i cannot take this movie seriously. I only have the 90's spidey cartoon as a frame of reference for Madame Webb...and I can't get her look/voice outside my head
Another fun fact: In the trailers, there's a blink-or-you'll-miss-it moment during the part where Cassie Webb is in a bus and there's a man playing a Playstation Portable. This movie takes place in 2003; however, the PSP was released in 2005.
I’m disabled, at the end of the film when she finally gets her wheelchair and they treated as something to get you excited for the next film because she has one in the comics. I laughed so hard. 😂😂😂
I personally didn’t find this problematic because getting offended by something messaging wise in this movie is kind of a waste of time imo but when they were explaining why her mom was researching spiders I thought “Oh some people are NOT gonna like this”.
I'm gonna wait to stream it. After Morbius and Venom 2 Let there be romance i'm not supporting live action spiderverse spin-offs from Sony. On plus side Sydney Sweeney has one successful good movie that made profit for Sony, and that is Anyone But You budget 25 million, and had grossed $170 million worldwide.
With these movies is like Sony is looking at the Superhero Genre being barely kept alive and just putting a pillow on their face and claiming is trying to keep them live.
I think the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie is a good example of a film no one was asking for but everyone was happy to get once they saw it. It can happen.
A movie called Madame hulk where they hint at the birth of a scientist who will one day give birth to the scientist who is a neighbor to the co-creator of gamma rays
Let's be real here. The ONLY reason these films like Madame Webb, Morbius, Venom, etc., are made is so that Sony can keep the Spider-Man movie license. They have to make at least one Spider-Man related film during a certain timeframe or else they lose said license.
I like how the description of the vid asks the question "Is this movie better than Morbius?" The bar is already set that low (or that high, depending on who you ask)
Dakota Johnson got punk’d in that bad Marvel film by Sony Pictures Entertainment before more black lashing in Spider-Man’s website. Come on, Sony, please don’t hurting your studio for 💯 years since both WB and Disney did.
The saddest part is that apparently a lot of the actors weren't super familiar with difference between a Sony marvel movie and real marvel movie and thought they were all going to be in the MCU when they were cast. Wasn't until later on they realized this was something else so if they seem less than enthusiastic, I imagine that's part of it.
I swear to god during the BBQ scene when she graps the Pepsi, that can she's holding is completely CG. It looks kinda funny for most of the scene, but there's this one shot where her her hand looks like it doesn't know if it wants to be in front or behind the can. I don't know if they didn't have the Pepsi sponsor locked during the shoot or whatever, but that can was about as fake as the baby from Twilight.
It's kind of insane how they decided to take the most interesting element of the story, having three Spiderwoman running around, and decided "nah" were not going to let them do anything or be in costume for more than a minute. Like what the fuck.
I thought the most interesting aspect of this movie was the conflict between the proportional speed power & agility of a Spider, and the comically absurd Spider-Sense. Maybe the idea that Ezekiel once again tries to trick fate for his own benefit, and fails dramatically for his overreach. Madame Web the Caretaker vs Ezekiel Sims the Usurper was an idea that I wasn't unhappy with when the trailers dropped.
You can totally make a hit movie out of an unpopular character. Iron Man was widely considered a D tier character before the first MCU movie. The main issue here is that ABSOLUTELY NO ONE GAVE A SHIT.
Outside of Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, James Cameron, Antoine Fuqua, and Martin Scorsese, it's sad to see Hollywood spiraling out of control like this. Hollywood is on life support. The products that they're putting out are either W.O.K.E. dog crap, or the screenplay and writing ✍️ of these other movies are so laughably bad due to pure laziness. The Beekeeper is the only good film that I've seen this year.
I was waiting for this, but got damn this thumbnail looks wild.😫😫🙈 I knew this movie was going to bad. It's just a damn shame how Sony pushes these Spinoffs out. Angry Joe Show said the same thing compared to Morbius. Said Madem Web makes Morbius a masterpiece.😭😭😭
What makes this movie so sad for me is that it was 100% a shameless cash grab, but there was potential here if they leaned into the more fantastical elements of the Spider-Man Mythos. Ezekiel & Cassandra both have significant positions in how the Web of Life & Destiny functioned, and the movie puts respect on the fact that Ezekiel tried to break into a club he didnt belong to. Without Peter, they did a damn good job writing how he tried to escape the consequences of that decision without using the spirits in the comics that showed up to hunt him down. Madame Web's powers were an instrumental tool in navigating how the fate of spider-people unfolds, and putting her in a position to nurture and cultivate younger spiders was a brilliant decision. They just didn't put enough weight into what could have been a great conflict between Power & Responsibility.
