I can imagine this thing will be incredible for things like teachers doing virtual lessons or lawyers presenting stuff to their clients over zoom. Like in these situations even the best looking webcam they have to mess with to get it to show what they want, with this you barely have to think "are they seeing this" because you throw up a hand symbol and it just works.
The white board tracking is kinda interesting, but the peace sign and slow transition sorta ruins it(speaking as someone who taught online and in person college classes) .... BUT if the control software allows triggers from outside apps or global programmable hot keys, I could see a slightly off screen stream deck just toggling between 2 or 3 saved positions, or even a remote clicker being used

Eeeeh.. that really depends. For most streamers, this is too costly and they dont need all that functionality. I would imagine most willing to spend that much, will start looking at DSLR's instead.
@@lyianx What are you talking about? around 300 dollars for this is way cheaper and more convenient than a DSLR + dedicated capture card input + mounting solution which wouldn't even have the tracking feature + built in desk view
This is oddly the most excited I've gotten with a video in a while. Most are for enjoyment and laughter, But this is more for enjoyment and curiosity for me.
Even though this is sponsored, it’s hands down the best webcam image I have seen by a big margin. Crazy good! It may be pricy but if you need it a lot, damn it’s good
From all the webcams ya'll ever looked at, at LMG, this seems to be by far the best one. The picture quality is amazing for a webcam. All the features are good and not useless things you'll never use. The price is fair considering the amazing autofocus, picture quality and great feature set. Wish it had Linux support on the software side. How are settings like focus saved? If they would be saved on device and not on the host machine that would be super neat then you could still reasonably use the webcam on linux or move between pcs easily.
Insanely high price for what is likely just a smartphone camera module (often in the sub $20 range as seen on iPhone teardown), and mounted to a cheap gimbal. From the quality compared to other webcams they tested under ideal lighting, it really does look the best, basically as if you used the rear camera on a smartphone to stream. If it were $150, it would be the gold standard in modern webcams.
Impressive webcam !I was shocked at how smooth the tracking was, some other webcams have very discordant tracking. Aicoco is one of the few webcams with wonderful AI tracking
I'm commenting because I like your excitement, style, review, and I'd like you to get more exposure. Thanks for the awesome first impression of the Insta360 Link.
2:51 You dont know how happy i am that they used inches for tube sized sensors, and mm for film size, because it would have been near impossible to try to figure out the sensor size if they both used inches, or both used mm
I found out the q8 has been succeeded by the q8n 4k. Now Zoom is finally up to snuff with video quality. I already got my hands on it. The SSH-6 boom mike can also be a helpful extension if I need to buy it. Best of all, it can be used as a webcam.
Agree, I would not trust that privacy mode personally anyway, because software takeover would still be potential danger, I would probably install hardware switch dongle in USB slot it is connected at, to completely disconnect it when not in use.
Smart tracking, gesture recognition, deskview, whiteboard mode all included, it's perfect for streamers! This year, apart from link, I also saw another brand, aicoco, release a smart camera with similar features, both of which look great!
This is the only webcam I would ever have and not use it just for a webcam, but I could see myself filming small projects with a gimbal little robot like that.
Sony/Canon/Panasonic/Black magic need to all get into the webcam market. Idk why it's so hard for computer hardware developers to make a decent laptop webcam.
The gestures are an interesting concept but I think personally I’d prefer to have a little button that I can hold in my hand/put on my desk to switch between modes. The whiteboard mode especially would be useful for that. You could have say one press for toggling between tracking and static. Two presses to switch between presets and if it detects a whiteboard then the two presses would toggle between your previous view and the whiteboard view. Great camera though, I only use a webcam for meetings but I still want it :P
Man, I would love for this to have more options of command configurations, like voice commands, or integrate with a bluetooth controller/streamer deck, heck, they could even send you a controller with a bunch of configurable commands. That would be way better than having to stand with a strange hand sing while people are watching you hahaha
that tracking is really good and the mic isnt that bad either. I could definitelly see a content creator only needing it to vlog or something on the go. that being said I have not done that much research on the matter but I assume that for a stationary setup just buying a cheapo camera to use as a webcam will be the better option for most streamers
The image is outstanding for a camera that size with all that tech onboard and the mic quality, to my ears, was better than the professional mics they were using at the shoot! Very very impressive.
