Ryan Ross was a genius, musically and lyrically. The first two Panic! albums (Pretty. Odd. especially) are absolutely brilliant records. I truly believe that Ryan’s retreat from music is the 21st century analog to Brian Wilson getting into bed.
I very much agree with you on that Brian Wilson analog, every time I think about cricket and clovers it reminds me of the original smile album and that just hurts me in a way
Just wondering, if he's such a genius, why did he quit music?
@@theunexpectedua idk maybe he didn’t want to do it professionally anymore for a reason?
@@theunexpectedua he didn’t

ryan ross is for the arts not the charts
this is my favorite comment 😂
This is SO REAL
TODOS AMAMOS A RYAN ❤❤

AFYCSO is easily one of my favorite albums of all time. The writing was phenomenal and instrumentally it’s impressive for bands in that genre. It’s an album with 0 skips. Also, the tour for the album and the Live in Denver show was great.
I absolutely agree!! I am a Denver native and I was at the first show at the Fillmore and it was surreal, I wish I could go back and relive it. I miss their small venue shows like the other one at ogden. What a time to be alive lol
at least once a month i remember AFYSCO exists and thank 17 year old ryan ross for writing this masterpiece of an album
When you said some fans still regard Pretty Odd as their favorite album because either they have just listened to the band and die-hard for them since day one or they just like Ryan Ross, I laughed so hard because YES.
most fans I talk to literally have Pretty Odd as their fav album
You can hear how some of the melody of “this true love” made it into “nine in the afternoon”
RIGHT I was just thinking about it
Very very impressive video. I love this. I don't think anybody has done a "documentary" style video on this band like this at least from what I've seen. This is amazing work my friend. However many hours was put into filming and editing, I respect it heavily. It was worth it. Looking forward to part 2!! Please make one! Keep up the great work. Much love❤️💕🤟🏻🤙🏻
thank you so much brother!! part 2 is gonna come out in mid january so stay tuned :)
The cozy representative did an hour long video about them in 2021
I started listening to P! in 2017 out of sheer curiosity, and even then, not knowing a thing about the band's history, the internet made it very clear to me that Ryan's departure was very much a sensitive topic still.
So crazy to think about this band's trajectory, especially considering the most recent news. The cautionary tales about rockstars and fame and money and addiction really do materialize into an actual tragedy (not a sin) for some musical acts. It's just so bittersweet for the fans, but knowing what I know now, I can tell it's been that way almost from the get-go
Pretty Odd is a masterpiece, I feel like it's their best album by FAR
SAME lmao and I fkn love Folkin Around
LMAO
100% agree
pretty sure this guy likes their new stuff, he barely complimented any of these albums and was simping for fucking death of a bachelor. which i understand it has more mainstream appeal, and its honestly not a bad album at all. its actually quite good. but damn ryan is a genius and these albums really show it.
Agree man
Its a fantastic album and their last great album. Everything Brendan did was diminishing returns. Just a bunch of cheap at times catchy pop songs.
I hope king Ryan Ross is having a good day today
KING 👑
I saw them in Milwaukee on the Honda civic tour. I still remember they played Folkin Around (already the least popular song on PO) and Ryan made sure before AND AFTER the song to remind everyone that Brendan wrote that one. I didn't know much of what was going on behind the scenes at the time, but even then it was really heavy-handedly passive aggressive
Oh man! I remember being in middle school with my friends going through our emo phase, we were obsessed with FOB, MCR, Paramore and Panic! And when Pretty. Odd. came out I LOVED it. Replayed it on my cd player and in the car constantly. My mom loved it too and I still replay it as an adult with her when we go on drives. She loves Infinity on High and Brand New Eyes too. I miss my CDs! Can't believe they're considered old now lol.
Fun Fact : In 80s there's also have a band from English/German named "Picnic at the Whitehouse"
and Edwin Hind, Lead singer from this group. Very much lookalike Brendon in some point.
They broke up on my 15th birthday and I can’t even begin to explain how devastated I was. My poor lil teeny bopper heart. 💔
same thing happened to me and mcr! I bet we'll see Brandon solo projects in the future
I remember stealing my sisters “a fever” album when I was about 8 years old and listened to it on repeat in my Walkman until it was too scratched to play. I still love it to this day and just gave it a listen for the first time in years last week. It’s timeless especially for those who grew up in that era and kind of “get it”
The production of this video is great, keep up the good work!!
this is literally the only "story of Panic at the Disco" video out here and I love that but
Love him or hate him you have to credit Brendon for keeping the band relevant after Spencer departure for almost 15 years salute to panic and retirement
very true
dude I'm so impressed with the quality of this video. I actually haven't seen such a good video in a long time. keep up the great work !!
Crazy part about it is that they can actually just cover the whole lifespan of the band now
thank you!!! i have part 2 of this video up now!!! go check it out
I think I felt my soul leave my body when you said Pretty Odd came out 14 years ago lol 💀 great video though! so much nostalgia, I vaguely remembered the original bassist suing them but I never heard about him getting arrested, that's wild. very excited to check out part 2 now!
God I love the demo versions
RIGHT
Perfect time to release part 2.
i just got it back from my editor right now it’ll be up soon
U should do on my chemical romance
definitely on the list
I agree. Definitely My Chem!!
I would love to see a video on Dallon Weekes/I Don't Know ow But They Found Me/The Brobecks
Im 32 panic has been my fav band since i was a teen. Love it and Brendon is an amazing singer. Sadly it recently disbanded; but all good things come to an end.
"Recently"
The band broke up in 2015.

