One of the best film of the 80s and a career highlight for Scorsese, DeNiro, and Pesci. One of the first prestige films I saw as a film loving kid, probably around 14 or 15. I definitely didn’t fully understand the gravity or sadness of what I was watching, but I was blown away by the performances, naturalistic dialogue and formalist presentation. Has aged beautifully as well

I had the pleasure of seeing this film on the big screen at a midnight showing at the Tarantino-owned Alamo Drafthouse in LA, it was maybe a month or two before the pandemic shut down all the theaters a few years ago, beautifully preserved print and the last film I got to see on the big screen for at least 18 months. Definitely a good one to go out on.