For a PTZ webcam, the feature set and quality on here is actually quite acceptable in my mind for the price. If I was a teacher or instructor giving a lesson, or even a presenter calling in for a video conference, I would buy this in a heartbeat and use it for a bit and see what the limits are in the sharpness with zooming, how far it can pan and tilt, etc... But from what I see here, I am impressed. Hopefully this is a shift in the webcam market that will influence Logitech and others.
I was honestly expecting this to be 50-100% higher price than it was listed at, considering the versatility. It's low enough (yes, it's still expensive) that I could see saving up strickly to run TTRPGs for my friends. When I've spent twice this on game books, the cost suddenly doesn't seem absurd. Niche use scenario, but not as niche as it would have been pre-pandemic.
Holy fucking shit, this is THE webcam out there right now. Everything is intuitive and the functions actually works smoothly instead of being gimmicks, not to mention the image quality. This would've exploded during the pandemic. Dave2D dropped the ball for his overview of this product. Thank you ShortCircuit.
This looks really cool to use, i think the only thing that could be improved is the way it transitions between positions, like when testing between two preset positions it moves way too fast, and even with the whiteboard test it moves in such a fast and blurry way that it might be disorienting or bothersome to watch, so maybe a control on how it transitions would be nice, like instead of INSTANT change, it'll slowly move the camera and zoom in/out at a reasonable pace
Though pointing straight down gives it a perfect shot of your keyboard… all those crumbs and spills on full display for the boss too wonder why he even bought you a new PC lol
For someone just getting started the built in mic would help with the cost. For someone shooting on their own that needs to move around a bit this would also be a good solution.
Doesn't look like it has Windows Hello.... That being said, I've gotten used to using a Kingston Verimark USB Fingerprint scanner, which works much faster than Windows Hello so I wouldn't feel like I miss it all that much.
Probably the best webcam for image quality I have ever seen!
Not to mention the dual mics. The sound was really good!
I literally said "Damn!" out loud when I saw it haha
I agree! that's not saying much tho lol. webcam quality in general is such trash.
This is the first webcam I've ever seen that doesn't look horrendously overpriced. The microphone is surprisingly good too.

The killer feature for me is the whiteboard mode. That's a lifesaver for online tutoring.
That is a CRACKING webcam! Pricey... but considering the use cases for it, it outshines a lot of basic streaming cameras!
Eeeeh.. that really depends.
@@peterlancton4482 yup, way more practical unless you need vastly superior image quality
First webcam that has impressed me... it's about damn time they got good!
👆👆I have something for you
This is oddly the most excited I've gotten with a video in a while. Most are for enjoyment and laughter, But this is more for enjoyment and curiosity for me.
That webcam footage looks gorgeous. Easily a decade ahead of all the laptop webcams you guys have reviewed.
This is the best webcam I've seen just for the gimble and all the features and quality of life it adds
Debt, Consumerism, & Materialism would make for a great villain trio.
Even though this is sponsored, it’s hands down the best webcam image I have seen by a big margin. Crazy good! It may be pricy but if you need it a lot, damn it’s good
Webcam models will be thrilled 😀
From all the webcams ya'll ever looked at, at LMG, this seems to be by far the best one. The picture quality is amazing for a webcam. All the features are good and not useless things you'll never use.
The price is fair considering the amazing autofocus, picture quality and great feature set.
Wish it had Linux support on the software side. How are settings like focus saved? If they would be saved on device and not on the host machine that would be super neat then you could still reasonably use the webcam on linux or move between pcs easily.
Man, I wish some of my university professors had this during lockdown, both for the video and mic quality.
Best of all, it can be used as a webcam.
best video and audio quality from a webcam IMO
Brandon is rapidly rising the charts making great content for LMG, even though it is in a specific niche. Kudos.
