  • This is my version of the iRig or iRiffport. I like to call it the DIYRig. Connect your guitar to your iPhone and use free apps like Amplitube, Amp Lite and many others to hear yourself jam through your headphones. Play along to the music on your iPhone and even record your own tracks. Even tune your guitar with free tuner apps. www.the-real-diymike.com

    The I jack connections are: Tip L Out, First Ring R Out, Second Ring Ground, Third Ring / Sleeve Mic. There is 2.8v on the mic ring used to feed mic pre amps which should be blocked otherwise will be fed into instrument. There will also be a impedance mis match i.e. guitar high, i device low. You should build a simple single jfet pre amp to block the 2.8v + match the impedance.

    Won't the output signal from this be effectively mono? If you're bridging left and right?

    Please, I need to know if this would work on a notebook, I have only one 3.5 mm jack, that works for both mic and headphones, do you think this could work as a line in for my guitar? Thanks.

    Are you sure the third ring is the instrument? Because I tried the third ring connected to my guitar but there is not signal at all. But the top head works for guitar input the one you mentioned as left headphone possitive. Do I miss any thing? My device is ipod touch 4.

    I enjoy the DYI aspect, but I can pick up similar on amazon for $20 and save myself the trouble. This is still useful though because since they’re basically the same we now know how to fix a fabricated one if it breaks, so I still like the video.

    This is the answer I was looking for to plug my guitar into my phone, thanks! I did find an error in your schematic: The guitar plug is not 1/8", it should be: 1/4", as shown in the completed assembly picture. It also appears that the female jack is not wired for stereo (showing only two wires, it needs three: L, R & common), Unless, the one gray wire actually represents two wires...

  • @MichaelPick1
    @MichaelPick1 6 лет назад +1

    This does not work wired like this ,
    You just have to add a 1000k resistor (or a little higher) from ground to positive on input.
    I now have it working with deplike

    Do you need a 4 pin connector, I saw another video that had more to do with recording audio. In that video it was shown to use a 4 pin connector on one side and red, white and yellow RCA plugs on the other. using left right audio to input(CD/Tape) and yellow to output(CD/Tape) You could record audio into the Iphone. I didn't have one of those, but I did have one with a white and yellow. Using this cable allowed me to not only record but to listen to the playback through the mixer(played out Iphone, through mixer and out to headphones). Only problem is, it is mono(left only{WHITE}). So, could I use a 3 pin connector and have it in mono?

    • @CKS5000
      @CKS5000 10 лет назад

      I should have specified that the CD/Tape input/output is on a small mixer

      I bought a $6.99 USB soundcard. Deplike didn't work on an old android, so I installed it on a newer one. It works. Also, USB soundcard tester app works for producing amplified sound, with no effects.

    do adapters work?. I think if you buy a 3.5mm jack splitter and a 6.2mm to 3.5mm jack adapter for the guitar cable and with the right software or app. It just might work.(the other extra jack is for your headphones or smthn)

      Fender Bender
      If he did, it wouldn't have worked.
      Needs a 1000k resistor at ground to input pin.
