brightness change depending on whether your laptop is plugged in or not. Macs will do that, Linux will do that, my phone will do that, even my freaking 3DS will do that, but Microsoft took it out. And what was their reasoning behind that decision? Here's a direct quote:
      "Microsoft heard your feedback about a specific case where a display can become brighter when transitioning from a battery charger to battery power...If a person adjusts their display brightness, that brightness will now be remembered as their preferred brightness whether they are on battery or connected to a charger. This new behavior results in a more consistent and battery friendly experience."
      (Source: www.tenforums.com/tutorials/44213-adjust-screen-brightness-windows-10-a.html)
      So basically: a couple people had a mildly annoying issue with the feature, so instead of fixing it, or even turning it off by default (but letting you turn it back on), they just completely removed it. For a very mild problem that probably wasn't affecting many people anyway.
      I can't stand using Apple devices, and I mainly run Windows, so you can be sure I mean this from the bottom of my heart: _Fuck Windows._ And Microsoft. And their "battery friendly experience". This shit is borderline anti-consumer. If I'm ever able to adjust to working in Linux, I'll jump ship in a heartbeat.

    When I got my APMs, I had lots of the same issues as you. Then, apple released a firmware update, that fixed everything you’re describing for me. I can guarantee your headphones haven’t been updated, for one reason: they only update when they’re in the case! Try letting them sit in the case for a while, plugged in via lightning, with an iPhone unlocked next to them. Leave ‘em for like 20 minutes and that should do the trick! I’d be surprised if many of your connections issues stuck around.

    Personally, I find that Bluetooth headphones only really work well in one situation alone: when you need to listen to something while doing manual labour/ stuff with your hands and you can't just play it out of a boombox or something (like if there's others around that you don't wanna bother) . I can't tell you how slowly that stuff goes when you're also dealing with a dangling cable without awkwardly tucking it in your shirt or something.
    Otherwise yeah, wired headphones desperately need to be mainstream again.

      @LuxEternis 2 года назад +49

      @@brando12343 cables are a slight annoyance to convience at the cost of being cheaper, having superior sound quality and infinitely better mic quality. I do love wireless for it's convience when I want said convience. But there are close to no wireless headphones that'll sound as good as top of the crop wired headphones. And if they do exist, you pay a massive premium for not having 1-2 cables. I'd much rather pay half of the airpod maxes to get something that sounds better but just needs a cable. It's a minor annoyance imo. In certain situations however, I can totally see how a cable could be much more than a minor annoyance. In general, we should just be allowed to choose instead of being forced the more expensive path because it's wireless.

And I'm constantly shot down because "wireless is so cool, it's so much more convenient, well I've never had an issue" and like...I just want cables again. Cables are reliable. I breathe for cables.
    It's gotten so frustrating how much tech companies are trying to kill the headphone jack. Even when it was first removed I could pop on an adapter going from usb-c to aux, but I got a Samsung Galaxy s21 and now none of those adapters work anymore. Phone just says no. It literally brings up a message saying it won't do it. So Ive been stuck with wireless buds for months and they work...fine...about 90% of the time. But then there's that last 10% and the battery not lasting long enough for a full day at work.

      Some phones can output analog sound through the USB-C connector; then the adapter would just route some wires to a different connector (passive). Some phones can't do that; then the adapter would act as an external DA converter and amplifier (active). Maybe S21 can't output analog sound from the connector; then you need an active adapter.

      Nintendo has extensive testing of all their products. They know mostly kids/teenagers will be receiving their products so they test them as such. Every single device theyve developed goes thru multiple rounds of being dropped and or thrown and or having stuff poured on it.
      I've seen multiple PS1s with a broken hinge and not a single GameCube with one. There's a test someone did on RUclips with multiple consoles and they basically smashed a GameCube to fuq, like they really abused it and had it in multiple pieces- and it still turned on.

    • @amateurprogrammer25
      @amateurprogrammer25 2 года назад +11

      DSi's actually turn off when you turn them off. They don't have to do anything except wait for somebody to push the power button. They don't have to listen for wireless signals, they don't have to keep some background task running, they don't even have to remember what you were in the middle of when you turned them off because all of your save data is stored on the cartridge. Literally all they need is a tiny circuit that sits between the battery and the rest of the DS that waits for somebody to push the power button and then connects the two. The amount of power that takes is comparable to taking the battery out of the console entirely and letting it self discharge.
      If you leave a game on and just close the lid, it doesn't have to power the screens and the CPU can go into sleep mode, so it doesn't take as much power, but it won't last much beyond a week.
      The 3DS, on the other hand, has StreetPass which is constantly transmitting WiFi signals looking for other nearby 3DSes so they can exchange Miis and stuff. If you're in the middle of a game and just close the lid of your 3DS and go to bed, it's a 50/50 shot whether it'll still have juice the next morning.

    Man I gotta say I agree, I’m pretty done with wireless headphones at this point. I’ve had 2 older cheapo pairs of wireless and 2 sets of AirPods Pro’s (my first pair died after only a couple years and I still decided it was worth another pair because I find them THAT GOOD), and while it’s hard to overstate just how convenient they are, I’ve gotten really sick of them.
    In addition to all the reasons you’ve mentioned, I feel like they’ve changed the way I listen to music for the worst. It’s similar to how I don’t really watch movies anymore because I’m too busy wasting time on Instagram and other cheaper, quicker payoff forms of media. I find myself mostly listening to playlists as background noise for sometimes like 2 or 3 minutes at a time, and getting sick of music in general which is a newer feeling that I really hate.
    Having unfocused music constantly shoved in my ears has drastically lessened my appreciation for music in general, and I think that going back to the more focused wired experience will make a lot of that better.