This was super well-written and you totally deserve more views. Thanks for the hard work!
Amazing video dude! Hats off, very dynamic and informative, such good blend of their clips and narration
Really hope it gets more views

Pretty Odd is the peak fight me ! RYAN ROSS SUPREMACY!

Lmaooo I never realized how big the exclamation mark thing was 😭😭 I picture it as if tøp decided to use a regular O in their abbreviation
Dude you deserve way more subs! This is fantastic
this video is great! so many details. thank you!
These videos look incredibly time consuming. Great content! Under appreciated channel! Keep it up! This channel will blow up with the scene Era being brought back!
about 70 hours total with what my editor does and all the stuff i do 😅 thank you so much
Even though I don't listen to this band, the amount of work you put into this video - mad respect 🤘
man keep up these videos they’re so fucken good and we’ll detailed thank you h honestly don’t give up on youtube you going somewhere, somewhere far 🙏
hey! i really appreciate this!! comments like these always make all the work seem worth it so thank you sm for that :)
Please never stop making these videos
I actually couldn’t believe there was mixed opinion on Pretty! Odd receiving mixed reviews at the time. I was too young to care about reviews at the time, but it is still to this day one of my all timers. But it is a studio album, great for a front to back listen on a long car ride or work day. Also folk music kicks ass
I remember the first time I heard I Write Sins on the radio. My sister and I debated if it was Fall Out Boy or some weird My Chem song.
I can’t wait till this channel blows up
me too hahaha
Panic at the disco will always have a special place in my heart I remember being a kid watching the music video for lying is the most fun you can have with out teming ur clothes of off on MTV hit list the fish bowl concept was always interesting

Already did bro, thanks for that.
And yes I am indeed a die hard Panic fan that has listened since day 1 😊
haha so true, you should check out part 2 of the video as well!!
@@bandprevail yes I did! I enjoyed it well done sir keep up the good work 💯
dude I love your content! this was so well thought out. just a piece of constructive criticism, I think your script could benefit from another set of eyes looking it over for word choice! You are killing it though, keep it up!
yeah, a lot of un needed mistakes, like he's just reading a script he didnt read beforehand :/
great video essay! I would really love it if you would do one on motion city soundtrack :^)
ur back
pretty odd has always been my favorite, fever #2 and vices #3
Pretty Odd and Vices and Virtues are my fav Panic albums. It’s a shame Odd is so overlooked
Amazing !
Yo I see you bumping streambeats! Great video.
Damn.. what a spot to end at. I was just wondering if there was a part 2 😂

