pure class & elegance! rock should sound like that, throw away all that noisy garbage produced in the last decades. the music industry should have a "great reset" into ascesis
I interviewed Cliff in 1977 and it was my first interview. Such a cool guy, was very courteous and he made sure he answered my questions because the other journalists were raging hyenas who kept pushing me aside. Oh ... and before I forget his music is fantastic too.
What an awesome footage !! I was 13 years old in 1965. I was dreaming Cliff's live performance those days in Japan. Now, amazing to watch him move and sing. Thanks for uploading !
Excellent sound quality. At first I thought someone had dubbed more recent audio onto old film. They must have had a good sound engineer at the TV station that day.
Ha ha ha, I don't believe it. I just requested Living Doll and I got part of it! Was I asleep back then? I didn't see any of this on stage stuff. It was just footage on Rop of the Pops. You really rocked!
Ik was daar ook aanwezig, mijn vader was mijnwerker en hadden kaartjes. Tot op heden ben ik een grote fan van Cliff. Ben ok 2 avonden naar het grote toernee met de shadows. Daar was mijn man fan van. Cliff Richard blijft de beste.
Can I make another comment here? What'd I Say was the worst song of that time and I had it on 4 top performers records. Including Elvis and Roy Orbison. You gave it your best shot Cliff, but it's still a lousy, nerve- grating song. I wish I had seen you in those days, but hey, I have seen you 4 times in Perth, Australia a few years back. You are still electric. I've just got a case of nostalgia tonight.
I've always wondered why so many artists over the years have sung this song (What'd I Say). It's incredibly boring and monotonous. It's as if you think it's so energetic and dynamic - but - again - it's just tiring and it just keeps going on and on.
Un dear Un, hey! What? That was nasty! I was a fan of Cliff's while I had no time for Elvis. A boyfriend got me into realising Elvis was great TOO. I didn't ever turn my back on Cliff. Surely it's not a crime to be a "true " fan of two incredible guys at the same time. You are probably too young to know that Cliff came on the scene around the same time as Elvis's explosion. Cliff did incredibly well to stay up there with him. Who knows if Elvis would still be going nearing 80. I know.a good thing when I see it, but I also see two good things when I see them. I didn't "pick" just one. And I also go on Elvis sites..

@Ebbenielsen Look at a scopitone of Sylvie Vartan singing her version of Ray Charles' What'd I Say. If that doesn't get the message across, nothing will.
The shadows do their job in a supportive role without resentment yet they’re brilliant themselves.
In 1965 i was also one of the fans at this performance of Cliff and the Shadows in Valkenburg. Almost 55 years ago!
U still a fan?
Un, yes indeed. After so many years i still cherish their music.
And frightening that those years are all gone already. !!!!!!
Lucky you!!! You went there!!
He got his old style of dancing. He sings w/ clear enunciation of words.Fantastic performance.Bravo!!!

Totally agree
Cliff and the shadows are truly A Legend.
Great band. Nobody waltzes like the Germans! You can hear the British Invasion in the making.
Excellent sound quality. At first I thought someone had dubbed more recent audio onto old film. They must have had a good sound engineer at the TV station that day.
Holland, France, Germany, Japan had better technology for live performances. They also preserved films instead of throwing them in the trash.
Meanwhile the Beatles are recording Rubber Soul 😜✌️🇬🇧
Even had richard craniums in Holland back in those days getting on stage. Cliff had them all even then curled up in his little finger.
Wonderful. The renaissance of music 🎶
Imádom ❤
Looking back Cliff & Shads were not cool then .You can see how they were not the flavour of the month in UK