Healthy opinion. #cancerJEDI approved
I love Brandon being the host and explaining everything so clearly! Also; I want this now.
#cancerJEDI agrees
When in privacy mode the camera should turn around before facing downwards as depending on the angle it might see the keyboard.
Agree, I would not trust that privacy mode personally anyway, because software takeover would still be potential danger, I would probably install hardware switch dongle in USB slot it is connected at, to completely disconnect it when not in use.
Stumble onto your video for this awesome Insta360. Very detail video. I am sold. Thx.
Smart tracking, gesture recognition, deskview, whiteboard mode all included, it's perfect for streamers! This year, apart from link, I also saw another brand, aicoco, release a smart camera with similar features, both of which look great!
Wow! quality is super damn nice! Awesome review Brandon
@thewongjanice want to use this?
Wow quite impressed with all the features and image quality. Even the microphones sounded cristal clear
Engineering Explained would LOVE this. That Whiteboard feature is SICK!
10:46 That automatic keystone correction feature sells it!
I can see classes and therapists and streamers all over the world taking advantage of this. I want one now.
Uncle chap wants one. #kinesilogist
Woohoo! Camera stuff. Thanks, Brandon
11:00 Brandon : overhead view
Me : DANKPODS POV
This is like having a mini cameraman in your pocket , awesome!
I love how easy this is for making vertical/horizontal video... Straight into the pc👏👏👏
Every streamer about to have one of these
This is the only webcam I would ever have and not use it just for a webcam, but I could see myself filming small projects with a gimbal little robot like that.
That would be very interesting to use in an application like robotics if there is a proper API to move the gimbal around
This camera cheap for what your getting and the quality is excellent. Love the gesture controls that's super handy never seen that before.
Considering that very decent normal webcams are running about $150 right now, this thing is a freaking steal.
Great camera though, I only use a webcam for meetings but I still want it :P
webcams with remote controller are amazing
This is the best review of this product-I just learned about it today. You just earned a new subscriber. Nice job and keep up the great work!
Man, I would love for this to have more options of command configurations, like voice commands, or integrate with a bluetooth controller/streamer deck, heck, they could even send you a controller with a bunch of configurable commands. That would be way better than having to stand with a strange hand sing while people are watching you hahaha
Now this is a really good webcam with a lot of functionalities. Amazing!
that tracking is really good and the mic isnt that bad either. I could definitelly see a content creator only needing it to vlog or something on the go.
that being said I have not done that much research on the matter but I assume that for a stationary setup just buying a cheapo camera to use as a webcam will be the better option for most streamers
Next level features. Nothing else even comes close.
I'm hoping to order this tomorrow. Thanks for the video.
really cool to see features ive seen in stuff like the Logitech Meetup and the Rally being implemented in such a small camera
This webcam is a game changer especially with the gestures
Awesome webcam might have to pick it up. Should last year's.
I was genuinely shocked at how good those mics sound
This may be the best webcam ever made
This is genuinely the most impressive webcam I've ever seen
The image is outstanding for a camera that size with all that tech onboard and the mic quality, to my ears, was better than the professional mics they were using at the shoot! Very very impressive.
Security feature points straight down... to your keyboard 😂😂
Even the audio is decent. That an interesting All in One solution.
I had a serious deja vu watching this video.
That tracking is snappy!
Sending this to Adam Savage.
That is a seriously impressive camera/webcam
Holy fucking shit, this is THE webcam out there right now. Everything is intuitive and the functions actually works smoothly instead of being gimmicks, not to mention the image quality. This would've exploded during the pandemic. Dave2D dropped the ball for his overview of this product. Thank you ShortCircuit.
Truly a game changer for many smaller streamers out there.
For someone shooting on their own that needs to move around a bit this would also be a good solution.
if this has windows hello, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Doesn't look like it has Windows Hello....
That being said, I've gotten used to using a Kingston Verimark USB Fingerprint scanner, which works much faster than Windows Hello so I wouldn't feel like I miss it all that much.
