I remember it well my lambretta scooter ,with 12 mirrors chrome everywhere, now its a disability scooter with piss and shit everywhere for fuck sake take me back😢
What a wonderful world we had, never to be ever again. WE were and still are so lucky to have been part of it. I was 11 years old and listened to Top of the Pops on a Sunday evening with my friends, I will never forget how wonderful it was. Great to listen to again.
There will never ever be a better decade for music, long live the 60's, I miss that time so much. I just want to wrap my arms around the great times I had and still foundly remember.
What has gone wrong with the world today? The news is constantly filled with depressing events: children carrying knives and committing murders, pensioners like myself living in fear within their own country, being advised to endure t he cold this winter. The last two administrations have resolved nothing. I've stopped going outside after dark. Yet, I can remain safely indoors, with RUclips and a glass of my favorite beer, listening to the great music from my time. Long may music thrive, regardless of age. Ron Walker
The nationwide crime rate had dropped over the last thirty years. You are safer going outside now than you were in the 1980s. Stay inside if you like, that's your concern. But don't blame an "administration" for your decision to do so.
FYI, In January 2024 I was knocked to the ground and had my smartphone and debit card stolen. I sustained an injury to the base of my spine and am now walking with a stick and taking a painkiller tablet@@davyhall6886
I kept all my vinyl albums and 45rpm records. I also kept about 20 cassettes and kept all my cd’s too:) if you have only digital downloads, you really don’t own anything. Always wise to keep some physical copies. Now the younger generation has figured out that records have a warm sound that’s hard to capture on digital . They want old speakers too lol.
What great voices the female singers had then, I haven't heard anyone sing with such a beautiful voice lately. I love Helen Shapiro's voice and Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield, they all sing so well.
Greatest time of my life. 12 in 1960 and the next years were such fun. Ah when I think of the way this country has become I could weep. We never imagined it would go so badly. Thank goodness we can relive through the music that brings back so many memories.
Same. Best music decade:) Late 59’s- mid 80’s. After 1990 music mostly went down the drain. Even young people that discover the old music mlove it and wonder why nobody makes music like whst we had . We were blessed.
I loved it when Tony Jackson was lead singer in the Searchers. Thankfully I grew up through this generation of great music. The Hollies? fantastic saw them several times back in the day.

born '45 so I saw US Rock N Roll from the beginning, in high school day we learned Buddy Holly killed plane crash. In 6 am news, got to high school and principal said he was cancelling school, janitorial staff was not big enough for all the girls crying. When we got music from your side of the pond it too was great. My personal favorite was Herman Hermits.
My favourite in this is matt Monroe, as I've got a bit older, I've realised that the control he had over his glorious baritone voice, is just fantastic, in some ways a bit like Tony Bennett. Where his skill and tone was often overlooked. Thank you for posting.

I didn't look at all the comments but would like to recognize maybe my favorite British female vocalist from this era, Sandie Shaw. Beautiful voice and Beautiful girl.

