I have an 83 uncle that suffer horribly with sciatica and he was in Mexico city and someone recommended a great traumatologist doctor there, he froze some nerve. It was a 30 min proceeding, local anesthesia, it is done in a good hospital. 2,000 dollars. Everything included. That fixed the pain on his sciatica and I think on his lower back.

The idea that all issues with stenosis and sciatica can be solved without surgery and never require pain medication is so out of whack with reality as to be mind-boggling. Dr Oz is an entertainer. He practices medicine, but the show is entertainment and he reaches for an audience. Believe me, I did all the proactive steps in this video very positively. 'After years of steady decline, I spent much of the last two years lying down because I could not sit nor stand for any length of time without excruciating, unimaginable pain with any movement. Despite that, I walked every day with a walker but had to lie down every few minutes to let the pain subside. I did an hour's PT routine upon awakening every morning. I had many rounds of PT as well. I avoided surgery because of videos like this. I researched, found the right surgeon, and had surgery several months ago. I had immediate relief and the relief continues. I'm not free of pain, but my ability to function normally is a zillion times better than before surgery. None of this stuff in this video could help my severe stenosis that was squashing my nerves. It's like doing press-ups to heal a broken leg. They might help herniated discs, which often heal on their own, but they won't decompress a nerve being squashed by a disintegrating spine. There's a good chance I have permanent nerve damage because I waited so long because of the kind of information coming from videos like these. No doubt, there are a lot of people who benefit from these exercises, et cetera, shown. No doubt, there's unnecessary surgery done. But to make a blanket statement that there's some solution for everybody that doesn't require pain medication or surgery is just wrong and damaging. Dr Oz, you should do better.

@@emptydata-xf7ps I know that it was a long reply, so I don't blame you that you didn't see this part at the end:"No doubt, there are a lot of people who benefit from these exercises, et cetera, shown. No doubt, there's unnecessary surgery done. But to make a blanket statement that there's some solution for everybody that doesn't require pain medication or surgery is just wrong and damaging." I was reacting his never acknowledging that there is good reason to have surgery with some situations and that there are times that when pain medication is necessary.

@@Fill_Some_Timehey you seem very informed in this subject, ive got a l4 l5 disc herniation (l5 s1 and l3 l4 disc bulge as well but those dont touch the nerve) and ive got sciatica for like what 7 months now. Got it from a deadlift fail, at first everyone ignored me when i said it was a herniation because apparently "only old people have that". I finally convinced them to give me a MRI scan and yep, herniation it is. Their methods for curing me however is... unhelpful, they put this oil on me that gave me a burning sensation on my back for hours and when that didnt work they refused to give me any shots or a visit to a chriopractor or anything like that, so I've been in pain for 7 months doing stretches like the number 4 stretch and the leg raise thingy which reduced the pain in almost an instant but it always comes back, and no the cobra pose and push up stretches of all forms made it worst. Just asking if I should try again to convince them to give me a shot, should I hang on bars, go on a diet stuff like that, basically what do you think would make it better, cuz I'm gettin pretty desperate here. Oh teenager btw

@@PlaylistsStoragePlace Thanks for your comprehensive reply. I'm happy that you were helped with your surgery. I had two spinal fusion surgeries in three days about 9 weeks ago. One from the front and one from the back. So far so good, though I know things can happen. I spent two years mostly lying down because walking or sitting caused incomprehensible pain. I avoided surgery because of the bad press spinal fusions get. But, like you, I searched for a surgeon who was smart and had a good history of successful fusion surgeries. Without pain medication during the past two years, I doubt that I would be alive today. My reaction to Dr Oz comes from those experiences. To make this blanket statement puts people at risk who might put stock in what Oz says. Though, I have no idea why people would pay attention to a television doctor whose primary concern is to entertain and have ratings. Thanks again for your response.

I work in an office. I have an adjustable desk top for my computer because sitting for too long will aggravate my sciatica, which I have on my left side. When I stand to work I try to stretch out my legs. I do several different moves like lifting my leg straight forward then bringing it back. I don't have a lot of room, so kicking my leg out to the side isn't a move I do. I do it at home however. I've had sciatica on and off since the 90's, but its gotten worse because of my weight gain and desk job. I'm 51 and this is the first office job I've ever had. All previous jobs over the years involved some kind of physical activity. But covid really screwed me up and for the past 2 or so years, I've been slowly trying to get back on track. Losing weight will help and getting more movement has been helpful. After getting cellulitis in both ankles/feet two years in a row, I am more determined to get back in shape and start taking better care of myself! Sorry for the ramble. Very glad I found your channel!

