I've changed my mind, I now think it's a female. She came back today, July 18, two days after I shot this video. I tried to pay closer attention this time. Her head is narrower than that of a male, which is typically rounder, the ears are large and she has a tapered muzzle, more so than a male. As usual, grain of salt, &c.
Lovely coat on the bear and nicely done with discouraging the bear from coming closer or up on the porch wouldn't want a male bear getting overly confident. Simone and her cubs is one thing but an unknown bear is a totally different thing.
Boy, you weren't kidding, he has the glossiest coat I've ever seen! Such a beautiful, healthy bear. And your property is so lush and gorgeous! I need to move to an area that actually rains : I
Always remember, it is their environment. It is us, the human, that has encroached on their habitats. Patrick does an amazing job in his interactions with these majestic animals. 🐻❤️
Hello Sir, What a beautiful young bear . I didn't see any real aggressiveness like other viewers, just a young bear trying to be " a brave big bear" , basically like any kid would do once alone . Enjoyed the video very much, thank you so much for sharing it with us Sir , have a beautiful Sunday .
Hi Patrick! I just found you yesterday and it's so lovely to find another kindred bear spirit!! I live in the mountains of NE Pennsylvania and have many bears visiting me too. I have a young male (whom I call Little Dude) who visits every day and comes up on my deck to scavenge whatever bird seed is left. Then he will just lay in my yard like a dog. He's a very sweet guy and I talk to him too!! You will laugh at this -- when I blow the air horn to get them to leave, Little Dude thinks it's his dinner bell and comes closer!
Oh, this one will be back Patrick, looks like it wants to win your trust and front porch visits, but you did warn it , "don't let Simone catch you here", seems the bear grapevine holds you in high regard, thank you for sharing, enjoy your Sunday, bear hugs from Orange County, CA 🐻❤️❤️
Wasn't she taking a nap in the beginning of this clip?? Beautiful. The yearlings are always looking for food when the Mama bears make them go off in their own. There was a bear where I live that wiped out the neighbors bird feeders 2 nights in a row. Pushed the metal rod down like it was a toilet paper roll. They can remember sources of food for years and in ranges of many miles.
Yes, I agree with one of the other commenters. I feel this was a cub who visited you in the past with its mom. After family breakup, this bear remembers you, your kindness and the food. That’s why he/she is so .persistent. This is the right time of year for breakup, while mom is, again, in heat, yearlings are out on their own, afraid, hungry and defensive.
Yep, bears have to be well behaved and become well known to Patrick before they are allowed on the porch. Your camera work is fine and much appreciated.
So sweet and timid. She is clearly intent to make friends with you. Perhaps she is one the six or so cubs who used to visit you last year. Bears do have phenomenal memories and know exactly whom they can trust who they should avoid.
Bear#1 " Hey, there's this guy over there and he's not like other hairless creatures. He let's you have some bird food! My kids love it!" Bear#2 " Sweet!! I'm gonna check it out!!
What a beautiful shiny coat. Feisty for sure! Made me a little nervous for you a couple times. This young bear doesn't seem as mannerly as sweet Simone. Hope he stays in your neck of the woods where it's safe, but also off your porch!
What is it about your porch that even unknown bears want to climb the steps to have a look, Patrick? It looked so happy to be relaxing in the bushes. And in the sun that's the shiniest coat on any of your bears yet!! That must be some healthy bear. You're not so happy with this one, however, can you say why? (laughing at your words though .. 'to your right' .... the other right. so many lolz
That's actually what I was wondering. Patrick, word has it you've known Simone for while. Is that the major difference with this bear & Simone's clan? As a viewer of only a couple months, prior to today one would believe you're comfortable with "bears," rather than a particular bear family. Do share.
What a big beautiful bear, oh and the sound of the birds there this morning, such a peaceful place. I guess you got another one that wants to make a friendship with you, as he seems to be asking may I come up?? Just be very careful. He is so shiny and healthy looking and also seems respectful. Thanks Patrick for another great video