Yes! And she could sing in several languages. A very gifted artist.
Dusty had a phenomenal voice! But she had little self-belief - when she recorded a vocal she had the backing track in her headphones turned up so loud she couldn’t hear what she was singing. My wife helped look after her when she had a breakdown in the sixties… A brilliant talent!!
Thanks for the interesting comments John ..Here is a link to a recent video I made as a tribute to Dusty. I hope you enjoy it. ruclips.net/video/smtvJF_m678/видео.html
John Surry..wow didn’t know that about Dusty. Glad your wife was there to take care of her. Dusty had such a beautiful voice and interpretation of songs.
@@esthergarcia1373 She was a troubled soul - she was gay at a time when pop stars were always straight, and being gay was ‘bad’. But her voice and interpretation of songs were unparalleled.
I was in catering for a time back in the 60's and Dusty became our hero when she poured a bowl of soup over a head waiter who was abusing a server. Loved her and her voice.
@@chrispypancake That’s great to hear, especially from a time when, dare I say, abuse of women was widely accepted as a ‘bit of fun’. Great voice, great woman!
It was melody..everyone then could easily remember the melody of a good beat good words..with only 3 or 4 chords..on guitar. Oh those beautiful times. Even my Parents loved the 60s music..they could remember melodies. Bless them now passed..
Great voice and so nice to be feminine how I loved the 60s I am now 75 the 60s has enriched my life I am sure of this a huge thank you for my life time xxxxx
Searchers from Love Potion #9 to Needles and Pins. Absolute Gold! Dusty Springfield best female singer to come out of The British Invasion. Shame she had such a traumatic childhood. I saw her speak about her Dad and how he used to tell her ugly and worthless she was. It scarred her life. Her lack of self confidence and self worth was palpable. She died of Breast Cancer 13 days before she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Such a Heart Breaker. Extroidinary talent! The Hollies were The best male group to come out of the British Invasion. So underrated and as far as I'm concerned far better than the Beatle. Allen Clarke's voice was untouchable! One of the Best if not the Best male voice of that generation. Allen, Tony and Graham complimented each other like no other group did. Even when Graham left and Terry came in they lost nothing. They were just as good as they'd ever been. I'm Alive, Kerry Ann, On a Carousel, Sorry Suzanne, The Air that I Breath, He ain't Heavy and the list goes on. Outstanding!
Thank you for the great comments Renee and also for taking the time to watch. Here is a link to my recent Dusty tribute. ruclips.net/video/smtvJF_m678/видео.html
Incredible video of the Hollie’s singing I’m alive. Saw them in Glasgow in maybe 1965. Took the wrong train back to Saltcoats and ended up in Ayr in the middle of the night. We walked and hitch hiked back to Saltcoats. Great night!
My heart goes to Dusty's family, friends and fans. I'm sad for her...I loved her music. And when anyone says "you look like Dusty"..........what a compliment but I can't sing! NOT EVEN HAPPY BIRTHDAY.............nope
Girl in class above went out with Hollies guitarist on right, the young looking one. How awesome was that. They used to hang out in men's trendy shop The Forgery in Mersey Square, Stockport.

It's an enigma to me that Helen Shapiro never broke into the US charts (except for "Walking Back To Happiness", reaching #100). Her unique voice and considerable song catalog should have ensured international success.
Yeah...it's sad sometimes, how some very good songs didn't venture far from their home base. Over here in Canada (Toronto) the only song that, I can recall hearing...wasn't the one that you knew. I will play "Walking Back To Happiness" after sending this text. The only song by her that I recall way back was "I Don't Care"...which I truly loved and still do. Infact, I think that I will play both. Thank You
I worked in London all through the swinging sixties. Even then you knew it was a special time and would not last. Great to look back, even if cancer treatment wasn’t as good as it is now!
Beautiful tracks, we were the lucky ones to have been around to experience the incredible sounds of the sixties ❤ Thanks so much for putting these together, I've been watching all evening ♥️
That song Born Too Late by the Poni Tails springs to mind watching this. I was born in 63 but wish it could of been 15 years earlier, then l could have properly lived these great times.
It Was *Special For Me To Once Again See Young Sir Cliff Richard In Clips From The Movie "Summer Holiday"...Which Brings Me Back To Memories Of My Brother Being At "The Downtown" Theatre And Remembering How We Sang & Danced Home To The Song "Put On Your Dancing Shoes". Thank You For That.

Fantastic selection of 60s music. There were even some I could not recall. Love summer holiday....cliff and the Shadows. I was just starting high school. Thanks for sharing God Bless
That is a good point Linda ..I have to admit I didn't notice before. We all wore them in those days ..and most of us got them from the local Burton store . 🙂
Only for a short while. You couldnt get on TV as a singer unless you wore a suit, or like the American crooners slacks and shirt. It was one of the first things Brian Epstein changed to get the Beatles noticed and on the TV. Even the Stones first appearances were in suits. Within a very short space of time. around 65, the suits were out.
Linda.. I guess wearing suits kind of helped the parents accept them more for their children as entertainment and come across as decent guys. My dad who was a musician in his younger years liked a lot of our music and the wearing of the suits helped him be more acceptable of their performances. 😎
Never really thought about it before but some of the songs of the 60's were really depressing however some were fabulous and positive like my favourite 'Downtown'
Helen Shapiro -- the Amy Winehouse (vocally) of her time! IF there had been no THE BEATLES (Ha!) then, THE MOODIES would be second to none as my favorite group of all time! No video available (for posting) of Noel Harrison -- "A Young Girl"? Does anyone know if a ZOMBIE ever practiced, Zumba?! ("What did he say?") 🤪 🤣
I agree Hearing her voice from so long ago makes me realise just how good and effortless her singing was. She deserved far more success than was given to her.
Favourites (in descending order): 'I Only Want to Be With You', 'You Don't Know' (which I've barely ever heard before), 'Ride My See Saw', 'I'm Alive', 'Heart Full of Soul', 'Walk Away', 'World Without Love', 'Sugar and Spice', 'You're My World', 'Tell Her No', 'Summer Holiday' (I saw the movie when I was, like, eight) I will NEVER get tired of Dusty's classic!
You don't know was a massive hit and sold more copies in the UK than anything released by dusty Springfield. In 1961/62 Helen shapiro was about as famous as any singer could get.. With 2 no.1s and 2 top 10 hits all whilst still in high school, by the age of 16 her career as a major selling pop star was dwindling, the beatles were her opening act
I saw,and talked with, this band in Benidorm in 82. I walked outside a tivoli and I heared some wellknown music. I was a little sad because one of the best british bands in the sixties played at such place....,but for me it was excellent!

