Manual Transmission Swapping and Upgrading a Genesis Coupe

- I finally broke the Genesis! Today we do a complete transmission swap while upgrading it with MT-85 Transmission Fluid, Torque Solutions Shifter Bushings, and a Megan Racing Transmission Mount. Can we accomplish it all in my crap garage and will it make an improvement? Stay tuned.

Can you put this on an automatic trans 2015 genesis coupe 3.8
are you using a manual wiring harness or the auto one?
My 13 transmission had 3rd gear lockout, got another 13 transmission with 5k miles. Was fine for like a week or so and the 4th locks me out under load now😕 gotta get 14+ trans now😩
Damn! Have you tried any of the trans mounts/engine leash to see if that helped?
@@ShutUpAndDriveIt I did, I have the engine leash, trans mount and even tried both amsoil transmission fluid and MT-85. It only locks me out if I shift over 5500 rpm tho, anything lower than that it goes in smooth😂🤦♂️
dod you change your drive shaft too? can you tell me what all i need so 8 can swap mine from auto to manual
Since this one was already manual I just kept all of the other existing stuff in there,
same exact thing that happened to me, every gear blew up except 5th #warrantied though
damn for real? I hadn't been able to find anyone that it happened to. Did they say what the issue was or what caused it?
@@ShutUpAndDriveIt nope hyundai never let me know just swapped it out with a new one and sent me on my way lol
@@OreoYifu I'll be curious to crack open my busted transmission and see what actually broke. It happened out of nowhere just cruising lightly in 6th on the highway then POP no more gears except 5th. Had to drive like 1.5 hours home with just 5th gear lmao.
Does the 2016 tranny bolt into a 2016 especially. I’ve heard that the block is the same so bell housing should fit?

To my knowledge, the transmission should be swappable across any year Genesis Coupe with the same motor.

I've heard the 2014 manual trans are far better than the bk1 trans, is it possible to use that on my 2010?
Yep the 2014+ got the carbon coated syncros and are supposed to be a bit of an upgrade. I've seen people on the forums do BK2 swaps into the BK1 but unfortunately I don't know a ton of details on the swap.

@@ShutUpAndDriveIt sorry for asking again 5 months later but I finally got a 2014 manual trans but I was wondering do reverse lights still work without buying a manual harness? I've read that some cars need the manual harness with it or they won't work Mines an automatic currently lol
@@Jacob-rt6on do you have a bk1 3.8 and did you upgrade to the bk2? if so did you say the 2014 bk2 transmissions are the best and if so what particular year
@@seanmontford6327 bk1 2.0t, and yeah I Upgraded to bk2, for the 3.8s I'd say 2014-2016 are all the same build but they don't make 2.0t 2015 and up so that's the newest one I can get

I've just replaced the transmission mount to Megan Racing, kinda hoping to get rid of that side to side slop of the drivetrain. Gears shift much smoother now, but I can still feel that frickin drivetrain moves (especially when pressing the clutch on a reverse or low gears). Mechanic that I spoke to suggested a complete transmission regeneration as it's probably caused by worn out output flange :| Any thoughts before I dump $1.5k on a repair?
How old is the car? Did you do any of the shifter bushings? Or have you inspected motor mounts/diff bushings yet?
@@ShutUpAndDriveIt It's 2013, 32k miles. No I didn't do any bushings. The only thing I've done to the car is I changed the diff to a 2016 (from auto transmission) 2 years ago, but the problem had always been present. I live in Poland and I have limited access to parts (OEM parts are crazy expensive). I waited 6 weeks for the Megan Racing mount :(
was it auto or was it manual
This one was already manual, was just swapping out the old and busted transmission.
