    How to Start Drawing with Alcohol Markers
    These markers are very unique and work in a particular way, so it can take a few tries to get used to. In general, they're great for blending and work well on slightly glossy paper that doesn't absorb the ink too quickly. If you're just starting your collection, you can find sets of 60 and 120 that have a wide variety of colors and shades that will pique your imagination. You'll find yourself spending hours creating stunning gradients and incredible color combinations. These markers are fantastic for bold artwork but can also be used to create soft artwork that looks like it has an ethereal glow. Try out different color combinations and swatch your colors, so you have a good idea of what you're working with before applying them to your finished masterpiece.

    Interesting......I loved the actual technique of blending the colors for the skin tones. I didn't particularly appreciate the descriptions as they were a little - coarse. Black people (not just African Americans) come in every single skin tone there is from Native red to European white to Asian Yellow to Indian Brown to African black and everything in between. I found it interesting that the artist strayed very little from the same TONE of skin color which such a rich palette to choose from. All the ladies were, in fact, around the same color - all were "light" skinned. In the future, it might be more helpful to show how to color brown, dark brown, and black skin tones. This was still an excellent tutorial, though, just in terms of showing how to contour, blend, and shade skin.

      @@arteza No problem. I'd love to see the artist start skin tone at around A611, A625, and A627 as the base color. I'm new to alcohol markers and I do watch these videos to learn what/how to do something. I also am dark-skinned and don't find many helpful tutorials on coloring, shading, blending really dark brown to blue black or even purple black skin tones. SIgh.

    • @Cherrioke
      @Cherrioke 3 года назад +3

      @@arteza I agree with this comment about the descriptions of African Americans. It was abrasive. And you compared the skin tones to “coffee” and “espresso”, and even said to use a “flesh” colored marker for highlights- every skin tone is a flesh color.
      Your response to this person’s comment is generic and looks like a bit of a dismissal. It’s unfortunate how things like this can be so alienating and offensive to artists of color. You need to do better.

However, my criticism is that putting another small video as an ad over the drawing footage is a bit distracting and makes it hard to follow the tutorial. I still love your tutorials tho

    Yeah, you can just use color theory terminology to decribe skintones rather than race ideology as most of the race based info you stated are arbitrary at best false at worse.
    Most African Americans are dark skinned as in the shadow spectrum of light and dark so if you are drawing a dominant standard that character should have been darker.
    Also not all Europeans are fair skinned with oval head shapes. My family is from Spain we all have differing head shapes and range from light to mid tone skin hues.
    Features will vary among all humans no matter the region they exist in so there is no grand standard that can encompass continents to make the generalizarion that all people born in that contient will look as you depict.
    Be more objective please and less political in your langauge.
