Strangely enough, years ago I had a friend I worked with who's son away in college had killed himself. He gave me his laptop to go through and tell him what I found. Was a sad state of affairs.
My favorite mystery in a horror game is never knowing what caused the zombie virus in the first place . The Walking Dead game did that for me in part of the unknown horrors the protagonist must face through survival.
It's tough question,so my answers will be all over the place. Bioshock got me immediately interested in game, mystery around the place and character. In Bloodborne and Dark Souls I wanted to know more about place and mystery of world, then Until Dawn at first got me intrigue who doing that stuff,as well in Deadly Premonition who is the killer.
This looks interesting. I also love digging into stuff like this so I'll give it a peep. QOTD, video game with a mystery style story is easily Snatcher. Video game mystery, the pendant in the first Dark Souls that the developer only recently admitted he was pulling everyones chain about.
How fitting that SegaCDUniverse would love an FMV game. :) I still have a bunch of Sega CD games around on both CD-R and a few originals. Unfortunately, I don't have a Sega CD any more. Even the bad FMV games on Sega CD were typically B-movie / cheesy bad.. too bad barely any of them have been remastered and updated for a new platform like Steam.
Do you own a computer with a DVD drive? You should be able to emulate the Sega CD games you own/copied fairly easily with one of the various programs. That's how I replay a lot of my old Sega CD games, as well as all of the original PlayStation games I own/copied a quarter century ago.
Well, since Gamer Girl seems to either be canceled or delayed due to the controversy, bloody hell, maybe I could give this one a check out. Who knows, may like it. As for the question, I know you were not a fan, but I kinda liked Dark Nights with Poe and Munro, so think I'll give that as my answer.

... It is not exactly a mystery; but, when I figured out my commander Big Boss in the original metal gear was the main baddie, I freaked ...
Never trust a guy named Naked Snake!

Only last week i finished Erica on Ps4. If you like FMV games with a gothic slant give this a go. Recommended.
