I've spent the last 4 weeks thinking that I was going to buy the Yamaha MG10XUF, then tonight I found your videos on this beast, and now I've changed my mind completely.
This is now the mixer I'm wanting, so thanks for helping with my dilemma.
    Superb videos by the way.

I find your videos super helpful, you say everything clearly, you show everything and you do it slowly in a way that even those who are completely new doesn't feel lost (I once watched a guy explayning mixer setup and he moved so fast - cable here, another there, turn this up, this down - that I didn't get anything from it). Your content is really top quality and you just earned a new sub. Keep up the great work.

Hi, your video presentations are impeccable and really helpful to make a decision to buy this mixer and also for reference on it is brought. As these mixers seem complicated for beginners, and help from an experienced hand such as yourself does have an impact. Most people, though, could afford such mixers don’t usually go for it, because they can’t fully understand the functions. And your videos make it clear. Thanks!

Thank you Jordon for all of your help. Are you Canadien too- Brookville,Ontario. A quick note: Today I spent almost 4 hours employing my Senses in trying to figure out what method or type of connection provides the BEST Stereo connection for the Cell Phone? I get to use a fancy word: EMPIRICAL. My analysis was definitely Emperical. The Winner: The Top right 'LINE IN 9/10 JACK' on the Pro FX 10v3.I promise you Im being honest.I tried multiple other connection possibilities.Fact- its not even close. The ISOPOD LINE LEVEL SUMMING BALANCER is,to be blunt...terrible(D rating).I tried the Behringer Ultra-Di D120 (Link) approach(C Rating)...I tried the 5/6 Pairing Approach(B Rating)....here are 2 best- coming in at 2nd place is the Bluetooth Stereo on my Pyle 4ch mixer(A rating)....but the Heavyweight champ is,with an A+ Rating the LIne In 9/10 with just the 1/8 connecting to mixer and Male USB C CONNECTING TO PHONE.

Thanks for these videos. As someone not that familiar with mixer setups, these videos have been the best ones I have seen in terms of quality demonstration and explanation (after hours of searching and watching other videos on the internet). Have been trying to get a 2 PC streaming setup going and while I have the video feed sorted, the audio setup has been giving me problems (specifically getting game and mic sound from gaming PC to the streaming PC/OBS). Seems that a hardware mixer might be the best way to go without diving into the complications of a software solution like Voicemeter Banana. I was looking at getting the Yamaha MG10XU but your videos on the Mackie ProFX10v3 have convinced me that it might be a better option.Your other video (Yamaha MG10XU Streaming setup) showed that running a cable from the headphone out port on the gaming PC to 2x 1/4 ports in the mixer was the best way to capture the gaming PC sound (before sending it on to the streaming PC/OBS via usb). Am assuming most of the info in that video for the Yamaha mixer can be reused in setting up the Mackie mixer? Lastly, am just wondering what you think is the best way to set up microphone/s for a 2 PC streaming setup using the Mackie? (wanting the option to talk to team mates via Discord and talk separately to the stream if needed - have a range of microphone input options from gaming headsets to an ATR-2100x that does usb or xlr). Appreciate any advice you can give and thanks again for the great content.

      Hi There,
Yes, a streaming video using the Mackie is coming as well. There are a couple very distinct differences with how the blend knob/usb inputs are setup - but everything else is very similar. I'll keep this comment as a reference for when we create the Mackie version of the streaming video to try and address some of your questions.

Okay, you've got me started on the right track, ( no pun intended), so off I go! Great video. You present the info in a clear, concise way making everything easy to understand alongside my printed documentation that I downloaded from Mackie. Thank you for including the links also! As I watch more of your videos and find that they continue to assist me, I'll gladly join the group at your more than reasonable rates! I've got all the instruments that I play,,,,, guitars, drums (acoustic & electronic), & piano/keyboard,..and the equipment,..amps, Mics, MackieProFx10 Mixer, cables, an 1800W PA and 3000W Alesis Strike 8, and even a 8ch DI box, (just in case). My biggest concern now is which DAW to use??!! I've got Cubase/WavePad loaded on a Dell that I've learned will handle an audio DAW setup. Hopefully now, your videos will get me going in the right direction to getting my music recorded correctly. I know I've got a long way to go and a lot of trial & error and that's what I'm striving to reduce!