Did they go into Spider Totems? That's how Marvel explains the more outrageous Spider Powers. The Hulk will always resurrect due to a Green Door in the realm of the antithesis of God (The One Below All), so Marvel reaches. Also, the Responsibility/Power line makes more sense for Steve Rogers.
I think for S.J. Clarkson, the director of this movie should've done a feature film first before this one 😆 her only background was in television projects, it must've been her lucky day when she got this script & was hired on the same day 😆
Doesn’t this strategy of making a terrible movie guarantee you’ll never be respected/allowed to make another one? Or does logic not work in the movie industry
Zombie Hollywood is so desperate for anything right now they're willing to pick the people they generally like as people not as filmmakers to do their projects/ movies/etc. They're playing favoritism, which is why so many people in Hollywood are moving out and making their own movies or projects with their own production companies or even their own filmmaking skills. It's going to get to a point where people are going to start releasing their own movies under their own production banners without a hollywood distribution company
I'm not apologizing to them, flash, ant man, black adam, shazam , thor, or anyone else I forgot to mention. They all getting chucked into the dumpster.
Knowing that Dakota Johnson, in past interviews and promo for this film, KNEW that this film wasn't going to ne good is an indication that she only jumped in this for the money.
It’s funny, Spider-Man may not “enjoy” fighting his villains. But regardless, he always has a funny quip, or ‘seems to’ enjoy, fighting them. But with Madam Web, he didn’t even have a quip for her in the animated series clip. He straight up hates her😂 From that alone, if Peter Parker doesn’t want anything to do with you, I don’t think that’s a person you make a full, solo movie for!
Peter & Madame Web have a slightly more complicated relationship than the clips would indicate. In the cartoon, Madame Web would always emerge to warn Spider-Man of a threat he will have to overcome in order to be ready for the endgame boss of the show, and Peter resents his sense of responsibility being leveraged by someone who clearly knows what's going on, but is unwilling to lay out all the cards. As Peter starts to see the bigger picture, and as the ultimate enemy looms closer, Madame Web is less of a superior, and more of a counselor. By the end of the series, when Peter is ready, Madame barely does more than enable him to do what they both know is right.
Fun fact: Stan Lee's wife voiced Madame Webb for the animated series.
Didn’t know until last night. That’s cool.

At one point, they even considered doing an Aunt May spy movie.
i cannot take this movie seriously. I only have the 90's spidey cartoon as a frame of reference for Madame Webb...and I can't get her look/voice outside my head
Sony is not even trying to build a cohesive cinematic universe.
This makes The Marvels look like The Godfather 😂
People to Morbius: “Perhaps we treated you too harshly…”
Morbius is still shit. Just because one pile of shit smells worse doesn't change that.
A video from double toasted a day keeps the depression at bay 🙏
Another fun fact: In the trailers, there's a blink-or-you'll-miss-it moment during the part where Cassie Webb is in a bus and there's a man playing a Playstation Portable. This movie takes place in 2003; however, the PSP was released in 2005.
Still waiting on my Big Wheel solo movie…
Sony got them Great Value spider-verse costume
I’m disabled, at the end of the film when she finally gets her wheelchair and they treated as something to get you excited for the next film because she has one in the comics. I laughed so hard. 😂😂😂
I personally didn’t find this problematic because getting offended by something messaging wise in this movie is kind of a waste of time imo but when they were explaining why her mom was researching spiders I thought “Oh some people are NOT gonna like this”.
the villain out of costume looks like Morbius as a science teacher
I'm gonna wait to stream it. After Morbius and Venom 2 Let there be romance i'm not supporting live action spiderverse spin-offs from Sony. On plus side Sydney Sweeney has one successful good movie that made profit for Sony, and that is Anyone But You budget 25 million, and had grossed $170 million worldwide.
Don't blame you. Venom 2 was extra insulting. Wrote for 10 year olds.
With these movies is like Sony is looking at the Superhero Genre being barely kept alive and just putting a pillow on their face and claiming is trying to keep them live.
At least, the MCU was smart enough to release one movie this year with Deadpool. Meanwhile, Sony's churning out three with this, Kraven, and Venom 3.
Honestly Deadpool and Wolverine & even Joker: Folie a Deux are the only CBMs this year that will give me hope cause Sony ain’t helping.
