  • "Antony's speech" in Shakespeare's play,Julius Caesar,is a well-known monologue.Mark Antony is given the opportunity by Brutus and the other conspirators to give a funeral speech for Caesar with the condition that he doesn't accuse them of Caesar's death.Initially,Antony starts by defending Brutus and the assassins, saying that he has come to bury Caesar and not to praise him.However, through the use of persuasive language and genuine reminders, Antony eventually portrays Caesar in a highly positive manner, which angers the crowd towards the conspirators.

    Very nice. You did a phenomenal job, truly you made me feel as though you were Antony when you spoke the line “He was my friend, faithful and just to me.” Your eye contact with the audience throughout couldn’t have been better. It caused me to doubt whether Brutus was honorable at all. But I will add one tiny word of caution. Antony’s spirit may have felt like screaming at the crowd, but if he screamed too much they would not have listened to him. They would have felt as though they were being attacked verbally in the same manner that Caesar was attacked physically. Antony persuaded the crowd to turn on Brutus because they were persuaded by his logic and they came to sympathize with Antony in his grief. But overall, excellent work. I’m sorry I said anything critical of it, you really did a marvelous job. I’m just expressing my opinion, which may be completely wrong. I am no public speaker, I have no qualifications. I just enjoy seeing the talent in others, so vividly evident in your case.

    ANTONY
    Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
    I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
    The evil that men do lives after them;
    The good is oft interred with their bones;
    So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus
    Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
    If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
    And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it.
    Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest--
    For Brutus is an honourable man;
    So are they all, all honourable men--
    Come I to speak in Caesar's funeral.
    He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
    But Brutus says he was ambitious;
    And Brutus is an honourable man.
    He hath brought many captives home to Rome
    Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
    Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
    When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
    Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
    Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
    And Brutus is an honourable man.
    You all did see that on the Lupercal
    I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
    Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
    Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
    And, sure, he is an honourable man.
    I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke,
    But here I am to speak what I do know.
    You all did love him once, not without cause:
    What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?
    O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
    And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
    My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar,
    And I must pause til it come back to me.

    Amazing tone and fluency, added with spectacular expressions. You really did an awesome job recreating the never-to-be-forgotten speech. Although, there’s one thing I’d like to say, and believe me, I’m not devaluing your work. But the thing is, This was a spectacle of a monologue, but Antony’s speech was means as a mob mentality spinner. It was more of oration rather than monologue. It was interactive, very convincing, and it was a speech that was to be given to a live audience to spin their minds and bring them out of Brutus’s influence. Converting that kind of an interactive speech to a monologue and delivering it is a good job, but not a great idea. Somewhere it doesn’t fit well. All that being said, you did a wonderful job!

    Feels like a perfect ‘party political statement’ video. The delivery of each ‘honourable man’ is great ,you can feel Antony’s sarcasm.

    At the end I wept with your character. Thank you from my heart, woman. So often, we have to confront men who are prejudiced against what they feel that I will say. Especially in a professional setting! I'm recommending your performance of this speech to women who are finding their voice and must, despite all odds, speak persuasively of what they _do_ know. (thanks for your accent on DO.)

      It's not a poem. It's a speech given by Mark Anthony. It is called speech of innuendo. When Ceaser is murdered by the senators Mark Anthony wants to speak on his funeral. Brutus and the senators allow him to address the citizens on one condition. Mark Anthony wasn't allowed to speak ill of the senators. Thus he gave a speech where he motivated the Romans to start a mutiny without speaking ill of the senators. This speech is one of the masterpieces of Shakespeare and in general a gem of English literature because of the Shakespeare's wit.
