    This would not happen in America, I can't believe that the price became LOWER. I was starting this video thinking that Robin-san was going to be sad about the changes. That's so amazing that they increased the hours!

      i also think that in america there is a culture of entitlement which is so profound. which would make it hard for establishments to maintain upkeep due to bad etiquette.

      The price didn't become lower. The amount of time that you got for the price became longer. So you could argue that the value has increased. But the price is not lower.

    I know it's a business and they do what they do to make money but it's a great thing. It helps the homeless or those less fortunate have a way of keeping dignity. Staying clean, having clean clothes and getting a good night's rest all help keep someone's morale up. Falling into despair is what makes people give up. I think this business helps keep the disparity for many in check. Subarashii, man!

      It is not for the homeless. It is for all the salaryman that have missed their last train. Or are You saying there is a ton of homeless people in Japan?

    • @nevercold808
      @nevercold808 2 месяца назад +190

      @@Abluemoon9112I know it ain't for the homeless. I'm just saying it's great that they have access to such a thing. Look at the video's title. Even that would make one think they're utilized by the homeless more than people assume.
      I'm pretty well versed about Japan. They do have a good amount of homeless. Far less than most first world countries but they're there. The country just does a good job at hiding them and they're not as easy to point out because they don't have a rampant drug issue like the US and they're not just roaming the streets like zombies.

    • @hotcrazycatladyme168
      @hotcrazycatladyme168 2 месяца назад +48

      And it also keeps them safe, as homeless people are targets for random acts of violence, especially at night while they are sleeping. Our government should be taking notes. There is no excuse for why we have so many homeless people in North America. The government could give people business start up money (like they already do) but to start something like this in each city, and see how it goes.

    • @Abluemoon9112
      @Abluemoon9112 2 месяца назад +13

      @hotcrazycatladyme168 this not for homeless people. If anything this a bandaid for larger problems. Instead of giving people affordable housing, people are paying money to live in a closet? JFC you people have a hard on for Japan with zero understanding of the situation

    • @nevercold808

    When I was homeless here in the USA the library was what saved me basically. I would use the internet at the library on their computers daily to update people and reach out to resources which caused me to get help eventually and out of the situation. Plus it was safer than hanging out outside or in the shelter for that matter. Being homeless in the US sucks because people get really pissed at you all the time. (Libraries are free in the US and so is using the internet and I spent about 4 hours at a time. The computers have limited time and you cannot sleep or anything there or you get told to leave.)

      The thing, civilized people in Japan use the facilities with the intention to survive and get better, and even seek help. The homeless in the west are drug addicted, self helpless and destructive and dangerous to themselves and others, beginning with the fact they will huff anything for a quick high indicating self destructive behavior before any kind of seeking for better avenues.
      Thus, it is not only unfeasible to have the same in the west, the fact most homeless people will fight for scraps of against those willing to lend a hand shows that despite being desperate they have no morality and willingness to help themselves or let themselves be guided back to a stable road.
      These people utilize your kindness against you, and many a times already come ready with diseases and multiple mental ones that prevent them from performing. The civilized homeless people, even those living under a bridge are there to survive, their shelters are moveable and they are quite amicable to being helped and takes care of their hygiene minimally, and if you ever helped one, you can see the genuine appreciation in their eyes.

      We use to have similar in the US, they were called SRO (Single Room Occupancy) hotels. But the elitists outlawed them because of NIMBY, they didn't want "poor people" in the neighborhood. So they lobbied government to outlaw them under the excuse that the SROs were "drug dens" and "health hazards". So then instead of SROs we now have people sleeping on the sidewalk, then these city elites dare to call themselves progressives and getting rid of the SROs was progressive, disgusting.

    20:16 What really helps me is I've used a wrap around eye mask (just a circle piece of black fabric) and silicon earplugs for the past 4-5 years and I sleep like a brick despite what's happening in the outside. Especially the past year it's helped, as I've also been dwellingless, living in a tent right next to train tracks; as you can imagine, the trains don't ever stop coming all night, until like 3am. The $5.99 pack of 20 earplugs I got on Amazon awhile ago have been putting in a lot of work lol.

  • @Donkeyearsa
    @Donkeyearsa Месяц назад +2

    I'm a truck driver and that extra 4 hours is a massive difference.
    We are charged $10 and that only gives us a parking space for the truck that is not even ours. The trucking company does not compensate us for that. Also if you want anything else that costs extra. Like you want a shower that's an $10 to $20 extra.
    I cant read Japanese but I would assume that you could buy mutable packages back to back. You could buy a two hour package to do all of the things you need to do before sleeping. Buy the 8 hour package to sleep. Then buy another 2 hour package to do all of the things before heading out. Yes that would cost a lot more but its still far more cheaper than renting a hotel room.
    Can you not use a converter to charge your stuff from the motor bikes battery?

    I have lived travelling in a car and had the same issues. So many little things take up so much time and you can't always multitask. A simple thing like a wet towel can be trouble, you can't always dry it outside, you can't leave it in a bag, you can't air it out. I ended up buying a dog towel, it's smaller, like a travel towel and dries faster.
    Charging devices is always a problem. I bought a 100500 mAh battery. I can charge that in 6 hours and then I could charge things as I travelled around.

    Honestly I did this in my country, I was homeless at a young age due to some wild circumstances, didn't have any 'safety net' or help and things got rough.
    My Net cafe was open 8am - 2am, but didn't have all the amenities that Japanese net cafe's have. It would cost $20 for an 'all day' which was from 8am - 8pm and was $2 an hour so I could stay there till 2am for $32 a day. Had cheaper food, a toilet, and the booths were kind of private. So I could sleep early from about 6pm till 1am'ish and just stay awake till 8am the next day. I did this for almost a year and thankfully the staff knew me as a 'regular' so they would even let me 'IOU' a few times. It was a 'safe' space as the streets were known for homeless getting mugged or harrassed, so thankfully I had that option. I'm in a much better place now but I will always be thankful that I had that option available.
    This netcafe would be a dream to anyone struggling and I hope it gets the respect it deserves so that this business model can continue for those who truly need it.

      100% agree. I was homeless in Australia for almost 2 years, I went to a homeless shelter once and didn't even make it through the front door before I turned around and left. Sadly most homeless people here are absolutely fucked, there's no nice way to put it. They have either completely fried their brains with drugs or have very serious mental illnesses, neither of which you want to be around. I ended up mainly sleeping on the beach in the sand dunes. It was good for 9 months of the year, winter was a bit shit especially the rainy nights but beggars cant be choosers, and I'd take that over dealing with the bullshit you would in a homeless shelter every day of the week.
