How Sum 41 Survived the Congo
In 2001, Sum 41, consisting of singer Deryck Whibley, guitarist Dave "Brown Sound", bassist Jon "Cone" McCaslin, and Drummer Steve-O began breaking out of their Canadian suburb with their classic album All Killer No Filler consisting of multiple hit songs including "Fat Lip" and "In Too Deep". After a touring cycle, they followed it up with another album "Does This Look Infected?" which brought even more successful songs like "The Hell Song" and "Still Waiting". After finding success in the music industry, the band decided they wanted to do something bigger, and raise awareness to those in less fortunate situations. This culminated in a trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where ...

    Arnel's vocal performances have always been powerful and dead on. There is no reason to think that that performance wasnt influenced by some kind of equipment failure or other electronic variable.

    Journey has a very brutal set. For Arnel to last this long with a band that has a history of short lived Steve Perry replacements is a testament to his commitment to Journey. I'll never forget what the other squabbling oldfart members did when Journey was inducted to the rock n roll hall of fame. They received the distinction with steve perry instead of the singer who stayed with them the longest (Arnel). Didnt even acknowledge Arnel who was relegated backstage. The irony was, it was the lone non active member that recognized Arnel's contribution: Steve himself. I think AP should leave Journey whose members are suing each other. It's a very stressful situation for him.

    • @brendap4234
      @brendap4234 11 дней назад

      All Journey's greatest hits were because of Steve Perry. Arnel does a great job being a lead singer. But he did not and has not taken Journey to the heights Steve Perry did.

    • @kingunda5013
      @kingunda5013 10 дней назад

      @@brendap4234How could he take Journey when all they ever asked of him was sing their old songs. It was disrespectful for them not to ask Arnel to join them on stage. I'm not comparing Steve & Arnel because nothing beats the OG. Simply the respect Arnel deserved by receiving that distinction together with him.

    I’m more of a Perry fan, but I’m on Arnel’s side. Every singer, be they a rock star, Karaoke regular or a member of the church choir, will have an off performance now and then. I understand his being embarrassed, though I’ve never experienced it on this scale. But fans are pretty forgiving. I think he should stay.

    Mike had no responsibility to Chesters relatives. Emily personal beliefs are shit however i can separate that from her singing and she does well on the new songs. Michael Jacksons work is great, he was a potentially terrible person however that doesn't take away from his art.

    I almost always separate the Art and Persona from the individual but either way none of it, should be a big deal to any fan personally, and if you wanna act like you care about an artist’s personal life, than support them when they need a break or have a problem. If not then you were never really a fan in the first place! One term in rock circles that needs a serious come back is POSER!
