    • @NzV123

      @@galangbangsa5599 I am actually using this tablet as we speak. I primarily used it as an entertainment device while on travel for videos and reading, so I have not drawn with it much. When I did draw with it, I liked the experience, although I'm not a hardcore artist or anything so keep that in mind. It's sturdy and powerful for my needs so I would recommend it, although would definitely not pay retail price for it. I've since bought a Bluetooth keyboard that I carry with me so I transform this tablet into a little laptop capable of typing documents.

      Same did you get s3 or ipad?
      I've heard both companies have bad repair customer service. Fixing a tab cost as much as a new tab.
      And any tabs supposedly only last 2-3 years. I've only ever had kindles so convince me iPad or s3 or surface go for drawing and watching movies, light games.

      @@Glamrgrl104 Tabs last longer than 3 years if theyre good! But at that point you probably wouldnt even want it anymore because itd be seriously outdated. I got the s6 last week and I am enjoying it. Havent played many games because its pretty big and im not used to that. Its way more than capable though. As for media, power and speed it is great. I multi task on it a lot and its great for split screening apps or even getting some work done on.
      As for comparison to kindle... My kindle is pretty old so my opinion might be outdated. But my kindle has always been slow and buggy from day 1. I dont think the OS is very good. Sometimes apps would close out without warning or if I did too many things at once it would freeze and need to be restarted...
      Again, my kindle is an old version and it did these things out of the box. But the way id put it is the(my) kindle is for reading and anything else is an afterthought (although im sure the newer ones are very capable). Its made to sell you amazon products after all.
      I personally stick with samsung products & I find them really enjoyable.
      & lastly, for digital art I am having fun with it. But android apps in the art department are not as good as the ipad. However IbisPaintX seems to do all I want it to.

    Buttons on the Samsung S-Pen can be mapped via in-app. If the app supports it, such as Painter, Clover Paint, and Artflow functions such as eraser and eye dropper can be assigned. Some apps will also allow you to assign in-app functions to the volume rocker too.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 лет назад

      Would there be serial number abuse?

    • @BeanieDraws
      @BeanieDraws 7 лет назад

      I'm not too sure about that, but I do know a lot of companies require a serial number to register the product and you wouldn't want someone else doing that. I'm always seeing serial numbers being blurred out in videos so I'm just conditioned to notice it. Serial number registration might effect warrenty down the track as well

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 лет назад

      As long as the serial number is within warranty, the company has to service the device. That's even if the device is sold off secondhand, or stolen. Some companies will require a proof of purchase in addition to the serial --- Samsung does, Apple doesn't.

    I've been using this as my main sketch device for a few years. But recently I had to do a factory reset. Afterwards my App Freezer no longer functions and as a result I have to endure the wretched Air Command. Has anyone found a way to freeze it? I mainly use the S3 for art, I'd like to limit all the other processes going on in the background. Sidebar, perhaps it's just time to upgrade to Samsung's newest S-Pen enabled tablet? If you have used the S3 and have also used the newest model... the S7+, how would you compare them? I really enjoy the light weight of the S3 for marathon sketching, being able to hold it one hand while sitting in a comfy chair.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад +1

      Air Command can be turned off with the latest Samsung UI update. But I'm not sure if that update is available for Tab S3 though.
      Between Tab S7 vs S7+, S7 is more portable and battery life is significantly longer so that's the model I recommend.

      @@teohyc thanks for the quick response. Over on GSM arena I did a comparison and this is what came up. It says the S3 is upgradeable to One UI. Is that not the version that offers the toggle to switch off Air Command? I wonder if the roll out of UI updates is affected by region? I purchased my S3 in Singapore and am currently in Vietnam. I wonder if I might be able to spoof the server to get an update...

    Teoh, this is a very good review. Thanks.
    At 09:45 you draw a line with the ruler. It is quite far from the ruler itself. Would the line be drawn closer to the ruler if you pointed the tip of the stylus against the edge of the ruler (instead of perpendicluar to the surface of the tablet) ?
    (Like it's done in analog drawing.)

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 лет назад +1

      +Robert That parallax is due to where my camera lens is positioned. The cursor is always directly beneath the tip.

