Amazing Video. I am also a person who wants advansed automations, and watching your Videos will be very helpful. Clear instructions, no BS and straight to the point. Best video of homeautomation so far.
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you are finding the videos useful. Thanks for watching!
Appreciated the information on using google minis with home assistant. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you!
Appreciate all your videos so far!
It would really help if you could post a video on how to remove the "chime" sound on Google Mini devices before the TTS takes effect. I'm aware of the cool-down period, but i"m still yet to find a guide on how to remove the annoying chime sound.
OMG I know. I've done a lot of research, and there is no way to disable or remove that noise. There seem to be various "workarounds" for it, but from my reading it appears they all break relatively quickly. Since I have a lot bigger fish to fry at the moment, investing a fair bit of time into something that's likely to break soon has been pretty low on my priority list. I still have 5 more environment sensors to add, 8 more contact sensors, 3 more water leak sensors, and a PILE of automations to write, plus solve some functional automation issues with my garage door... Then, combine that with making new videos, editing, and publishing - AND my day job (plus all the other regular life responsibilities), and the time evaporates pretty quickly. That's not even to mention that summer is nearly here, which means fishing season - and prioritization becomes the name of the game. :)
Thanks for watching!
Clear explanation. Good video. I just noticed one issue with my setup, for e.g. if i have google speaker connected via Bluetooth to my pc, then tts doesn't work first time, but works second one(need automation to be executed twice to work) . Any ideas why or how it can be solved?
Sorry, I only use these for TTS announcers, and haven't ever connected them to anything else. Sounds kind of similar to an issue I read about on the forums a while ago, but I don't think they ever found a solution.
Thank you for the kind words, and thanks for watching!
So the API integration is needed, even with the HA cloud integration (Nabu Casa) for the Google TTS?
Not sure, I don't use nabu casa
Question:
I am using SSL (Let's Encrypt) and reverse proxy, so my "external url" is SSL, but internally I have I use unsecure HTTP (The external url is accessible inside the network btw).^
Can I however use HTTP://IP in this setup? sounds like a "cleaner" way of doing it.
You should be able to, yes.
Great video. Thank you. Could you please give me some advice on how to make my google home mini accept a voice command without the "ok google" before the command?
I have already managed to set up this integration between Google Home Mini and Home Assistant, and I am now able to receive notifications on the Google Home Mini from automations created in HA.
...In addition to this integration, I've also managed to integrate with Google Assistant, where the states of a specific entity from Home Assistant, such as "on" or "off," appear in the Google Home App.
Thank you in advance.
Sorry, but as I mentioned in the video, I have the mics on my units turned off. I don't currently do anything with voice control at all. If I do, though, I'll be sure to make a video about it.
Thanks for watching!
@@fasthowto excuse me for my lost of attention. Thank you! (I'm Brazilian, and begining to listen videos in English, because that my foult).
@@daviddavidorganico no problem, thank you for watching!
Hi, when i follow your guide, the Nest is not automatically recognised. I am using the container version of homeassistant. When I search for google nest, it shows me the cloud solution with a lot of steps using google console etc. What am I missing? Thanks for your response
These should be automatically recognized as Google Cast devices, and be listed under the Google Cast integration. If they don't show up automatically, make sure they are on the same network. If they are on a different network, or if you have mDNS disabled via policy in your switch, you can always manually enter the IP address of the device in the integration and Home Assistant should add it.
Thanks for watching!
1:08 eh friend did you notice huge different by upgrading from rasp pi to intel nuc? since i didnt try rasp pi, but jump in straight with intel nuc for home asistant os.
I did, yes. Things are much faster with the NUC than the old pi.
@@fasthowto ahh thank you so much, just figure out everything, thanks to intel tuts as well was easy to follow, yeah i choose straight to intel nuc because the price was not that different than rasp pi, ohh so intel nuc are way faster, i though the home asistant are just light program so rasp pi could handle easily, so happy choosin' straight to intel nuc.