I think the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie is a good example of a film no one was asking for but everyone was happy to get once they saw it. It can happen.
Behold the awesome power of a passionate director and a mouse's wallet.
And 2+2=173, and the color of the sky is turquoise maroon. SNAP BACK TO REALITY!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@JamesASharp ? Non sequitur
23:53 poor Julian still getting roasted over his "queens" 😅.
His NUBIAN QUEEN! 😆
A movie called Madame hulk where they hint at the birth of a scientist who will one day give birth to the scientist who is a neighbor to the co-creator of gamma rays
This reminds me of that Spaceballs line lmao
I love how a video game scriptwriting could be better than this movie
27:23 as critics, you have a moral responsibility to spoil movies when they’re this bad
When she removed the plates from the cab but left the sign on top, then CRASHED IT INTO A DINER WITH WITNESSES but kept driving around in it I lost it
Dakota Johnson got punk’d in that bad Marvel film by Sony Pictures Entertainment before more black lashing in Spider-Man’s website.
And to think we have 3 SPUMM movies This year! 😅🤦♂
(*Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Movies)
I swear to god during the BBQ scene when she graps the Pepsi, that can she's holding is completely CG. It looks kinda funny for most of the scene, but there's this one shot where her her hand looks like it doesn't know if it wants to be in front or behind the can.
I don't know if they didn't have the Pepsi sponsor locked during the shoot or whatever, but that can was about as fake as the baby from Twilight.
The only solace in this movie is knowing that i can just turn my brain off and appreciate how fine Dakota Johnson is.
Unless from the bad trilogy in the mid 2010s.
#Same
Dakota over Sydney?!
Yes, although Sydney is fine as hell too
You can go that for FREE without paying for this shite.
How stupid are you?
Korey said “bless her heart.” That makes this Yankee-turned-Southern-boy so happy.
You can totally make a hit movie out of an unpopular character. Iron Man was widely considered a D tier character before the first MCU movie. The main issue here is that ABSOLUTELY NO ONE GAVE A SHIT.
Oh, I've been looking forward to this review for days...
It can’t be worst than Catwoman. Maybe Elektra, but it can’t be worst than Catwoman.
Catwoman was so bad it was trainwreck watchable.
Madame Web sounds so generic it wouldn't even work as a made for TV movie in 1984.
You know a movie is terrible when the lead actor fires their agent immediately after it debuts!
I am glad this movie exists, for the simple fact that the reviews are hilarious.
😂That spiderman suit looks like one of Phenoix Jones sidekicks.😂😂😂
Did they go into Spider Totems? That's how Marvel explains the more outrageous Spider Powers. The Hulk will always resurrect due to a Green Door in the realm of the antithesis of God (The One Below All), so Marvel reaches. Also, the Responsibility/Power line makes more sense for Steve Rogers.
Having a director (SJ Clarkson) who has directed literally nothing but television shows wasn't exactly a great move for Madame Web either.
Was waiting for this (not the movie, your review lol)
Korey - Kraven at least it looks like they are trying with something.
Oh man I love coming back to these post disaster
I tried to convince myself that this movie isn’t worth talking about, but here I am.
Every single person owes THE MARVELS an apology
😂 It's still bad tho.
Nah
Marvels is a bad movie and deserves its criticism. However, I will say the madame web movie is far worse than any super hero I have seen.
Nope that movie is still bad but this one seems worse
I'm not apologizing to them, flash, ant man, black adam, shazam , thor, or anyone else I forgot to mention. They all getting chucked into the dumpster.
Korey Coleman: Shopify brings to your house, brings to YOU!
Can't wait to see Kraven the Hunter now
Bad writing isn't an excuse for bad acting. The guy playing uncle Ben's acting wasnt bad at all and he was dealing with the same garbage script.
Knowing that Dakota Johnson, in past interviews and promo for this film, KNEW that this film wasn't going to ne good is an indication that she only jumped in this for the money.
No she got tricked. She thought it was going to be a Marvel movie.
That’s why she just fired her agent
@@wilcee238This IS a Marvel film, but not 1 of those Disney/Marvel (MCU) films.
@@COSun25 Technically true but I don't fault her. There's a quality difference between the MCU and Sony's Marvel
The Marvels and Morbius are going: "Thank You for moving the bar so much lower that no one is thrashing us as the worst MCU movie ever."
This and Morbius aren’t even MCU. Even the worst of the MCU ain’t this bad.
This is a FULL PRICE film. Gimme more! I was dying in the theater. This might be one of my favorite comedies of all time.
