Joe, these are tremendous interviews. Keep ‘em coming. Guercio’s separation from Chicago in the late 70’s was a bit messy but obviously broaching that subject would’ve made for an uncomfortable interview. Apparently, Danny Seraphine convinced the other members to do an audit. It’s an all too common tale, group signs papers then years later realizes their pockets have been raided.
Another fine interview, from part 3. Pankow & Walt Parazaider have often told the story about how Hendrix thought Terry Kath was phenomenal. My brother who passed away last year, played guitar professionally for years, based his guitar playing after Kath. Terry never got the recognition he deserved, he would often say. Nice hearing about how humble he was according to Guerico. Thank you for these interviews.
Not only did James Guercio produce Chicago, he also played the acoustic guitars and bass on Baby What A Big Surprise, and also came up with the orchestral arrangement. James William Guercio is a very eloquent person.

these guys have seen it all...imagine hanging out with these guys in the late 60's in Boulder Colorado...their stories are gold.
Like listening in on private conversations…what a treat. James seems more relaxed this time around although Kenny got pushed aside a bit. Another treat! Thanks.

Your museum really is the BEST of ALL of them,,,,,,there really is too much content to take in to the point of being overwhelmed. Im coming back in about ten days for another visit,to anyone who loves this stuff,you haven't lived till you visit MHOF,,,,see you soon !!!

Great interview Joe, with a couple of musicians that have went down many paths. Their eyes have certainly seen a lot in their lifetime. Had never heard that Guercio started CMT. When that came on the air,,,satellite dish,,,:) almost certain it was the first channel that after being on a few months, was on 24hrs /day. My TV stayed on that channel.Was continual reruns of country songs video. Was kind of bleeding edge at the time or a different format i should say. That's quite a compliment to you and your staff at the museum to have both these musicians say how great of a place it is as they have been all over creation. . Thanks again

Dad was still planning the MHOF concert and award show while in the hospital- and was hoping to make it to see James Guercio’s induction which took place November 22.
Kenny and James are both really kind souls and we are honored to have their friendship and support at the Musicians Hall of Fame.

Good schmooze; interesting behind the curtain information. I loved the film "Grease" from 1979, but I didn't realize it harkened back to Guercio's high school days in Chicago, as far as the original story that is. It would be wild if you could interview Dion from Dion and The Belmonts fame. He was on the Winter Party tour with Richie Valenz, Buddy Holly, and the Big Bopper. Dion was actually supposed to be on the plane that went down, but he let Richie Valenz go instead because he didn't want to spend the money for the flight. Dion must be 85 by now, but he knew everyone - one of the last remaining original '50s guys; along with Jerry Lee Lewis, I guess.
This was a great interview. Love the stories. Wish I would’ve heard more from Kenny and his work on Elton‘s blue moves album, in particular the track “Out of the Blue”

I live in the UK and have been a Chicago fan since 1970 so am fairly familiar with JWG(Incidentally BST II is one of my personnel favourite albums, thanks in no small measure to your guests production skills). However, perhaps like many music fans over here im not so well versed with regard to the work and talent of Kenny Passarelli. Of course i knew the name, seeing it appear on many album credits, i just felt in this inteeview he was a little superfluous to the proceedings and i learned very llittle about him as a player. In my ignorance, i have to confess i either did not know, or had forgotten that he worked with Reg Dwight for instance!
Mr. Guercio was entertaining but his big personality dominated proceedings. I thankyou for the interviews, keep them coming. Its about the only positive i have taken away from Covid self - confinement, discovering your Channel. Thankyou Sir👍

I really enjoyed this 3 episodes Joe. They have really meant a lot to this old Vietnam Vet. I have some disabilities now and can't play guitar too good anymore, but I had a great life so far. Trying to pass along knowledge to my grandkids now. I am going to try to make it out there again and bring them with me to see all the stuff there. I like it much better than Cleveland. Thanks for what you do Joe.

I doubt that information would be a subject that most people in his position would want to share publicly but what they may have meant was he owned all of their writers publishing which was the same thing that happened to the Beatles and for that fact most songwriters during the 50’s thru most of the 80’s. It wasn’t fair but it was standard at the time. Actually now that the record labels don’t sell tangible product like CDs , records and tapes they have gone back to taking publishing, even writing royalties along with concert ticket sales and swag to repay their investment in the artist they sign since they can’t make it back selling product anymore. They call it a 360 deal which means they get a little bit of everything …that’s how they make their money. Best, Joe
