i got mine, 00’ cherokee, i bought it lifted, and with tires, i payed 3300, it’s basically rust free for a nh rig and it’s a 6 inch lift, on 35’s it’s got aftermarket head unit and speakers, i robbed the guy, got it in everett and drove it home, no issues at all
I inherited a 98 XJ Sport with 112K on the odometer that I am picking up in February. It’s not gonna be only vehicle for sure, but it’s definitely my first driver so I’m not parting with it even when I start up a little fleet of trucks haha.
@14:30 100% I was fortunate to find a 2 owner XJ up in the mountains for $3500 about 7 years ago. Even then everyone said I paid too much for it, but it was a manual with 150k miles and ZERO rust with a mint interior. It's got 235k on it today and still has almost zero rust except a few spots where paint has cracked, but it's still minimal and more like a patina surface rust. I plan to keep this thing running until my kid is old enough to enjoy it responsibly. People want to call these Jeep "shitboxes" but they're only shit boxes if you let them get that way and I have no problems with that. The more XJs these people let rot to the ground the more valuable our nice XJs become.
Just bought my second XJ. It’s a white, completely stock 2000 XJ Sport with 56k original miles. It’s been a garaged, Arizona car it’s whole life. The paint is fantastic and interior is like new. I paid $11,500 for it. I only have a 6 mile round trip commute to and from work and it will be garaged next to my project euro spec 928. It will be babied
Got a beach xj for 1500. Old motor seized up at 200k miles but now its got a new motor (30k miles), new transmission, new floors, new brake system entirely, new wiring, new wheels, tires, suspension, and its got unibody reinforcement. Got some por15 gotta put that on now. Holy shit i cant wait to drive it
my gas meter runs out super fast from full to half full. the previous owner says it slows down once it hits the middle mark. is this common with the 1998 xj?
Such beauties. I got a 99 last year, there is a short circuit around the OBD port, I have to push the wires inside... the error that it produces is that the SKIM module stops reading the key, so the engine tuirns and then stalls again. Would anyone recommend bypassing the SKIM? I'd rather have it working so it is more unstealable but I don;t want to the the XJ for a spin and get stranded.
@@stevennewellproductions did you get it to go away, I have that same sound but can't figure out if it the water pump or power steering pump. I have changed both before I got the sound.
@@drewjones3601 I had very similar problems with my '96 jeep cheroke country with a decent interior and no rust except for a few surface spots. I got quite a good deal on it about a year ago, but when I got one thing fixed another thing started leaking. I got my power stearing and water pump replaced and still got a squeaky belt. It ended up being a bent belt tensioner bracket and the belt tensioner bearing wasn't 100% smooth, even after ordering a bunch of aftermarket ones. Then I eventually had to replace my fan shroud because the fan would scrape against it.
I have a 2000 Jeep XJ with a 4.5” lift. Running 32s. Your definitely right. The Cherokee is the best jeep jeep made. Did you put in the slip yoke eliminator in yourself? Are you from Massachusetts?

Nice score!

No way that’s overpriced hahaha, over her in New Zealand I’ve seen a few stock ones in alright condition going for like 15-20k
XJ is as good as it gets. Great stuff man.
I saw your post on facebook the other day and now can’t stop bingeing your videos
Thank you 🙏
Looks great man!
Maybe you know backspace of these rims??
What fender add on are those?

Just did something similar. When it's all done, it's so worth it.
Your estimate is very accurate. I bought my XJ with a 5 inch lift on 31s for 6K.
I LOVE XJ s. I got 2!
Nice video
Thanks
I got lucky & had a friend give me his old 01 xj 4.0. Currently in project mode.

It was custom made, but I lost it on the freeway a couple months ago

Verry nice sir
Zj limited is the best jeep ever made way more comfortable plus sun roof & head rest for back seats
Do you know what the squeaking in the first start up of the video was from?
Yeah that would be my fan belt. Or pulley

I actually brought it to endangered species Jeep in Holyoke Ma for the slip yoke and driveshaft
Had an 01 with like 70k miles on it, stupidly sold it
Gawd damn how miles that thing got
340k
@@stevennewellproductions original motor ?
“XJ is the best Jeep ever made” continues to talk the whole time and not explain that statement at all lol unreal..
The hood looks awesome, gave me an idea.