I’ve worn a Sacroiliac Hip Belt to help stabilize the SI joint so I can exercise and release the tension in the muscles. After it releases and I’m stretching the pain does go away. However, long term chronic illness such as ankylosing spondylitis, this is not a long term solution, there is a lot of residual pain from disc herniated. Exercise is the only solution, once you can control the flaming pain by heat treatment, and building muscles around the spine will keep you going.

@mrpentium Yes, sciatica can cause lower back pain that radiates down the buttock and back of the thigh. The pain can vary from a mild ache to a sharp, burning pain and can feel like a jolt or electric shock. It can be worse when coughing, sneezing, or sitting for a long time.... if you're not a doctor . Please keep your comments to yourself. Sciatica pain can be almost anywhere along the nerve pathway. It's especially likely to follow a path from the low back to the buttock and the back of a thigh and calf.

    1. I had a beginner sciatica and began a home yoga stretching program to release the hips. Look up "Yoga for sciatica."
    2. Balance issues are due to sitting in chairs all the time. two years ago I started beginner ballet barre at home using the back of a chair. It was tough. Ten minutes of it and I hurt. I stuck with it twice a week. I can now do these beginner exercises much better. You need to do "releve" for the feet to get some muscles back in your feet.

Thank you for your most interesting & informative videos!
I've been dealing with progressively worsening lower back issues for the past 20 years (I'm 61).
I've had numerous injections (more epidurals, both lumbar & transforminal) than I can count, facet injections, SI injections, a full dozen RFA's. MRI's and just about every other type of procedure (diagnostic as well as physical) one can think of from my PM doctor, including prolotheraphy,
    discogram, etc.
These are all post bi-lat L5-S1 fusion, bi-lat SI joint fixation + L fusion & L piriformis release, and current opiod treatment.
Im still in the upper levels of the pain scale and a positive EMG/NCS for L3-L4, 4-5 & S1. I also have spondylosis, several bulging discs (one with tears), and Schmorles Nodes. The pain that used to stop at my knee now goes down to my toes, and the 'sleep' feeling/tingling, pain, and foot/ankle giving out on me is making walking with determination difficult which makes overall healthcare difficult.
However, my PM doctor (licensed and very quality of life focused), which I appreciate, but my quality of life, while I'm not looking for miracles, I am sure my current condition can be improved upon, is waning he insists continuing injections rather than referring me to a neurosurgeon. I dont understand his thinking, and without a referral, seeing a specialist is next to impossible. What does one do when it gets to this point? I don't want to live the rest of my life on medications or 3-4x a year injections, which have built up a healthy case of scar tissue.
Any information you can gleen from these ramblings and light you can shine on this would be most welcome.
I wish you continued success in your practice and look forward to more of your videos.
    Peace, and all well.

As someone who has herniated the same L4/L5 disc twice now and 37 months of the most horrific pain before sugery and now years later 7 months in and no light at the tunnel. Most aren’t unlucky enough for the sciatica pain to be chronic. A much smaller percentage, it doesn’t destroy your mental health until you realize it’s not getting better, and that every day this is what you get to look forward to with no healing. Totally different ballgame. Also bulging disc are much less likely to cause significant pain than herniated. My point sciatica is not sciatica.

What if it’s sciatic on your right side, and it goes down your right arm? I’ve had X-rays 4 days ago. Says I also have arthritis in my back area somewhere. But my right leg has never tingled! It’s from back of my right shoulder then tingling. I can’t put my right arm on a table. Was tingling in my 2 fingers. Index and middle. Going to a chiropractor in 2 days. Hope it helps. Not as bad as it once was. Started in April. After hitting palm of my hand. Also the fingers area on down, bruised. I was shocked. Didn’t think I hit it that hard! And it might not make sense, but the area on my forearm itches now. It’s crazy! Maybe my nerves are healing? Always heard, if you itch with something it’s getting better, like when people break a limb, I’ve heard them say it itches cause it’s healing. 🤷‍♀️

I have DDD and already had a CSV from the C4-C6 area. It was found out a year ago my L4-L5 is starting to compress the nerves. And since I suffer from tremors, a pain blocker is out since they administer it similar to an epidural (never had kids but still) and I don’t want to chance getting paralyzed.

Hello, I would love to know once and for all
When I walk or exercise my gluteal muscle starts to seize. If I continue to walk or exercise, there is no pain but the leg starts to fall asleep and it continues until I bend over and do squats at the hips and then it goes away until the next time.
To emphasize, it's not pain at all, but a leg that falls asleep - sometimes, subject to the continued effort I make, it happens in both legs.
By the way I can walk on my toes and on my heels, can lift my leg straight up in the air and can also move my leg from side to side without any pain.
I'd love to know what it is -
I would appreciate an answer, thank you very much

I suppose there must have been a compression caused by hollow cross. I don't know , may be it could help to others.✊🏼
