man hats off to you for building this thing in your garage, I pulled my friends R32 trans at our shop with lifts and transmission jacks and thought it was difficult so i couldnt imagine doing it on the ground. sick car man!
haha thank you man! Yeah I knew it was going to be tough on the floor, but I know other have done it, so I was going to give it my best shot, and it ended up working out. I will tell you I don't want to do it again on the floor! I reaaaaaaaally want a lift!
"If you feel defeated, just keep going."
wise words mon frere ;)
I never really got the bread trick, I just used a real puller from Amazon or Napa. The bolt trick was smart though. I agree that clutch lineup tool is handy when you can smack it when its not plastic lol. I know nothing about clutches, all I know is that it was way harder to installed the nismo super coppermix while keeping everything aligned. Yours looks so easy 😅I've had her back for a few months now and I resolved my oil leaks (had the catch can open instead of the drain closed), and have no issues whatsoever. My coolant temps stay nice around 80C and low and my oil peaks at 102C at most so far. My setup is boost by TPS plus a base modifier so I get like 13psi at 75% throttle which is fun enough on the streets. I rarely floor it for 17psi but the flames I shoot bring me enough fun. I wish I was forged because I could ditch my conservative tune that runs no boost at 2k, and only a few psi at 3k, but that's an entirely other rabbit hole especially when you have to then upgrade fueling too.
I genuinely would not have gotten to this point without your channel thank you always💜
Yeah, a real puller is the best way to get it done. But I wasn't planning ahead and figured, the bread trick should work too lol. I'm glad to hear your car is doing well! Thank you for the comment and take care!
another great video. pretty cool pilot bearing trick with bread, never heard of that before.
Thank you kind Sir! I had seen the trick done before, but never done it myself...it took some time but it did work in the end (the magic of editing made it look like it took no time lol)
@@Goodezilla I definitely get the editing game 😆
Great video bud. You make this stuff look so easy 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you man! The magic of editing makes it look easy lol...it was a pain in the butt!
Typing this as I saw you using an extension to pound out the bread. (maybe you switched methods after i type this) Several years ago I did the bread trick on my s13 vert. My dad laughed saying it wouldn't work. Worked like a charm, but I used a socket with an extension on the back to stop the bread from eeking out. My R32 GTR gets here next week and cannot wait to tinker and play as well.
Yup as you saw probably after typing I switched to a better shaped tool lol. Good luck with your R32!
I’m looking forward to your update! Well done.
Thank you!
How’s the clutch?!
@@jimbostir5004 hey man, so far so good. The engagement is good and not too harsh. It's a little softer pedal feel than the OS giken twin disc I had before.
Nice one! Thankyou.
I'd swear I seen this video already
That os giken is so dope but maybe a little old tech
I had that on my FD rx7 loved it
LOL...I did a video of getting the new clutch...but this is the installing of it :)
I went the Nismo twin route not long ago. Best choice ever so far over my old ORC twin. I reckon your one will be amazing too though, your kit has more bits than the Nismo so I had to buy the extras on top, it's sweet yours came with it all
@@andrewstrudwick6778 nice man. Yeah I was pleasantly surprised that it came with all that it did when I was researching it online. Thank you for watching!
got same organic twin on my evo
x , still loving it
Awesome! How many break-in miles did you put in it before "testing" it?
@@Goodezilla i installed my motor at the same time but id say not much at all tbh
@@blaqjac21 ahh ok. Yeah I was reading their website and they say 1000km break-in 😵 lol
Xtreme Clutch, Goode choice lol. I believe that was the brand I recommended to you after having mine, the pedal is awesome. I also like how easy it is to modulate when slow rolling with the clutch in and then needing to go, some clutches can be a bit tricky when doing that. I recently broke my 2nd gearbox and the front diff all at the same time unfortunately, not even launching it or shifting hard. Hope to have it back up and going soon, SpeedTek gearbox and Quaife front diff on the way!
Hey thank you man! I hope I can make a 10 sec pass without anything breaking. Then I'll be happy lol. New gearbox and front diff sound expensive! Good luck with it man!
@@Goodezilla were the 2k Jack stands able to get the car high enough to clear the gearbox? Did you guys use a Jack or just man handle it under the car? I know pushing them into the clutch can be a nightmare.
@@Green_Streets they got the car high enough yeah EXCEPT I had to put the trans on the trans jack while under the car. It wasn't lifted high enough to clear with the trans and trans jack. So had to put the trans on the trans jack while under the car already. The trans itself will clear while on the 2k jack stands. And yeah it was a pain finagiling that thing into the correct position. Just me and my son (all my son did was Jack up the rear of the trans when I asked)
Any advice on getting the trans back in? I was hoping you showed that bit on your clip. Tried a couple times now with zero success.
How do you like the clutch? Im trying to figure out what twin disk to put in my gtr
It's very streetable and less jerky than my old OS Giken twin place ceramic disc clutch. So far so good. It's "supposed" to hold more power than my old clutch too, so more streetable and higher power capability is good in my book.
How much did this clutch weight?
Any noticeable difference in the rev? If there is a significant difference in weight then the motor should rev faster. I was curious about doing a twin carbon clutch myself. Just not sure which one.
Here is some helpful clutch weight information for the RB26 GTR R32/33 to help others decide on what is best for them.
Stock clutch is 39.86 lbs (18.08 KG) with bolts.
NISMO Coppermix twin plate with bolts is 33.5 lbs (15.19 KG)
Ogura twin carbon clutch is 25.7 lbs (11.65 KG)
Tilton carbon carbon triple plate - 19 lbs (8.6 KG)
Thanks
I don't recall how much it weighs. Would have to contact XClutch. I didn't notice any difference in rev speed as I never had a stock clutch. I had an older OS Giken twin plate clutch and flywheel setup that came in the car when I bought it. So the new setup is probably around the same weight.
Was that clutch chatter we're hearing when you were testing it on the jackstands? Trying to avoid that when I replace my jdm twin plate.
The xclutch really only audible when the clutch pedal is pressed in. What time stamp of the video are you referring to?
Hi
How’s the clutch going? Are you going to give it a review?
It's going well. Feels softer than the OS giken twin plate I had, but seems to be holding the power I throw at it. After I get to the track with it will be the real test!
@@Goodezilla awesome stuff! Il look forward to seeing some footage of that too. Keep up the good work.
just installed one in my rb25 240 after my os giken super single finally gave out. Is your engagement all the way at the top of your pedal? my os was basically on the floor for engagement and this twin disk is at the very top.
No, mine is almost exactly where my old clutch engaged, just a little off the floor. You'll probably need to adjust your pedal under the dash and/or bleed the clutch.
looks like you answered that at the very end of the video, my bad.
@@Goodezilla yeah I didnt spend very much time with adjusting the pedal simply because i have to pull the motor out to take the trans off so I've already been at it all day. Gonna look into bleeding it more and making a pedal stop since it definitely is fully disengaging. I also put in the upgraded 350z clutch fork and chromoly pivot ball which might also be the reason for the massive change in engagement point.
Where did you buy your input shaft bearing housing? I was recently made aware that I needed to buy an OS Giken specific housing for the clutch instead of the OEM one when I changed my clutch.
If you're talking about the Throw-out bearing / Release bearing, then I got the OS Giken throwout bearing from TerraFirmaAutomotive. It was a special order so it took a little bit to come in.
@@Goodezilla yes, that’s what I meant! Thank you!
How's that clutch holding up? Thinking about upgrading my r33 GTR clutch.
It's holding up great. No complaints here.
