Besides saying that I think these vids are cool, what I can say from experience is that Toejam and Earl is best when played with a friend. At least for both Genesis/MD games.
What's going on at Nintendo you asked? Simple: The Donkey Kong Land trilogy is a promotion for the debut of the park attraction in Japan. The one-at-a-time release mimics the release of the Country trilogy on SNES Online, only faster. There is a 65% chance that Donkey Kong Land 3 will release on Thanksgiving. The Genesis update was probably scheduled in advance by SEGA without knowledge of the Donkey Kong promotion, hence the overlap. I don't know why SEGA Genesis went on a 17-month hiatus, but I suspect there was a deal that needed to be renewed. Also, SEGA Genesis Online is the first system to switch to the new server system.
What's up with Nintendo? They're trying to troll you. You, specifically. Just wait until they do a massive drop on December 23rd to ruin your Christmas.
I have been telling people that they are going to reveal the "Switch 2" (Super Nintendo Switch) on Dec 26 just so they won't miss any Switch sales before Christmas.
There used to be so many gaming magazines. One of the magazines in the Vectorman reviews has Street Fighter Alpha for the PlayStation on the cover. Genesis vs PS1 isn't even fair. You have to admire the Genesis for not going out without a fight.
One of the nice things about the Genesis episodes is that I always have more than enough magazines to choose from. There were just so many Sega-themed magazines in the UK at the time, all with super generic names -- Sega Magazine, Sega Pro, Sega Power, Sega Force, S: The Sega Magazine and like fifty more just like that.
Vectorman deserves to have a comeback, pure & simple. I have way too much fixation with the main character in almost every aspect. I really like his overall look.😃👍🔥❤️
I can't help but find it suspicious that a week or two before the Genesis collection will get delisted, they release more Genesis games from thst collection.
MERCS wasn't included in SEGA Genesis Classics. All three however, were on Wii Virtual Console. Though this update will calm people down concerning the delisting on Nintendo Switch, it does nothing for those on PlayStation and Xbox. However, it's reasonable to assume that a replacement collection is in the works which may also include games from other SEGA systems. Either that or M2 is porting SEGA Genesis Online to said rival systems.
@N-MCMXCIX I forgot it wasn't, but then it has what 50 games do. I can't remember them all. Personally, I don't think Sega and Nintendo are doing anything malicious or underhanded. Personally, what I hope is that Sega has a big collection that spans multiple generations like that atari one that's out.
@@UndeadEggmiester First of all: I looked at a couple of lists before writing the comment, so if it's a test of memory, I cheated. And second: Though I can't truly say how Nintendo fits into SEGA's plans, I can say that a whole bunch of PC and Xbox ports of Saturn and Dreamcast games are also being delisted, games that PlayStation and Switch don't appear to have. Emulation has come a long way since those old ports were done, and people have been demanding for Saturn and Dreamcast games to return, so therefore a more expansive collection that presents everything with greater accuracy could be in the works. Though I should mention that the Arcade Archives release of Cotton unveiled earlier today is a game that ran on SEGA arcade hardware, meaning a partnership between SEGA and Hamster could be in the works as well, though M2 is usually in charge of SEGA's emulation.
With how many videos they're helping you make, I can only conclude you work at Nintendo. If so, tell them to release Conker already. On topic - Everyone should play Panic on Funkotron
What's going on over at Nintendo? At least as far as Genesis, I think it's licensing. When it comes to GameBoy, I think it's more some kind of conditioning technique.
i also think its because sega is a different company more loopholes to go through. i think the gameboy stuff they seem to want to release their own stuff in conjunction with various game anniversaries.
What did they say? Console Wars! Fight! Fight! Fight! Developers in the 1990's really had both talent and grit beyond anything we see today (minus the indy guys they are still doing it). They built games to run on hardware configurations that were so different the consoles may as well have come from the planet Mars. Yet, they always pulled it off, giving us gamers incredible experiences. They built games for the sheer thrill of it and always packed as much content as they could for us. Here is what developers say today- Blaaaaahhhhh....let's ship it broken and fix it next year. What?! We have to make a game for both the Series X and PS5 with a team of 1,000 people?! That's just crazy talk. Both consoles are so different one is slightly more powerful than the other! Say, what about making a game as a service filled with DLC and endless updates? Profits! It's time to fill it with a bunch of garbage nobody wants because they owe us everything. -Modern Game Developers.
Well, out of these, I played the ToeJam and Earl, but not familiar with the other 2. However, looks like I've got all 3 in my ROMs folder, including Vectorman 2. Yeah, probably for Thanksgiving, Nintendo will drop Donkey Kong Country 3 and Vectorman 2. 😉😂🤣 But I'll go a bit more serious for the question, which I think they're trying to get as much out of the way, make the Switch feel not so abandoned as they start to turn focus on the Switch 2 I've been hearing about. That's my thoughts anyways on that.
Can't believe somebody didn't get the funk of Toejam & Earl and actually suggested metal would have been better. Massive cringe. I am a metalhead myself, and respect the genre enough not to want it dumbed down into a 16 bit parody of itself. Funk works so much better with the sound font, and gives the game a really timeless personality. Metal may be my first love, but I also have love for funk!
So three new genesis game drops a week before a bunch of their classic games are delisted digitally with the genesis classic collection. Weird play there. This is a very solid drop of games and cool there were a lot of reviews available. QOTD, Maybe Nintendo is trying to get it out there before the delisting next week? Or japan doesn't care about thanksgiving, it hasn't caught on over there like halloween and Christmas.
My only explanation is someone at Nintendo discovered your channel and decided "No, I don't think he should sleep"
First thing I thought of when I saw this announcement was how happy you'd be the lengthy absence had finally ended!
While I'm definitely happy that the 519 day drought is over, I'm more than a little annoyed by the timing. Not cool, Nintendo.
@@DefunctGames SEGA are in charge of these ports. It's technically on them.

Been a busy two weeks for NSO Review Crew.
I enjoy Vectorman, and it will be interesting to try out the other 2 games coming to Genesis Online. 😄👍🏻
0:11 THANKS FOR MAKING A JOKE ABOUT THE GENESIS BEING FOUND! 🙂
Mercs would just be so much better if there was a way to strafe 😢 It doesn’t make it unplayable, but it does make it something I don’t want to play.

got so good a mercs on genesis as a kid i could beat in like 15 minutes without losing a life, loved it back then along with the other two.
I got that way with Strider on the Genesis. I played that game so much that I could beat it in 20 minutes. Such good memories.
The Panic on Funkotron commercial isn't nearly as good as the original game's ad. To this day, I occasionally remember and start singing it.

All these Nintendo Switch Online Review Crew episodes are taking me away from my real video game industry job.
@@DefunctGames So you're admitting this is why the Switch 2 is taking so long to come out 🤯
Watch Nintendo pull malicious compliance on your comment and put out Conker's Pocket Tales for the GBC as their next drop.