I love your birds you have in abundance I hear crows Cardinals Chickadee Theyre cutting down all the trees in my island They just destroyed a 500 yr old live oak To build on a slim cut in half tiny lot
I happened to come across your channel in the Utube, and I like to watch your channel so much. So I will ask St Martin De Porres to bless all the wild bears and other animals in your place. God bless to you.
I just found your channel, Patrick. YThe first thing I noticed is that you're a good videographer with nice steady shots. I am fascinated with your instinctive way of communicating with the bears and with how you set firm boundaries with them. Then I started paying closer attention to your commentary. You made me laugh out loud on this one! "Your other right!" LOL! 🤣 Thank you for giving us all some great entertainment and learning experiences.
We have alot of bears here and you can see these bears have an abundance of food and water.. Here they are pretty chill around humans but way more interested in getting into houses and dumpsters looking for food. They know how to open car doors, dumpster latches(even bear proof). I'm not sure they have actually designed a latch a bear can't figure out.
It's so much more fascinating to watch bears in this setting rather than to see them in a zoo. You really get to see their personalities over time. Thank you for sharing this with us! 🤎
I lived not far from here outside of Brevard. One year I had a single bear that would seemingly be around more frequently than I was comfortable with. He stood on his back legs one evening as sun was setting and pressed its nose against my screen door. Can’t repeat what I said, but it ran off and that was last time it saw it.
Good afternoon Patrick love the video he is a little feisty his coat is beautiful it just shines you are right simone would not be happy you have a great week please stay safe watch out for this bear take care
This bear says, hey, Simone called a meeting, told us all this is the safe house! N theres some good grub..but to watch out for this furry, hissy thing that hangs on the porch, the human calls it Biggie! Human tells me theres berries to the right, i think to myself, i just know i have 4 paws, never was told what right is...this place seems safe! Gotta get to know that human better, he seems really cool! Simone says hes very kind to her n the cubbies! I guess i better be beary good when i go there! Thanks for sharing the new guy, Patrick! Really get to see the different characteristics of him compared to Simone! Do you put any special goodies out for the bears? Or just put the bird seed for the birds? Thanks for sharing your videos with us...I love your channel...❤🐻❤🐻❤🐻❤🐻
Based on its behaviour at 5:15 I think you're wise to keep it off the porch. A beautiful animal, but not your pal, yet. Thanks for the Sunday morning video.
Totally agree, he’s got an attitude, like “hey, you talkin to me, porch man?” He’s not respecting Patrick. Bear should say, “Are you talking to me, Mr. Porchman?”
@5:58 QUESTION: I have always wondered if you are within your home when filming, or actually out on the front porch/deck with no barrier between you and the Cubbies??? I love how you corrected him, with a loud noise, to let him know he was not allowed up on the porch, at least when you are present 💖🐻💖🐻💖

Same
Most likely yes
Yup, same thought.
ya he knows him ..if wasn't , he would charged at him by patio stairwells in sec, looks like his little confused & hungry!
I was thinking that too🤔

What a special morning, it’s so melodious listening to the birds and mother nature doing her beautiful thing🌞 happy day y’all.
It is. I love listening to the quiet and then like you said the birds and mother nature. Very peaceful.

This bear was showing some aggression.
@@jodybruch829 no it wasn't lmao
@@knowingbadger Yes, she was. Most definitely the reason why Patrick did not let her come up onto the porch.
I sure do enjoy watching your fur neighbors! This is as close as I want to get! Thank you for sharing your videos
Word is getting out about this friendly neighbor guy with good bird seed. I’m checking it out, but slowly as I’m still a little afraid of humans.
Lol 😂
Ha ha ha, or he remembers that she's been there as a cub with her mum, and she being all nostalgic of his bear childhood?! Just speculating?🤷♀️🐻🌲
With this bear being new to Patrick's Porch (best bear-friendly restaurant in town), he/she needs some time to learn the house rules.

Pat puts out seed in bird feeders. These, of course, turn into bear feeders.
I would think it's because Patrick wants to avoid any fights, since bears are not usually social, especially when one has cubs.