@@bandprevail i will!! also did you hear about the news? ☹️ bittersweet
No one ever talks about them having a song (Mercenary) in Arkham city the album. It’s pretty catchy
pretty odd is number 2 of all their albums for me its amazing
Well this aged like milk.
in part 2 of the video which i just uploaded i talk about how they got to where they are now!! go watch
milk fic
love how youtube recommended me this a week after panic broke up
Panic broke up in 2015.
As someone who was obsessed with this band in middle and high school, ever since AFYCSO was released in 2005 (after hearing about them on MySpace), this is very well researched and really brought me back. Panic! was my very first concert ever on their Nothing Rhymes with Circus tour.
Fun fact: The year they went on the Honda Civic tour, I didn't have enough money for tickets. This would have been my first time missing them coming to my city since 2006, which was DEVASTATING at the time, so I begged my mom for the money. She said, and I quote:
"Panic at the disco isn't going anywhere."
One year later I have her SO much shit for that comment.
Panic!'s sound for the last 2 albums felt like a slap in the face.
honestly, the most poppy feel for Pray for the Wicked and VLV are nice for me, not as good as things beforehand but yk
This is so interesting
But let’s be for real, panic! Wouldn’t be Panic! Without the exclamation mark 😭
does anyone know the song playing in the background in the begging of "lead up to pretty. odd."???
The exclamation point part was hilarious
Camisado is my favorite song to ever exist
Great video! Very interested to see such video on Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance!
fall out boy video is actually coming soon 👀
@@bandprevail definitely subscribing to you
this is very good work! loved it. kudos!
thank you so much!! remember to check out part 2 now !!
Now 30, I have never listened to an album more than Pretty Odd
15:15 FINALLY SOMEONES TALKING ABOUT THE CABIN ALBUM
Brandon Urie made panic at disco and ruined panic at the disco at the same time
i talked all about that in part 2 which i just uploaded!! go check it out
ryan ross is the core of panic, brendon didnt do shit besides be the face of the band for the last decade and a half 😭
It’s so frustrating because he’s insanely talented but his own cockiness ruined him. he would be much more liked & respected had he let go of the the name and went solo. He probably wouldn’t have felt the pressure to continue to sing like that anymore. Great voice but he can’t hit the same notes consistently. a good overall performer but it’s extremely obvious Ryan was the core of panic!
Totally
This is the best video about PATD
can you please tell me where you found the song hey matt, the front of my car’s got your name on it. PLEASEE!!
god i never thought i'd see the pic of ryan eating a burrito again, it's been years
welcome back everyone
Good work!
God bless you!

I'm glad that Ryan and John left because I like A Fever and Vice and Virtues way more than Pretty Odd and I would be so sad if Vices and Virtues didn't happen. I'm not hating on Pretty Odd but Vices and Virtues is just so much better
Please do Fall Out Boy
Fucking love Pretty Odd. My first album of theirs though was DoAB, so blew it off as a beach boys jerk fest at first. Now it’s one of my favorites ever lol
I love AFYCSO and Pretty Odd I don't care it's amazing
Would you be willing to do Within Temptation or Halestorm at some point? I know you mostly do pop-punk but Within Temptation is symphonic metal, and Halestorm is basically just metal.
Can you do one on Hawthorne Heights please!!!
OMG YES
Great video, just gonna say not everything after the split was a decline though….
i like post split panic! better than pre split tbh
who else watching this after the ’breakup’
To be fair the summer league is a pretty sick name for a band
if you’re getting kicked out of a band, you’re the last one to know it’s coming. plenty of conversations happened leading up to it, you’re just not a part of them.
And now he's calling it quits. sad day
very sad, part 2 of this video is out now you should go check it out!!
Brendon is an engel man ,and we are never gonna see brendon again, r,i.p🌐 goodbye to an icon
WELL
Aw, this was a really informative video- thanks. Yeah, I couldn't stand the 2nd album. After feeling like the first one was just a Masterpiece (I also didn't know Ryan Wrote all the lyrics= GREAT LYRICS) it was just TOO different. If they had been a different band and put that out- they probably would've had a following but the album was just SO different. I wouldn't get into music like that and people who would= wouldn't have liked their first album, simple as that. It would've been interesting in hindsight if Ryan hadn't gone in the life direction that he did and was still in the same line of thought as he was when he did the first album, I can only imagine the EPIC stuff that could've been created- but that's just hypothesizing, Also- You HAVE TO have the Exclamation mark. If you are a writer or a reader punctuation is a form of traffic sign that helps you figure out where the writer is going- it's Literally why we have punctuation. When you have PANIC w/ the exclamation= it frames it as an attached yet separate word from the sentence- Like PANIC is something major happening- a frenzied commotion. Then at the disco directs you to the location of the Panic. When you remove the exclamation- it's more ambiguous. There's panic at the disco, what kind of panic, what does it mean, and how 'panicky' was it? It melds too much with the rest of the sentence and takes away from the emphasis of the panic's intensity so you can actually read it a few different ways w/o the exclamation= you CAN'T read it any other way then how I described when the exclamation is there. I wasn't tripping about it when they decided to do it- but it wasn't necessary to remove it but it belonged.
I ADORE PRETTY OFF COME ON..!!!
Before it came out, pretty odd style of music is not something id listen too. But once it dropped it was easily my favourite.
I think you should do some feat. With TheCozyRepresentative.
And you need a bigger audience.
I want a Part 2, Where is it?
give it about a week 👀 follow me on twitter @bandprevail and i’ll tweet right when it drops
Cool video but at times the background music was a little too loud
This dude knew something