The one knob compression. When adjusted I'm not hearing much of a difference. Not sure if it's because the usb recording is not really affected or because it acts more like a limiter. There were areas where you spoke softer and the compression to me didn't really level off your voice. Can you advise on this? I'm really considering this mixer. Loving the mute buttons and control room volume but I need compression as well. Thanks

If you're working on your desk, you should be able to use the USB connectivity or unbalanced cables without issue. If you do hear a fluttering sound or other interference, then try to reroute your cables away from electronics or get a di box. But you should be fine without. This is exactly what I do at my desk.

Hi, thank you very much for your great videos! Are there any original Mackie-Asio-drivers? And if yes: how is the latency for example compared to a Focusrite audio interface? Thanks for some infomations...

I don't believe you covered the USB port in the back of the unit. I have a home recording studio with an Allen & Heath ZED 60 mixer, for my Studio One Pro DAW. I bought this unit today to use for my Live Solo Gigs, along with one EVE Powered Speaker. But I would like to hook it up to my I-Pad or small Laptop, if I want to play some music before I start my gig. Down the road, I might also like to create backing tracks of my original released songs, with the Show Page in Studio One, and would like to hook up my Laptop for that. OR if I want to use the Laptop for song sheets. Thank you, a VERY good video. PS.....I got a good deal on this unit from the local Sam Ash Music store, cause the store is closing at the end of June or so. Got 50% off my EV powered speaker.

Is the ProFX mixer better than 1202 vlz4, worse, or just completely different?

I have a problem connecting two stereo sources into line 5/6 and 7/8. I have a drum machine and a drum pad connected (only the drum pad is audible) and no sound from the drum machine. I've checked each independently in those chanels and they work if only one stereo source is plugged in. Hmm, any advice?

Thanks for doing those videos, it’s great. My recording problem with the Mackie ProFX10V3: I use a click track but, it leaks through the track I’m recording, even if the mic is muted. Any thoughts. I used the Pro Tool One that is now discontinued with no tech support but, I currently use Nuendo and the same problem occurs.
    Thanks

This. was. amazing. Thank you! I do have a question -- can you pair a phantom power condenser mic with a dynamic mic? Does it matter that there isn't a phantom power for specific channels? Thanks!

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  4 года назад +3

You definitely can. The vast majority of Dynamic Mics will not be effected at all. A very small minority of dynamic mics (unbalanced dynamic mics) will have obvious issues (buzzing) but are unlikely to be damaged by phantom power.
Ribbon mics are the ones that have a very low tolerance for phantom power.

One newbie question: Is it possible to use the laptop's mic line in to route in the mix out of the mixer (without an external audio interface)?

Thank you so much for this video. I just bought this unit for my practice sessions mostly which I will be connecting my mic and keyboard to directly. I know this is a non powered mixer. In the event I want to connect my passive speakers, what is the cheapest solution for an amp to use to drive the passive speakers. Thank you for your time.

    • @kettnercreative

There are a lot of variables for combining the correct amp to the correct speaker and unfortunately we don't offer consulting on this type of thing. We recommend simply to purchase a powered speaker.

Thank you for this video it helped me understand this mixer. Question: I'm using this mixer to lay down one track at a time of brass instruments (quartets, etc). I am not set up to record to computer and I will be using a Tascam 2488/neo for recording. Can I take the xlr outputs and connect them directly to Tascam inputs? Any other recommendations are welcomed.

You can do that, or you can use the USB output of the mixer.

    I need a help!
I am using USB-B output for first time on this mixer for Live Streaming. The output volume to speakers sounds great but when listening in live streaming the audio is too low. How can I keep the output to speakers same and increase the volume for USB-B output? I am also getting hiss noise which is very noticeable in live streams.

Thanks for the video. So could I use the FX send to go to an outboard FX unit like a regular aux? Then just return to a stereo channel? Cheers

Just one question 🙋🏾‍♂️, when you switch on the 48v for the compressor microphone on input 2, will it not also affect the dynamic on input 1?

Quick question, does USB 1-2 only come out Headphone and control room or can it come out of main out too?

    • @kettnercreative

Only headphone/control room. You need to use 3-4 for main out.