      Me too to an extent. After about two months of use, my Sony XM4 earbuds started occasionally, randomly sensing touch inputs on the left bud when I wasn't touching it. That would turn noise cancelling on and off and sometimes get it stuck in quick attention mode. Other times I would tap, and it would take a ridiculously long time to switch modes. Luckily, Sony is sending me a brand new pair, but if it has the same issues, I'm done...

Audiophiles will name numerous headphones that are better that the 7506’s, but also will generally admit there’s nothing specifically wrong with the 7506’s sound (unlike most trendy brands); only the foam pads can be a comfort issue, and there’s are lots of after-market and cross-brand-compatible pads available (I use a set of Beyer-Dynamic pads). My Anker Life P3 earbuds, though I really like their build quality and noise cancellation, have been a mess. They’re my first pair of wireless earbuds so maybe I’m missing something, but with these I keep experiencing two main issues: 1) the left earbud is almost completely silent and practically unusable even after cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol like Anker suggests, and 2) they just will not stay in my ears; maybe I’m fiddling with them too much, but they eventually just start slipping out after wearing them for more than an hour, and the noise cancellation seal gets undone very frequently to the point of immense frustration and distraction.
      Point being, I have since switched to a pair of AKG N700NC M2’s, which avoid both the issues I’ve mentioned above, sound excellent, and feel great to wear for long periods of time. Would highly recommend them, if you can dish out some extra money. I’d say they’re worth the investment if you need them for daily college life like I do.

    This video pretty much sums up my understanding of the entire Apple ecosystem.
    1. Their hardware is engineered with the hyperperfect world of AutoDesk, not in the real world polluted with cat hair and fingernails. Any dust gets in a butterfly keyboard, you have to replace the computer half of the macbook. Sweat on a magic mouse, she's done bois. You held an iPhone? In your hand? What's wrong with you? Those hinges clicking? They're probably not designed to last long enough to wear in; the micron of lubricant they put in has probably evaporated and now it's metal on metal. It's designed to look really cool during the keynote presentation, on the shelf, and for the first five minutes out of the box.
    2. Their whole ecosystem is designed to integrate seamlessly *or else*. "It automatically pairs with all my devices and there's nothing I can do about it." What If I need or want a workflow other than what a California hippie chose for me? Apple can't handle that.

      This is why I like the idea of those little adapters like the Fiio BTR5 he has - or my Shanling UP4 which is slightly less powerful but great value.
      You can choose whatever headphones you want, hell I can even drive planars on this thing via balanced 2.5mm output and still get great sound and battery life.
      And yeah the battery will eventually wear out like all things, or the electronics may randomly go up in magic smoke.. but then you just get a new bluetooth box, the headphones are still fine
      My usual daily setup is open back Audio Technica ADXs, with a super short cable and the Shanling clipped to the headband. I don't even know if you can buy wireless open backs, but I have some now!

    TWS headphones with a case seem to fix a lot of these problems: you have several hours of warning if the battery is about to die (at least if the case has an indicator light), they don't try and do anything if they're in a closed case and they seem much more likely to have wireless charging than over-ears so if you have a dedicated place to put them then they'll never run out of charge (until the battery goes kaput after a few years). It doesn't stop the annoying notifications/calls etc. if you're listening to them and it doesn't fix the crappy mic but it's definitely a quality of life improvement

    I spent so much time saving up for the Maxs so I had some nice headphones for when I’m making art and doing critical listening, but I decided to just get the Sony XM4s instead, and honestly, I’m so glad I did that. They sound amazing, the noise cancelling is incredible, and they connect easier than my AirPods most of the time.

    I eschew the movement towards wireless everything in most things I do, for many of the reasons you mentioned in this video. I've got a wired keyboard, wired mouse, wired earphones, wired internet etc - it (usually) has a superior function to its wireless bretheren. I recognise there are definitely valid cases for using wireless, but if I'm given the choice, it'll be wired 99% of the time. It's disappointing at times to find products to cater to this market at times - I've been after a set of reasonable USB-C headphones for a few years now, and nothing. It's all wireless.

      Nope. It just puts them into a "sleep mode". Mine would sometimes stay connected while in the case, but then mine were defective, so maybe that was just one more issue they had.
      I'll tell you what that case DOESN'T do - protect the headphones. The corners and headband are completely unprotected, and those are the areas most likely to be scratched and beat up.
      There are some good (and some bad) 3rd party cases available that are real cases and put the APM to sleep as well. Sad that after paying $550 for a pair of headphones, you have to shell out another $30 or so to protect them... and another $35 if you want to plug them in using a wire...

    7:27 - *SAME!*
    I think the biggest problem with this for me is my Logitech MX Ergo Trackball. Logitech... It is a TRACKBALL. It doesn't need to move around on the desk, EVER. Why is this thing wireless?! Why does it have a battery?! Why do I have to remember to charge it?! Just make a wired version, where I just plug it into the computer and never worry about it again! There won't be any problem with cable drag as I use it, because it _DOESN'T MOVE!!!_
    And I'd just leave the charging cable in it all the time so it's always at full charge, but Logitech went and used a whiny LED. When the LED on the mouse is on, it makes a high pitched whining noise. When it's charging, it blinks on and off constantly, so I have to remember to plug it in before I stop using the computer and walk away from it for the day, because I don't want to hear the whining. When the battery is fully charged, the LED stays on, so the whining stays on. This means I have to unplug it so it shuts up, and now I have to deal with remembering to charge it again in the future. Ugh, I hate it.

      7:55 - Haha, this too. I kinda wish Apple would bring back the iPod Touch... I might just use one of those and throw my phone away. Oh no, I won't get calls about my cars extended warranty anymore, how will I go on?
      And yes, I have the same rule for the phone ringing. I'm not answering, leave a voicemail. If you didn't leave a voicemail it must not have been important.
