Home Assistant people do watch your videos 🙂 The VPE can do timers and smart home control offline, but only with decent hardware to do local voice processing. We'll get better with time, and we'll take the crown someday 😎
Love seeing that you got some recognition and received one early to review! Ordered one myself, mainly to support Nabu Casa cause I already have a couple Onju Voice Google Nest Minis. HA Assist definitely isn't quite ready to overthrow Google or Alexa, but Im excited to see where it'll be in a year or two.
It's hard to beat Google as a consumer device. My wife, who is NOT technical, is in the habit of asking Google to a myriad of things throughout the day. HA is powerful, but Google assistant is more approachable for everyday users. Great video.
Hey, very good comparison you did there and I am in the same boat as you are. I dabled a bit with the HA Assis functionality and was able to connect it with Siri at one point (is broken since). But Overall Iam using either Alexa or Siri for my voice commands while HA is my underlying Platform exposing and controlling everything. Recently I am having a ton of problems with Alexa understanding or even hearing me and I think I will switch most of my Alexa devices for HomePod Minis.

Quick tip: When a timer or alarm goes off with Google Home, you can just say "stop". No need to say "Hey Google" again.

Bro props for owning the L. That one hurt me when i tried out an ESP32 S3 Box, but i wasn't so bold to even invite my fam to try it (yet)

To be fair, there's a reason why they're calling this "Preview Edition" for now.
Let's not make excuses for HA's shortcomings.
