I heard 'Salvador Sobral' and remembered this video from ages ago, it's one of my all time favourite videos/covers in RUclips. If this is the same guy, I'm super proud and amazed at how far he's come!

Portugal is finally regaining the cultural space it much needs in international music - a space we don't seem to have since the days of Amália Rodrigues and Carlos Paredes, when our poetry and our magic was well represented in beautiful lyrics and sincere performances.
Surfing On Drumwaves Yes we see great singers and musicians too after Amália and Carlos , like Marisa , Carminho, Rui Veloso and António Zambujo . But yeah Salvador is huge .

Because RTP hasn't been decided yet where it's going to take place and Lisbon is out of the "race" to organize Eurovision 2018 if MEO Arena is to be taken for more than 20 days. The venue has already lots of events booked for next year and the cost of leasing it for more than that period of time would be too high for the organization. There are 5 other candidates with equal conditions and cheaper: 2 in the north, one in the center and one in the Algarve.
