      I threw some 0w40 platinum in my 6.0 powerstroke to see if it will reduce stiction throughout this winter
      So far:
      It was easier/cheaper than aquiring Valvoline Blue 5w40 (and at this point, I want to try 0w40's anyways) all the 5w40's still had stiction of some sort last winter.
      -Hot shots secret didn't seem to make a difference
      -Archoil didn't seem to make a difference
      -STP ceramic oil additive didn't improve the stiction
      Im moving on to stronger detergent base oils for 'varnish' at this point, although CENEX Maxtron Enviroedge 5w40 was interesting, even though it has a very very strong detergent package. Im starting to think between Pennzoil and Valvoline blue I might find the results im looking for, in 0w40's.
      If I can't get Valvoline blue in 0w40, ill get their euro spec 0w40.
      I wont run these oils much past 3k miles anyways because I like quiet injectors.
      After all this time, about 1500 miles into a new oil, the oil if I understand it changes.
      In the beginning of new oil changes, I get low oil temps where my coolant surpasses the oil in heat tempratures.
      In the middle of the oil change, the oil warms up faster than the coolant.
      I start thinking about oil changes when its above 12 degrees delta on the warm ups. And I can hear the difference as well.
      in fact I have a jar of archoil mixed in with some STP 5w40 and the oil sticks MORE than quaker state 5w40 with some Militec-1 gun oil.
      As I understand it, the castrol magnatec/royal purple synerlec/Militec-1's are in the gun oil familys of chlorinate/sulphated esters.
      Suppusedly people don't want chlorinated esters in their motors because its chlorine, it can make some funky chemicals. Pretty good at rust prevention tho.
      These experiments are fun.

    Run this oil for the first time 5k miles ago i just changed it yesterday and i also have catch can on the 2013 sonata. The varnish and n the bottom on the can was crazy means it cleaned a lot of the engine. Car still burns oil on the 1k/1qrt range but will see how it goes. Few things improved: car is very responsive on the pedal and on the cruise, mpg went up 2-3 miles for now, and catch can has way less blowby. Before i had full catch can in 1k miles now 1/2 can in 5k. Drastically improved the blow-by and the oil was blacker than black when flushed. The mechanic even asked why oil is so black 🙂 overall great oil so far and i see results, expecting less oil bur in the future

    I'm a recent convert to the Valvoline R and P. I've seen enough people's experience to trust it does what it says it can. I'm starting with low-miles (8200 and 3400) on each vehicle, so it will keep sludge from forming in the first place. Also, the WIX site has a filter specification page where you can find any filter they make. It's handy if you already know the seal size, thread and pitch, which is shown on the filter look-up page for your car, then you can find exactly what you want. I made my own by-pass filtration system using a lube filter with a 10-micron rating. I have it plumbed from a filter adapter with an extra output port, into the top of the filler cap. It works well and cost only $10, compared to a big name brand for hundreds. I been reluctant to comment for a year, or so and I know this is way off topic, so try to be nice to me for going off track ;-)

    • @jeffs3917
      @jeffs3917 8 дней назад

      @jamesplitkin4674 just to share my own experience, if you still plan regular oil changes, then a 10-micron bypass can only help you.
      But for extended oil change intervals, 10 micron is not fine enough; it really needs to be about 2.
      It sounds like you plan regular oil changes anyway, but absent regular oil analysis, I've seen people use a bypass of only about 10 micron, and still develop sludge from extended OCI.
      Yes, a proper bypass system will more likely be hundreds. We have several of them on multiple vehicles. As an example, just the vehicle I am driving today has over 50k since the last oil change, and its spotless and clean as a whistle inside. Last analysis showed the oil cleaner than new. I hate changing my oil, so to me it was way worth it.
      If you're going to still do regular oil changes, then again from what I've seen, the extra 10 micron filtration can not hurt, and can only help you 🙂

    I have a 2019 Nissan 370Z with the VQ37VHR(3.7 liter) engine. I use a filter for the 5.6 liter Nissan Titan which is identical, except that it is about 50% taller than the recommended filter. In addition to the larger capacity, another reason I like it is that the 50% greater filtration area will result in less pressure drop across the filter medium, about 6 or 7 psi by my estimates.

