First time I saw him live was Laughlin, NV circa 1984, and this song was in his set. Being a sax player myself, I always sneak peaks around the audience to see if they are enjoying any sax player, just to develope a feel for an audience regarding a sax, and by the time Boots was 2/3 through this song I could see feelings cresting to tears rolling on many of the men. So this was my one and only time ever knowing of an instrumentalist getting tears and it was men, imagine that! The women appeared to be very moved but even more so with men, as the tears would attest. So to me this is the ultimate praise or testimonial to this artist. This was in Don Laughlins casino (founder of the town and casino owner). The sound engineer did not crank the sound up to clipping distortion as has become so typical nowadays, so the sound system was spot on, so just a profoundly enjoyable and memorable experience. So I stuck around for an autograph and he was so warm and personable with fans. His band stuck with him long term so he must have been a great guy to work for. I'll be retiring soon and then I will find the time to post some video of him live on television from a casino in Atlantic City circa 1992, which doesn't seem to exist except in my own library. For now, I'm going to hit replay 😊

Boots inspired me to learn the sax as a young boy. I got to see him perform in Reno and shake his hand after the performance. It was truly a dream come true.

The great Boots Randolph ! It's because of him that I started playing the sax when I was 4 years old and continue on today. Thanks Boots.

When I was 11-12? years old, I wanted to play the saxophone. As a kid of the early 80's, I was inspired by the "Benny Hill theme" (Yakety Sax). Sadly, the alto and tenor sections were full, and I got stuck with clarinet. Ah, what could've been....

My high school band director SHATTERED Gordon Kuehnnemann's teenage heart when he said (about Mr. Randolph,) "He does EVERYTHING WRONG!" I said, "Yeah, Pop, I cannot believe he sells jillions of records and tours the world and elsewhere !" LOL

He was a tenor player (as I am) .We don't allow taste to enter into our musings. We have emotions and technique. Think of us as the Gabor sisters of the wind instruments.

    この、ブーツランドルフのテナーサックスは、アメセルマーク6らしいですが、マウスピースは、デユコフみたいです、デユコフは、こんなに柔らかい音色は出ないのですが、すごく柔らかい音色ですね。
