This came just in time to prevent me from doing any more work this afternoon. That was a close one.
Dodged a bullet there.
Sad but true. Wait, it was too hot outside. Yeah, I couldn't have done any work anyway!
Damn same shit happed to me as well
Phew!
Came just in time for the evening throne visit, superb.
Air hammers are much more efficitive than other 'air' versions of popular devices, such as guitars.
Air waves are pretty good I find.
I've never seen an air guitar that didn't work as intended
@@kruleworld aye you're not wrong there.
@@kruleworld @Mat Gee He has a point 😂
Air balls thrown are never good.
The look on Richard’s face at the end when Nik says “Hold on a minute. I have an idea.” and Richard realizes the only thing he has to throw at Nik is his cup of tea.
Priceless.
that satisfaction of those gearbox mount bolts just dropping in after all that fab work, made me feel fuzzy inside :P
Did u expect any different?
Course, rubber mountings help ;).
GENTS! I work warranty claims for Cummins engines! PLEASE check the fuel pump, camshaft, and rockers! They all have a tendency to delaminate and contaminate the engine with metal.
CertifiedCarNut Isn’t it your job to answer ”gee wiz, I have never seem this kind of failure before” regardless? :D
That explains why our 14 year old Scania buses are more reliable than the streetlites. Engine rebuilds needed before 200k. Oil pump failures before 80k.
Thanks Cummins! (I really mean that, every time I drive one that breaks, I get a free break too!). The engine electrics are utter shite too.
@@jonasthemovie actually, its more like "oh this is common, heres money to fix it"
@@MrKristyon I'm a bus driver and sure the engine are reliable... but the rest of the bus is, we'll let's call it human.
Are there suitable replacement OEM or aftermarket components that correct these problems?
I cant believe you didnt do a rotary swap. Couldve easily fit like 8 rotors.
And 24 tips, each one waiting to wear out...
10 rotor engine with a Variomatic gearbox. The engine noise at speed would be amazing, it would easily beat the Mazda 787B LMP.

27 minutes 45 seconds. Really gives a good benchmark on how long an engine retrofit should take 🤣🤣🤣
You mean a swap can be done in under 10 years?!
Believe that was what we used to pull the engine off a Sunbeam Avenger, repair the clutch and stuff it back in again.
I’m in GMT -5 ... smack dab in the middle of my work day. Thank god for earphones and small screens. I have gotten absolutely nothing done this afternoon. This stuff always makes my day ... thanks

Add another month of working on this thing
This project is really Cummings together.
Great episode fellas. I don't know why anyone would watch normal tv over this. Pleasure to watch you guys build
Hmm a challenge! 😂🤣, I’m gonna need some gearing . Thanks guys!! I have a Bad Obsession!!🦅

"The LS engine never came to this country officially", gentlemen may I remind you of the Vauxhall Monaro VXR 😉
Unfortunately, it was a pretty limited run and I'm told they're very expensive 2nd hand. And the mpg would still be atrocious.

You guys and Colin Furze have the BEST Montage Music :). Actual Music..
I'm still waiting for a Bill Mcclintock mash up.
Colin Furze doesn't show us how he makes his stuff - not like these guys.
One does not simply dismiss a Scania V8 with a simple "No"
Too big? Ok, I understand. Too thirsty? Ok.
But not a simple "No"!
scania v8 would snap that old chassis lol
Hi, Joel! Don't worry - no disrespect was intended. They were performing part of an old (very silly) Monty Python sketch, where 'No..." featured heavily. :-)
It's like putting an engine and transmission in a shed... Good work guys, keep it up
Pacific Car company made rail wagons under various names then bought Kenworth in 1945 and Peterbilt in 1955 or so and they focussed on building trucks.
Since they weren't building rail cars anymore they changed to PACCAR. They purchase DAF and Leyland in the late 90's.
PACCAR actually makes it's own larger engines now and is slowly dropping Cummins from its truck line up.
Interesting bit of history.
Love how you can hear the rain pouring over great britain while they're measuring the engine brackets
OKOK, you guys are extremely cool and you make great videos, OK, so $5.00 USD per month should cover some of the tea! Love all of it, I expect to die watching you guys now that you have my money!!
You HAVE seen how much tea they consume, right? 🤔
PFI reference FTW. Great work as always
Poor Nik not being able to fabricate anything this episode.
Also, minor point of contention, An LS engine did make it to the UK though I think it's called a LA something or other. It's the power plant in the Vauxhall Monaro.
They all came with LS1/2's and I'd imagine they'd fetch a small fortune with how limited of a run it was.
The Monaro cost upwards of 15K 2nd hand usually, at least for any sort of GT version, the last run of Monaro GTR-S's went for around 50K each I think, although possibly more than that, no way you'd get them cheap for parts, cost of shipping them and the poor MPG/KPL simply don't make sense to have them in this build
Wasn't suggesting they actually use one. Just pointing out the LS was available there, though when a lot of people say LS Swap they mean the LSX.
Did the isuzu cargo trucks have then too?
RIP Holden...
You guys clearly watch the best other car guy RUclipsrs. Cleetus, Brent, Kyle, Moog, Marty, Alan and Benny are the ones! The detail you show in these vids is very much appreciated. Best RUclips projects for years on this channel.

I do hope Brent saw this 🤣🤣 awesome work guys!
Nik and his ideas at the end of the video. And lovely Shropshire rain adding an ambience to the reintegration of a decent Cummins into the mix. Tomorrow, I shall re watch part 4. Such good content.
The most satisfying part was when you lowered the engine down onto the mounts and all four lined up perfectly.
Have to say, we were pretty satisfied with that ourselves.
Woha! A PFI Speed / BoostedBoiz refrence! Hell yeah. They have made it!
Omg Brent from PFI Speed got some BOM love! He deserves it, what a good dude!
So impressed by how nicely y'all fit that ISB 4 and ZF 5speed in there. That drivetrain would've been my second choice. Here in the States I could get my hands on a 6.7l I6 Cummins and 6speed for not much more $$$. Make that camper lay rubber for a city block.

I've done stock replacement engine swaps that don't line up as good as that!
That new driver is doing well pushing that step drill through that chassis rail
Why do I find two blokes working on an ancient library truck much more enjoyable than all those videos about fixing crashed supercars, or pretty much anything else ? even Binky if I am honest !
Just a guess, but the DAF axles are better than the old stuff, and now for axle swap!
Was my first thought. though I expect the DAF to have narrower track, could all be re-engineered I suppose.
I would've swapped as much as possible over from the DAF too: gauges, wiring, bulkhead module, brakes, wiring etc. Get the most out of that £1005.00 y'all spent.
"If we didn't have an angle-grinder, and an almost pathological desire to use it."

I work for a truck bodybuilder, I would be aware of drilling holes too close together especially on cross members, normal minimum is 50mm centres.
You could weld up redundant holes which are too close.
Kettle on!...
I think they are doing a "dry" build and then they will plug those holes, but great suggestion mate :)
fila1445 The ugga dugga approach to torqueing those bolt suggest that.