    Did 4k on the first round on a ‘03 matrix 350k on the odometer. Of all the synthetic oils I ran in this car this one came out looking like coal, so I know it’s doing some good. It burns oil like crazy though, topped off with 2 quarts in that 4k, so had to intervene with some Lucas high mileage oil stabilizer. Did an oil change yesterday so round 2 of the restore and protect plus 1.3 quarts of the Lucas.

    • @MarzNet256
      @MarzNet256 7 дней назад

      It's sounds like it may have dissolved some buildup that was helping seal valve guides (are you seeing blue smoke on startup after car sits overnight?). I've been thinking about using this on my 06 Matrix with 227k miles. It burns about 2 quarts between 5k oil changes. Not terrible but I thought I could improve this with VRP. How much oil was it burning before VRP?

    • @Feckoff730
      @Feckoff730 4 дня назад

      @@MarzNet256no blue smoke on startup and that’s with the car sitting for 5 days. Consumption seems to be about 1/2 quart less when I use the Lucas high mileage oil stabilizer. Did not use Lucas in round 1 of restore and protect, I’ve added it to round 2 just to see if there is a difference in consumption. Car does not burn oil in town driving, but consumes at highway speeds. Hoping the oil frees up the oil control rings since this is a major problem with the 1zzfe engine. Also added a 1/2 quart to the overall capacity due to the TSB That was released many years ago, basically blamed that ring coking was due to not enough oil in the sump.

    My Accord’s oil was smelling like fuel, I tried running some fuel cleaners through it. Low grade fuel affects engine wear significantly. STP 1 Tank Tune Up works pretty well and cleans the fuel and exhaust systems; I think it’s mostly just straight run kerosene. Lucas Fuel Injection Cleaner does seem to improve compression a bit, but it definitely doesn’t completely make up for low grade fuel and you shouldn’t try mixing much more than they suggest. It seems to have revive the fuel pump regulator or something because it smells significantly less like fuel. I have a new pump and plugs, but it doesn’t quite seem to need them yet at 162,000

      It wont really matter until you get to around 40k miles. And even then it won't really matter unless you're not getting to operating temperature or not changing the oil at least every 5k miles. If you're doing that, then your next target will be around 100k mark.

      Look up The Motor Oil Geek on RUclips. He has a video on his daughter’s new Corolla that he did an oil change on in 100 or 500 miles (can’t remember). It’s pretty obvious that there is benefit from an early initial oil change with how much debris there is. I believe he did the 2nd oil change at 1k miles and has done a 3rd at 5k. You see the contaminants reduce greatly as expected. The people who think engines are broken in from the factory are not correct.

    Looking forward to seeing how VRP is working "Indirectly" for when it is going thru the PCV/Intake Valves. (Catch Can Oil)
    Don't have a Catch Can myself (hopefully won't need one) but there is some suggestions that VRP can benefit the PCV systems that can tend to clog by cleaning passages and keeping intake valves "cleaner".
    Currently about 700 miles into my first VRP run on my 2014 GMC Terrain AWD (2.4L Ecotec). Been addressing Fuel Dilution issues (from Short Tripping and excess Idle) and reducing my change interval to around 3000 miles/6 months (OLM 50-60%) vs 7500 miles/12 months.
    Wear Metal and Fuel Dilution is "good" at the moment. Hopefully VRP's claim on its High Anti-Wear Protection gives me a little extra safety margin...

It's currently using about a quart of Castrol 10-30W every 250 miles. I think it's got seized piston oil rings. I never see any smoke out the exhaust and no significant leaks, so I think it's getting past the seized oil rings and getting burnt in the catalytic converter. The engine has good compression, runs great and is quiet. I'll just overlook the fact the beast only gets about 9 MPG on a good day. They were never known for there economy.
