ItzBIULD :D It would be impossible because you can’t have a city of more than 1,048,000 people and even if you could, there’s the building limit. You cannot fill up all 81 tiles.
Given that one tile is approximately 3.7 square kilometers, the final population density of this city is 75978 population per square kilometer, which is almost twice as dense as Manila, the densest city in the world.
you could maximise even further (if you don't care about traffic chaos at all), by only connecting each of your rods that connect to your outer ring AT ONE END ONLY. This will stop you losing the zoning under the road at the other end, enabling even more zoning. Taking this mindset further, the interior could be just one giant spiral, and then all the area previously taken up by road can be additional zoning :D
It's even crazier when you realize that the building capacities are artificially low to keep the game from crashing. Even the tallest buildings will only fit 20 households.
The game has a silly residential building logic - a skyscraper can only fit as much as 4 or 5 low density households. In reality, city like this could house 10 000 000 people at least. They made it like this so you'd have a bunch of skyscrapers.
bojan They made it like this because every cim is actually simulated in game. If the population density for the skyscrapers were realistic, many computers would struggle to handle a very small (land wise) city. There are some exceptions of course though like with my PC, which has little to no issue handling my city of over 1 million, which I achieved with the realistic population mod.
Seniac. You know the bubble around the road when you go to place it? That's where the last zoning square will be. That removes the need to guess where a road should go when you're making a grid like that.
Put a footpath down the middle and drop some metro stations around the edges and a couple in the middle and you could have probably eliminated even the edge traffic. EDIT: also set up a really long time traffic light blocking new cars from coming in :) Looks like fun - I may have to try this myself!
280,000 people in a 2 km by 2 km area. This leaves us with a population density of 70,000 people per square kilometer, which is over 3 times higher than Macau, the densest country or territory on Earth and 70 times higher than Bangladesh, the densest non-island or micronation country in the world. Interesting… I wonder how the citizens’ life is in that city.

I’d love to see this city in 81 tiles with some style, like if he had 2 more of these districts, but built in a way that there’s a city center with a transit hub and everything, I reckon it would be cool
I'd like to see this done without a mod nor cheats (like infinite money). Obviously it wouldn't be as crazy of a number, but it would be more impressive to see the final result because it takes so much more skill, thought, and planning.
Heh... I'd like top see a 1 tile city with all the jobs, etc covered. The population would not be nearly as high, but I suspect it would be more interesting if things like superdemand and anarchying buildings into each other was not a thing... (oh and money being an issue)
For garbage THE best asset I have ever found was "Lava Hole". It's literally what it is. Takes up few squares, no pollution, has massive garbage storage capacity, and produces electricity as well. Perfect!
Should do this but without unlimited money and without having permanent residential demand. This is cool to see having nearly 270k people on a single square but it would also be cool to see how many people you can fit in there with vanilla progression and having to balance industry, commercial, and residential.
Easy way to calculate: what's the best building population per area? Then multiply it by the division betweenthe available area that they can be built on by the number of tiles it takes up... which I estimate to be approximately 333,332 (3x4 building holds 20 households, slightly better than 4x4 with 26, over a 250x250 area, minus the 2/10ths for roads, then, finally, 2 adults and 2 children per household, but the figure goes to 375,000 when the average is 2.5 children per household)
And remember: cities skylines has up to 81 tiles you can build (use 81tiles mod to unlock them) If you manage to fill them all with 200k+ pop and fix traffic, ur a god
What you need to do is use helicopters for your city service vehicles. Then they can get through even if the roads are crowded. Disasters DLC has helicopters for police, fire and ambulance. Add custom assets for hearses and garbage trucks. (Imagine getting your garbage picked up by helicopter!)
Creating an all in one municipal services building using anarchy made me think of how that might be implemented as a real world solution. Once you hit the cap 280,000 cap you could’ve started adding amenities like walkways, bike paths, parks, etc and see if you could make a real futuristic utopia.

Is it really one tile if stuff sits outside it? And sure, our town has a complex with police and fire HQ in one building, but it's not also a hospital and crematorium.
The city with the highest population density is Monaco with about 26,000 people per square kilometer. your city with a total area of 4 square kilometers has a population density of 70,000 people per square kilometer. That is quite a bit, for reference if that population covered the entire world it would be 10 trillion people.
Almost 300,000 population in 1 tile? Times that by the 81 tiles you have and you would be looking potentially at 24,300,000, if only that were possible. I’d be proud of anyone who achieved 20+ million. Computer would either take a lifetime to load or would just freeze. But that’s an insane number. 81 tiles challenge would probably take years or decades to complete.
When the goal is to pack them in like sardines there isn't much I would consider cheating. I actually went as far as creating a custom map where all the power and water I would even need was supplied from outside the grid and thus off my cities books. Where I did draw the line was demand master. That felt a little too cheaty and I felt like I already gave myself enough of an advantage with my custom map.
