I have listened to so many different Sax artist. I can tell you how much Boots inspires me. I started playing 3 years ago at 45 and just recently purchased all his sheet music , that I could find.and am now playing along. The Duo is great.. could listen to this most of my day
Es verdad,,el SAXO !! Tiene un sonido genial, y es un !! AMIGO !! SIEMPRE. SALUDOS.!
Wow, such an incredible performance. It would have been electric for me to have played that with Boots. You are truly great - love the tonality and musicality that you put into the performance. Not many horn players do that any more. Awesome!
I love how Boots could trill just by "lipping" it. There's a couple of phrases during his solo where he's warbling, but you can't see his fingers moving. Either it's a palm key trill, or he was just that good. Ms. Pamela, your own performance was stellar as well. I would have been highly honored to play with this man. *takes hat off* ((1st year Alto player ... at age 38. LOL))
Ughh !!! this is the music id imagine to be in heaven !!!! Thank you yet again ! for sharing these videos ps: ... how on earth can you play with gloves !!! haha !! x
@pamzellie aha nah i feel as if i loose my connection to my sax with gloves XD just feels wierd and cant play right ! Hopefully ill learn .... Scotland is freezing ! haha
LOL he was my hero too. I wanted to play the trumpet, (big Satchmo fan) until I heard Boots play "the Shadow Of your Smile" I've been in love with the Tenor sax ever since, that was in 1970 oddly enough, I've always been at my best with the Alto, I have 2 Mendini's and am about to get a Mendini Soprano, cheap Chinese horns, but they play great, the intonation is better on the alto, but both are good, easy blowing, fun to play. I play a Sigurd Rasher m/p on the Alto, and a Yamaha 6c on the tenor. I really envy you for having known Boots, I'm from Tennessee, and could kick my backside for not having gone to Nashville to see him. I am an old sailor, made the first 2 major deployments on the Eisenhower, and my sax was all that kept me sane out at sea. I had a good friend in the engineering department, who played clarinet, who had a friend who played trumpet, who had a friend who played trombone....etc,,, anyway we wound up with a killer Dixieland group on the fantail after flight ops secured. They almost had to pull a gun on the guys to get them to stand watch on the fantail before we got rolling, after we got the group together, the guys were fighting to stand that watch. LOL music is magic huh?

He could lip the up and down tones but the trills are when the keys are not closed all the way.

Love the music but can’t hear it properly upload again please
Boots. Mainly remembered for his "chicken sax" solos with Brenda Lee et al, but he was just as good on "breathy sax" stuff.
