Love it! This is just about the only style of guitar accompaniment that I aspire to play - Noodling and shredding is for others. Great playing and singing, thank you.
Thanks R J for your very words! This kind of music is a fascinating and fun journey. I will never run out of room to learn and improve. Merry Christmas to you and yours! 😊🎶
Mr Ward - that is a lovely rendition. I , like you , have come to swing and jazz late in life after so many years playing Bluegrass and Country music. They will always have a place in my heart but the last couple of years has been so exciting finding something I never thought I would , * Could * , play . They say we shouldn't have regrets but I do wish I had made this discovery many years ago . Not to remove the huge fun and satisfaction I have had from Bluegrass but because this is such a wonderful and endless road in front of me . I will learn much from this film and I hope to see more of you doing the same . Many thanks , Kenny.
I have just visited you page and there is a lot of great music that I will enjoy listening to and learning from. I can't express how much I enjoy your singing and playing . Thank you again.
Kenny, Thank you very much for your very kind words. Yes from your description of your musical journey we have definitely taken a similar path coming to Western Swing and jazz only in recent years and thoroughly enjoying this new learning adventure. And it is indeed an endless journey where we will never get bored or run out of things to learn. I recently shared a chord chart and "shapes" for my version of After you've gone with a new friend who was very enthusiastic about it. I would be happy to share these with you if you would like to share your e-mail address with me here. Best Wishes and I know we will both continue to enjoy the journey. Bill
Just listening to your singing and watching your fingers show the frets who the boss is. I read some of the favourable comments from others and I’ll have to agree with them. Darn good entertainment. Thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you for posting this video….Mac
Thanks for your very kind words my friend! It is a great song. Someday I would like to be able to put a nice solo over the top those chords. Best Wishes!
Thanks Juan, yes there is :) After almost 40 years of bluegrass, Country and Folk Music I got a wild hair about 2 years ago and decided I wanted to learn some jazz and add that to our mix. That endeavor will keep me forever busy but I am having fun and making some progress :)
Morning Bill, This song is my next project when I have learned the one I'm on at present (See See Rider). I just love the chords, and this style of playing!. Many thanks.
Good Morning Mark, many thanks for your kind words. This is a great song and not to difficult. I have a chord chart for it I could send to you if you can provide me an email address. Have a great day!
Just researching different approaches to the changes to this and your video came up! That's pretty much how I like to play them too. Only just listened to the 1918 version, interesting how it was originally played quite slowly. Hope you are well Bill.
@@BillWardWesternLights My friend, just to know if I may ask you, since when have you been playing guitar and sing? Since when you were an adolescent? I think you are a true musician because many emotions flow out your playing and come to us.
Thank you again Salvatore for your kind words. I began playing guitar in my late teens, very basic stuff learning from my Dad. I am 70 now. I played basically by myself until I was about 30. I heard there was a weekly jam session in Sacramento and started going to that. I met some really nice folks there and we formed our own band and began meeting at my house. This provided all of us a lot of incentive and fun to learn how to play good music together. Our band and music has gone through many changes over the years but what a fun journey it has been. Highly recommended, look for others to play with, My best wishes to you my friend in your musical journey.
@@BillWardWesternLights Dear Bill, thanks for telling me this, actually I have been playing alone but I'm going to follow your advice and search other folks, it is a good way also to learn playing better. I am from Manduria, near Taranto, South Italy!
Assuming you are referring primarily to the 3rds of the chords, I believe that is always part of the chords I am playing here. The first chord is G6, just a 3 note chord, which includes G the root, B the 3rd and E the 6th.
Try looking at what he's playing, pause the video if you need to. If there are any voicings in particular you're having a hard time finding I can send them to you, but it's a good exercise to transcribe them from the video yourself! cheers
You have a wonderful voice Bud, really well done!