    • @Br0adCastYourS3lf
      @Br0adCastYourS3lf 7 лет назад

      Yes Teoh, I see that in the other parts of the video that the cursor is directly beneath the tip.
      What I asked about is if the pen was tilted a bit (so that the tip would would point towards the ruler, and touch the edge of the ruler) would the line be drawn closer to the ruler ?
      Like in analogue drawing. I don't hold the pen straight (perpendicular) but I point it against the ruler to draw a line precisely against the ruler.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 лет назад

      Robert Even if the tip is tilted, the cursor will still be directly beneath. The cursor is not at the place where the tip is pointing to when it is tilted.

    • @Br0adCastYourS3lf
      @Br0adCastYourS3lf 7 лет назад

      I think that we have a misunderstanding. It's not about parallax. I think that the s-pen does a great job and doesn't suffer from parallax effect.
      Even the Apple Pencil has space between the ruler and the tip of the Pencil when it's held perpendicular to the screen surface (**edited:** it's the thickness of the barrel of the pen near the tip). Just like the s-pen in this video.
      I'm just trying to find out if it's possible to draw a line closer to the ruler with the s-pen. In the Apple Store I managed to do that with the Pencil, in the way I described earlier. It might have to do with tilt support. Not sure though.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 лет назад +1

      Robert To draw closer to the ruler, just use a thinner ruler. Mine is quite thick.

    I'm a Samsung ATIV XE500TIC Windows based with S-Pen user. The problem with my tablet is sometimes the sketch softwares such as ArtRage and GIMP still recognize my palm when it touched the screen and it's really annoying. I'm not very sure the reviewer mentioned about palm rejection feature in Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. If the tablet has that feature and it's working correctly in every sketch apps, I would like to buy it.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 лет назад +1

      +Yudhi Mardani The Tab S3 should work similarly like your device. To have perfect palm rejection, the pen has to be close to the screen so that it can be detected (hence it will enable palm rejection).

    • @davidberry3957
      @davidberry3957 7 лет назад

      The newer notes have great palm rejection. If you want a cheaper option that's almost as good the note 10 2014 can be picked up on e bay far cheaper & offers 2k screen(lcd not amoled but still a great screen,I have had both) its a little larger canvas & has a sturdy processor with a more than adequate 3g ram. The orientation of home button is in landscape which wasn't a great move but you can do a complete 180&use it upside down when drawing in landscape to avoid hitting it accidentally. A new battery in it probably wouldn't hurt but they are cheap enough to buy & a pretty simple job to swap out or to get and repair place to insert it for you. The rejection can be a little app dependent,& some are perfect where the odd 1 will give you a line here or there but very rarely & there's always the undo button if you happen to get 1 now & then in an app. Like I said though most have I'd say a 95% success rate & the better known apps & samsung apps are pretty much spit on at telling the palm from the pen.

    My first tablet was the Motorola xoom 2 and then skip to note 10.1 but it was a disappointment that I had a defect that distorted vertical lines of what should be, I finally returned it and hesitate to re-trust Samsung but Probe Note 10.1 2014 32g and I really liked his performance to draw. Until now none of the other tablets of Samsung with stylus had surpassed this model until I see that at last the Tap S3 has characteristics that over pass note 10.1 2014. I draw a lot for works, the chance is justified to this tablet, or i wait to another version of another year?

    Hi Teoh 😊
    The pen, did it wobble for you too?
    I feel like, I break a lot of nips if drawing, because the nip isn't totally sturdy inside the pen and I have to press very hard to get a much thicker line in the art apps - only seems to work fine in the Samsung notes... Wonder if it's just me? Or maybe there's some settings in the apps or the tablet, I need to adjust? 🤔
    You/others with those pen problems?
    Gonna Google it ofc, didn't find anything last time, so now I'm asking the community on YT.
    I'd have a hard time not having a tablet due to my needs, but might send it back for testing if it's just me, before guarantee runs out.
    Was looking forward learning to do digital art, but breaking the nips is getting expensive, so I've given op for now. 🙃
    The hard tips just seems to scratch the screen, so prefer the softer ones.
    I seriously regret not saving extra and get an iPad pro with Apple pencil, though I hate Apples products. Wish they'd make something similar for Android. 😣
    Really like all your artists reviews of stuff and such, you really go into detail in tests. 😄

    • @teohyc
