- This is my version of the iRig or iRiffport. I like to call it the DIYRig. Connect your guitar to your iPhone and use free apps like Amplitube, Amp Lite and many others to hear yourself jam through your headphones. Play along to the music on your iPhone and even record your own tracks. Even tune your guitar with free tuner apps. www.the-real-diymike.com

I just wanted to say thanks...Your video is by far the best video I’ve seen in regards to this topic..Everyone should use your video as a learning tool to make diy videos...Thanks Again
Glad I was able to help
The I jack connections are: Tip L Out, First Ring R Out, Second Ring Ground, Third Ring / Sleeve Mic. There is 2.8v on the mic ring used to feed mic pre amps which should be blocked otherwise will be fed into instrument. There will also be a impedance mis match i.e. guitar high, i device low. You should build a simple single jfet pre amp to block the 2.8v + match the impedance.
Just as what I'm looking for. Thanks!
Wow. This is great man! Gonna try it this weekend. Subscribed!
Great! I look forward to doing this project, many thanks.
Cy
Thanks for the video mike 👍👍
Thank you so much 😊
awesome dude..... very much helpful....
Won't the output signal from this be effectively mono? If you're bridging left and right?
Please, I need to know if this would work on a notebook, I have only one 3.5 mm jack, that works for both mic and headphones, do you think this could work as a line in for my guitar? Thanks.
Can you teach me how to Irig blueboard built?Mr DIY!
Something i don't understand is where attenuator to convert line in to mic in...
Are you sure the third ring is the instrument? Because I tried the third ring connected to my guitar but there is not signal at all. But the top head works for guitar input the one you mentioned as left headphone possitive. Do I miss any thing? My device is ipod touch 4.
the 4rth ring is the instrument
dude!!!!! you are geneus!!!!!!! ;O
What would a cord like this be called?
Thank you very much for your video!!!
Glad it was helpful!
love your hat! subbed
have you tried this using a guitar with active pickups?
I enjoy the DYI aspect, but I can pick up similar on amazon for $20 and save myself the trouble. This is still useful though because since they’re basically the same we now know how to fix a fabricated one if it breaks, so I still like the video.

This wotn work for audio tho. The mic input get garpled with heavy base audio like techno and so on.
where does 1000k resistor go?
app is not recognizing
helppp
app is not recognizing
This is the answer I was looking for to plug my guitar into my phone, thanks! I did find an error in your schematic: The guitar plug is not 1/8", it should be: 1/4", as shown in the completed assembly picture. It also appears that the female jack is not wired for stereo (showing only two wires, it needs three: L, R & common), Unless, the one gray wire actually represents two wires...
can you or something whrite me the PARTS please im from spanish and dont understend very well what you talk. GRACIAS!!
I built it and it don't work. I tested what's wrong and I can't find problem... DIYChrisMike please correct schematic. I will be happy if you do
This does not work wired like this ,
You just have to add a 1000k resistor (or a little higher) from ground to positive on input.
I now have it working with deplike
Necro time. Was that to correct output lag?
Do you need a 4 pin connector, I saw another video that had more to do with recording audio. In that video it was shown to use a 4 pin connector on one side and red, white and yellow RCA plugs on the other. using left right audio to input(CD/Tape) and yellow to output(CD/Tape) You could record audio into the Iphone. I didn't have one of those, but I did have one with a white and yellow. Using this cable allowed me to not only record but to listen to the playback through the mixer(played out Iphone, through mixer and out to headphones). Only problem is, it is mono(left only{WHITE}). So, could I use a 3 pin connector and have it in mono?
I should have specified that the CD/Tape input/output is on a small mixer
It work man
Thk alot
Save 100$ for irig guitar thz alot👍👍👍
+wi ya so u made it? hows its sound quality??
Hey...sounds good?
You forgot about something called guitar impedence..
Yes it is true
Can this stuff do the same sound quality as the original iRig? :)
can you or something whrite me the PARTS please im from spanish and dont understend very well what you talk. GRACIAS!!
Salai Balam look at 7:20
Why is it not working for me ? im using the app "AndRig" and "Amplitude". I also tried it at "Dr. Amp" but not even one of them recognizes the cord. Hope you can help me. Thanks
im also tried this and the same no recognized the instrument
it is because maybe your iphone had set as an built in mic .and the input iphone headset
I bought a $6.99 USB soundcard. Deplike didn't work on an old android, so I installed it on a newer one. It works. Also, USB soundcard tester app works for producing amplified sound, with no effects.
sir this video i like it but sir can you show on this video or other video how to properly
we can do connection on guitar plug and jack
and i dont no about how make our own guitar plus jack wire plllzzzzz can you show on video
can you or something whrite me the PARTS please im from spanish and dont understend very well what you talk. GRACIAS!!
make me one
This does not pass the smell test...I would not expect this circuit to work.
Hi, can you do this to attach guitar to your MacBook Air?
It's easier to use an audio interface. It's powered by USB.
No resistors or caps or power supply? Does it work? How is the quality?
It works but sometimes it makes noises and cuts the sound cause there are no resistors
Baaaah! You should have tried it out regardless of your guitar skills. GREAT diy, nonetheless.
The most important thing. TEST your dodgy connector
do adapters work?. I think if you buy a 3.5mm jack splitter and a 6.2mm to 3.5mm jack adapter for the guitar cable and with the right software or app. It just might work.(the other extra jack is for your headphones or smthn)
A 怖い Potato no.
can you or something whrite me the PARTS please im from spanish and dont understend very well what you talk. GRACIAS!!
it doesn't work
very talk
can you or something whrite me the PARTS please im from spanish and dont understend very well what you talk. GRACIAS!!
not works at all
BS. Wrong. Completely.
impedance is all wrong with this over simplified junk complete fail obvious he never tested it
Fender Bender
If he did, it wouldn't have worked.
Needs a 1000k resistor at ground to input pin.