I worked in London all through the swinging sixties. Even then you knew it was a special time and would not last. Great to look back, even if cancer treatment wasn’t as good as it is now!
Love hearing Dusty sing and the Hollies too. Happy to see Windmills of my mind included in this group of songs. ❤️🙏🏻
Thanks Esther 🙂
I remember my worst day was when I found out Dusty batted for the other side.
So toll wie die da aussahen mit ihren schönen Frisuren
und Anzügen.
Alles live.😊

Beautiful tracks, we were the lucky ones to have been around to experience the incredible sounds of the sixties ❤
Thanks so much for putting these together, I've been watching all evening ♥️
Thanks Terry 🙂.
That song Born Too Late by the Poni Tails springs to mind watching this. I was born in 63 but wish it could of been 15 years earlier, then l could have properly lived these great times.

Fantastic selection of 60s music. There were even some I could not recall. Love summer holiday....cliff and the Shadows. I was just starting high school. Thanks for sharing God Bless
So glad you like it Thomas ..thanks for watching and also the comment. :)
Thomas Bain.. is that the same Cliff Richards that sang a duet with Olivia Newton-John called “Suddenly”?
@@esthergarcia1373 Yes, that's right Esther, It's the same Cliff Richards (now sir Cliff Richards) . P.S. His real name is Harry Webb. God Bless.Tom
.Love this I must admit I dont know some of them but its Great Music.I Noticed back then the guys always wore suits .Its Kind of Nice .✌✌😄😄😉😉
Are you by any chance related to a folk singer by the name of
Ellen Behnke?
I still do Linda. It is nice.
Never really thought about it before but some of the songs of the 60's were really depressing however some were fabulous and positive like my favourite 'Downtown'
Love The Hollies, especially this tune: 16:54, wasn't very big in the U.S. GREAT tune though.
The searchers were a great band the dressing was always very smart.
The influence of Brian Epstein spread to all the bands in the area as he insisted on making them smarter looking.
Lovely version of that song Emily! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice to see the Yardbirds with Jimmy Page in a colour vid, even if it was a miming clip from 1968 and he didn't play on the recording in '66. Thanks !
Thanks for taking the time to watch Frost. Interesting facts.
Favourites (in descending order): 'I Only Want to Be With You', 'You Don't Know' (which I've barely ever heard before), 'Ride My See Saw', 'I'm Alive', 'Heart Full of Soul', 'Walk Away', 'World Without Love', 'Sugar and Spice', 'You're My World', 'Tell Her No', 'Summer Holiday' (I saw the movie when I was, like, eight)
I will NEVER get tired of Dusty's classic!
Thank you Armand ..even if I was trying to keep my selections a secret !! 🤫
Just kidding Armand !! Thanks again. 🙃
Meine Zeit. Ich liebe HelenSchapiro. Cilla Black Walker Brothers. USW. Von 60.bis 65.das war toll. Versteht heute keine mehr
think i was well in love with miss black wow what a singer
I saw,and talked with, this band in Benidorm in 82. I walked outside a tivoli and I heared some wellknown music. I was a little sad because one of the best british bands in the sixties played at such place....,but for me it was excellent!
Schöne Dusty.😊😊
Du kannst jetzt da oben mit Scott Walker und den Engeln singen.
Scott und du, ihr habt hier auch immer so schön gesungen. 😢
